  1. I dont think ciphers damage can be compared to a barb or rogue. Melee attacks (or maybe some ranged, when built right) deal the most damage in this game simply because there are more ways to buff them through abilities spells and gear. You can totally break the game with melee characters. I think dps wise the best are in order: barbarian, rogue, monk and then some casters. It all comes down to who attacks faster and more accurate and hits harder at the same time, with DR bypass. I don't think it's a coincidence that top dps are not included in the companions, it might be a design choice.
  2. Back when i posted this i did not know carnage dealt percentage based damage, about %60 of the primary attack.(it says static damage in prima guide, its wrong) So two weapons being better for carnage is actually wrong. If you go 2H weapons instead such as an estoc you'll do more damage per hit and bypass enemy DR more effectively, since you do a large amount of damage. So yeah unless you are not interrupted during combat you're better off with 2H weapons, especially for dealing damage with carnage aoe. You'll attack a bit slow but there are ways to increase your attack speed such as frenzy ability or a special weapon that gives attack speed. You should also max your dexterity.
  3. Thx for pointing that out Smorensky. I think that talent combo is overlooked by most players and it's a huge benefit for Barbarian. Makes him top dps imo.
  4. You can actually cast it multiple times before combat and they stack for some reason. With enough int, you can start the fight with like 20sec+ of 25+ accuracy for the whole party. didnt know about that thats probably a glitch.Omg that will totally break the game most fights last 15-20 sec anyway !
  5. I like the build but how about threatening presence it says it sickens enemy thats -20 fortitude meaning 20 more accuracy in most cases.
  6. A great way to get almost permanent +5 accuracy on your whole party is to get the accuracy talent on priest's holy radiance. The reason its almost permanent is that you can cast it outside the combat(weird i know!) and cast it again in the combat since it's 1 per encounter.
  7. I am also playing monk dps as my main character and i think its the most fun class coz you can send people flying while at the same time dealing huge damage on single target with swift strike. It gets rly hillarious in some fights where enemy has low fortitude and cant resist your knockdowns. Do you know how much heal you get with that racial ? Is it percentage based or a static number ?
  8. I think dumping con a bit is also ok, since you have such a huge HP pool anyway.Ie. I'd rather have 5 deflect than 15% more hp as Barb. Also, Orlin best racial for melee. I agree on cons you can make it 16 or 14 or even 12. You get cons bonus on frenzy aswell.
  9. I'd actually go for Dex on any melee character, Attack Speed > Extra Damage imho, due to how easy it is to get more damage, but extra attack speed is much rarer. Yeah that is why i raise both to at least 17. Barbarian frenzy also gives large attack speed bonus which is huge. You both attack fast and do big damage per hit which bypasses dr on tough enemies. I also take swift strike on my monk with max dex. Attack speed ftw.
  10. Stats matter on for example on a barbarian you can start with 21 might activate upgraded frenzy and make it 27 might which is 51 percentage based damage bonus without any other stat bonuses. It'll help you bypass dr even with normal hits which is rly helpful. On a rogue it might be less important.
  11. I play on hard difficulty with a fighter/monk/barb/cipher/druid/priest party that has huge dps in total and average fight duration for me is about 15-20 seconds, so chanter is pretty useless at the moment imo. It might be useful in the hardest difficulty, has anyone tried it ? how long do the battles take is it shorter or longer ?
  12. Bloodied is just too much of an increase in dps to ignore imo. You can easily use it to your advantage if you have a healer. The fights end really fast with a dps barb anyway. Thats why i take bloodied and also increase cons. to actually increase hp and not just endurance because you can keep fighting on if you have high hp and cons is huge boost since barbs have highest base hp value. I would lower int a bit to 16 or 14 its not as important as you think.
  13. I can definately see that will work, but i think it'd be better to have paladin tank with accuracy bonus aura and two melee dps min maxed offensively. Easy slaughter. Or two paladins and one barbarian that will slaughter groups of enemies with two handed DR bypassing aoe attacks+frenzy. Even better when backed up by a priest, also with accuracy and other sorts of buffs. (check holy radiance with accuracy boost, it can be cast BEFORE entering the combat and once more during the combat, only buff i know of that can be cast outside the combat)
  14. If you can keep your barbarian uninterrupted with a two hander, he'll kill everything in a few seconds. You must have a good tank and maybe an offtank/disabler such as Monk. Keep in mind that frenzy gives you a large attack speed bonus and huge percentage based damage bonus (you do %42 more damage with 26 might, upgraded frenzy) Even your carnage attacks will bypass enemy DR most of the time. So yeah.
