After about 5 months break I'm trying my luck at the Ultimate again this time with a troubadour/priest, the amount of knowledge that heaped up during my break is quite big so it feels like I'm almost playing a completely different game. Sadly I still get distracted very easily by reading twitch chat and oing stuff ingame at the same time instead of pressing c like anormal person. Yesterday I had two really early deaths due to that but today was pretty successful, even killed Beina with a level 7 char before going to neketaka and with Decadency's help survived a storm

I'm not sure if seconds are tracked internally or not, but very short durations are usually very beneficial on tb since they just get rounded up to 1 round. A very good example is the fighter's knockup from the upgraded knockdown, while in rtwp it is less than 2 seconds even with goodish Int, on tb it gets rounded up to 1 round, which is almost the same duration of the distracted debuff which is really long with good Int. This gets even sillier if you delay your turn both distracted and knock up will end at exactly the same time, not only can you permanently knock up an opponent (or several with wotep) but with delayed turn the distracted will end each turn, so if you play a tactician you will lose and regain brilliant each turn in a 1v1 or if you can knockup several opponents with wotep and kiting them so they#re clustered, gaining 2 resources per turn, more than you can spend with an ability that costs only 1 discipline! Ooblit is also insanely good with tb and SOT, doubling SOTs duration (originally it's 1 round, you can however get it up to 2 rounds with real good Int, so then ooblit wouldn't double it but just add 50% which is still really good ofc. Draining wall also is quite good since on TB it is really easy to reposition and make the enemies walk over the wall or even use pull of eoara to pull them over it and then they'll walk back over towards you again proccing another tick. I haven't really seen any wasted durations so i would assume it is always at least one round added. One thing which is really iffy with not maxed Int is effects not procced directly by you however, for example brilliant cloak can totally proc during an opponents turn and run out before it's your turn, which is why these days I always max int even on tb.

Yes that is true but I was specifically responding to the question how to make the pet tanky and immortality is still superior to resurrection if one does have priest and cipher in party. You do have a point about being able to abuse the no wounds and there is plentyy of situations where it is super helpful, for example vs nasty dampeners.

Haha you're right, silly me. It's still viable for the Ultimate, one just has to have brilliant cloak equipped then and be ready to use skellies on self if invocation fails. As far as I've seen casting it on at least three targets makes it quite likely to trigger brilliant, if it fails withdraw and then just let skellies hit self with cloak I guess.

Well Sasha gives you back one empower per fight. Shoot Vela for fire blight (belt of magran's), out of combat she regens and you can proc many hits with bb. Then with Sashas equipped you use empowered revenge on blight (maybe not max might so it doesn't oneshot), if you don't get brilliant kill the blight, rinse and repeat, if you get brilliant buff up with sot and so on. (If you're close enough to the enemies you wanna fight you can just engage them, but even if you were not close enough the brilliant from the coil carries over if your sot lasts long enough.

Her Tears fell like rain is insanely good with this, Brilliant is almost guaranteed even with bad positioning, combine this with belt of magran's chosen blight so you can reset combat easily if brilliant doesn't proc and we have a new easy way to get brilliant in the ultimate besides Tactician which is also a better brilliant because if soted it carries over after combat ends. edit: hm on singletarget revenge does seem better for proccing multiple inspirations after further testing.

There is honestly no need to do the xaurip quest with a chanter, the chokepoint between the skeletons works, especially if you have figurine, but I personally wouldn't do it on a TOI/TCS.. If you do all the no fighting quests (including grabbing blacksmiths crate via sneak) after that I would go to Raedric's castle and climb the left side entrance. With 5 sneak you can bypass the guard as long as the archer isn't near. Put on Berath robes and talk to the priest to save the guy in the basement (Giachio?).With a little bit of practice you can how to sneak thru to the south cell making a big detour going left first passing the ooze (you might have to fight a single pattrolling zombie, just make sure no one else is close). From the south east cell you can split and fight them one by one using red circle and the corner + line of sight to your advantage (kinda hard to explain maybe you can find a video on it, it's in Wodjee's ultimate run for example no idea if there are shorter videos but manually searching for the correct time is not that hard since its right at the beginning) Once you freed basement guy get back to his mom talked to priest and then to Radric (pretend to help him) you are free to loot the castle at your leisure. Besides the precious random loot for better equipment you will also have enough stuff to sell to buy figurine (stealth boots on 4th in hidden container on the roof are especially helpful). With figurine you can jsut sneak by all ghosts in Caed Nua(in the hall stick to the left) once dialogue happens use the figurine to distract the ghosts run for your life to the stairs and since out of sight combat will end after summon dies. You can sneak thru the spider part too (5 stealth + boots of stelath) by sticking to the middle, gratz you made it to maerwald and as long as you did all non combat quests you will be level 4 and with pots of spirit shield + bulwark the fight will be relatively easy (if you rest before the fight you can also use figurine).Just run back towards the door use it as chokepoint, send phantoms against Maerwald, stunlock him win. In Act 2 you have a lot more freedom and equipment choices and you may return for the quests you missed in Act 1 and Raedric whenever you please.

Potd is not that difficult especially with a party, I think normal is actually where the trap lies in both pillars, because it's ridicolously close to hard difficultywise, and people who pick normal most likely expect it to be way easier. (baldur's Gate normal is so easy one could beat it without ever having played a crpg before) Potd is easy compared to games with notoriously high difficulties like Baldur's Gate on LoB with SCS mod is almost on the Ultimate level difficulty wise especially if you try to set at least somewhat similar challenges (no reload and solo), while PotD with a party can just be solved with brute force and good equip, you don't even necessarily understand class combos and builds.

Shield can be good for the early game, while it shouldn't be necessary with a party at all. Late game however (level 15+) there is 0 need for any defense on any of your party except your tank because of mindweb. Just max defenses on your tank (my pala had 170 deflection and 160+ in all other defenses, will was smth like 200), give the soulbound ranged weapon to one of your cipher that fires two shots before reloading, shoot it twice at combat start and then cast mindweb on tank, switch to melee weapons. Even for the early game I would try and find a way to either dual wield or use a ranged weapon, as Boeroer said a cipher is only as good as the amount of focus they can build. There is many strategies to make squishy melees survive a fight, mainly about engaging with the tank first and making sure all enemies actually attack him before attacking with the squishy melees. With the cipher you have the additional option to charm from stealth before engaging and also always keep enough focus to charm if some enemy switches targets.

Classes had different starting accuracy in Poe1 not in Deadfire sadly. Every level up you get +3 accuracy and defenses, penetration and damage only scales with level if you use summoned weapons. If you are a monk or have monastic unarmed training and use fists they scale with power level which also kinda scales with level but can be modified further. For weapons yes it depends very much on your passives and actives and ofc the weapon enchantment. There are ofc quite a few classes better suited for weapons then others.

The list is not only misleading because it is called a tier list, even tho the assigned tiers are clearly wrong. No there is straight up wrong information which indicates no experience with the weapon by using it themselves, just assuming what a weapon does by reading the text.

Trust me it still works on any enemy, at first I thought it got changed as well, it's just if you have a single enemy without buffs it might seem like you're not gaining anything, that's why I mentioned ways to make the wall tick more often. edit: see following posts, maybe this is only the case on PotD.

One of the easier overlooked spells is Wall of Draining. You can prolong any buff wit it, including broken item buffs like Mind over Matter or Potion of the Final Stand. It works on any enemy including those who don't even have buffs to steal. And there is some cheesy ways to get additional duration out of it like using Pull of Eora to make the enmey having to cross the wall again and again to get to you, or simply making them walk towards you ON the wall.

Hm I guess the wiki is wrong then, no I haven't watched any of those videos I will look them up. edit: Yeah just looked it up and Gigantic isn't actually stun resistant, seems weird to me if Rogue can't stun it.

Well I was planning on using melee for Oozes and then just Mule kick (maybe with Wotep). Can the monk really stun? First form of the ooze is might resistant, second form is different however and should be stunnable for any class (and stunning first form doesn't matter anyway since there is no merge yet) edit: I just looked it up and even the Gigantic Black ooze is might resistant so it should not be possible to stun it and I'm not aware of a higher tier might affliction than stun