  15. wizard high might and int medium dex and cons low resolve and per. barb high might and dex medium cons and int low resolve and per. you can go all the way to 20 for some stats with wizard but i dont suggest that on barb as he's melee and should not be too low on deflection. also check my guide there's barb tips: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/73658-barbarianmonkpriest-overpowered-combo/
  16. The overall dps bonus it'll give you is just not worth it in my opinion. Adds 5 damage per hit, but reduces how much damage per second? who knows it has many factors. Keep in mind that even some enemies in the FIRST dungeon have 30+ slashing/piercing/blunt DR. (check shades' DR stats on the combat log) You're really better off with a two handed estoc or something. Plus the OP plays a barbarian and aoe carnage hits have already reduced damage, and those hits will do minimum damage to high DR enemies if you dual wield.
  17. That one is possibly the worst talent in the game. It gives you DR bypass (really low) but at the same time deceases your attack speed. The DR bypass is so low that late game i bet you'll actually do less damage with the talent active, because attack speed and accuracy is where dps comes from. So increase your damage output and then decrease it? It is the most useless talent along with wizard's bonus level 1 spell talent, lol.
  18. Wizard npc has low might. Cipher is managable. All the companions in this game are faar away from being min maxed. If you're going to min max only one character i would go with one of barbarian/rogue/monk since they are the best dps when min maxed and properly protected by a tank. Personally i min maxed a barbarian while having a monk main char because they murder everyone especially the barb huge damage and aoe too.
  19. Best tactical option is to use two handed against high DR and dual wield against low DR. You can be effective on both since weapon focus talents have many different weapons in them, both one handed and two handed. I'm even considering getting both two weapon style and two handed style talents and switch my weapon set during fight accordingly.
  20. I like the fact that they don't stack. This way you can have different stat bonuses on different gear right ? It would be nice to have +2 dex +2 might +2 cons. on my monk.
  21. I was able to complete that dungeon with Aloth and Eder on level 3, but it took me around ten reloads. Use fire spells in hard fights (shades, phantoms) and use the doorway tactic to kill Skuldr Kings. Shades and phantoms are weak against fire only. Shadows can be killed easily but shades actually summon shadows and the summoned shadows die when the shade dies. All these creatures have huge slashing/piercing/blunt reduction that is why you can't kill them easily. Make sure your wizard does not get close right away at the start of the fight or the shadows will jump on him.
  22. There are other good spells in the game and as i said it's all really situational, if you keep changing spells for different scenarios your wizard will be very effective. A tanky wizard is definately viable in this game, even just that 6th level spell Citzal's Martial Power screams Battle Mage! in our faces Wizard is all about tactical flexibility, later on in the game once you have access to 5th and 6th level spells you'll be able to just cast all your spells in one tough fight and your wizard will act as a 'SKIP THIS FIGHT' button.
  23. Actually this is the reason i started a monk, and i'll use as many companions as possible. I only created the barbarian myself and others are all companions and it definately adds to the fun factor, which is all i care for. I took the cipher instead of wizard because wizard companion's stats seem like the weakest to me, and wizards are not so good in hard difficulty because you can only rest twice and end up auto attacking most of the time. That being said, wizards can just use all spells rapidly in one fight and allow you to move on. So it's all kind of balanced.
  24. My main character is Monk, with athletics and mechanics skills. Monk might seem a bit weak at start but DO NOT let it fool you. After level 4-5 or so it starts murdering people. My other characters are cipher and druid. Cipher will add even more crucial debuffs such as paralyze(will allow your dps to shine), and druid will add more heal/buff and some elemental damage. You may also change one of them with wizard, but i think others are a bit stronger at the moment. With the help of some enchants on front row equipment, this party build just cannot go wrong. It all synergizes very well in my opinion. The real aim of this build is to go through all the fights really fast(that is why i have no chanter!) and at the same time it's insanely fun to play.
  25. Keep in mind that there is a priest in this combo, which can keep him alive. Also, the fights will last shorter than you think with this party. The beauty of that talent is even if you are dying you'll take down a few with you because it's an insane boost. The last ability on barbarian will also allow you to execute some enhanced attacks before going down. So yeah the fight will probably end in your favor. Also check the armor i suggested. It lets you rise up when you are down. Hell you can even rise up again with a priest spell and murder some more!
