  1. Well, you're extremely over leveled for the content you're referring to. That's part of it.
  2. I also think these descriptors involve consideration of the NPC you're talking to. So it might be more along the lines of what is 'Rational' in their eyes, so you in turn receive that Reputation. And this is probably also meant to be a little conflicting at times, with the basis of the system centered around NPC's having different considerations of what it means to have each reputation. Turning off the visual tags helps immersion in any case.
  3. Not upset at all. And you do have a valid point in that there are a number of people who complain and only do that, to the point of ugliness. A lot of the same factors are at work in all of this. It's really easy to build up people who say similar things into one big entity on the internet, I think it comes from some pretty natural drives within us. And good god will this place wear you down.
  4. When did I ever say I wasn't enjoying the game? And you seem to have a misconception of why people complain. Most of them aren't trying to achieve anything outside of themselves, it's a natural response to frustration when they feel alone with a problem. Why do you expect people not to complain? Because that's the only jump I can take for how reactive you are to the mere concept. On the topic of what would help, first off, don't tell them to stop doing what they're doing and that they're not accomplishing anything. Be civil and maybe swallow your self image and imagine why they're unhappy before attacking them for it. I think it's unreasonable to assume they're arriving here with the idea that their complaints are going to fix everything. They're coming here because this is one of the only places they know they can. And yes the internet sucks. Terribly. But again, they're not coming here with the concept that, 'well let's go to the internet and see what they have to say!' They're coming here because it's the official forums. Yes there are trolls showing up as well, but carrying that suspicion around to every interaction is no better than being one yourself. One of the reasons the internet sucks as much as it does, is that people seem unable to approach complaints without the need to educate the person on why they shouldn't be complaining. This would be fine and well if everyone knew how to approach such a situation, knew how to communicate properly to pass on information when the other side is emotional or being told they're wrong. But the greater majority of us don't. It usually starts at condescending and just turns into insulting. So, what should people do? Make less assumptions about a person who's made a complaint. Realise that in most cases, it was purely personal that they need to say something in this forum. And realise that in most cases, you don't need to respond to them unless you have a solution. One thing that isn't a solution is telling them that they don't understand something or they don't have a grasp of how fortunate they are. The most important thing though, don't use them as a punching bag for your own self righteousness on being content. Entitlement can very well be an issue, but you're making a mistake lumping together emotional responses from hundreds of people and lumping them all together as a single entitled whole. They're alone on the other side and they feel more alone than they usually do because of their issue with this game. If you don't know what helping them would amount to, then maybe you should take that as a cue to not involve yourself.
  5. Maybe if it was worded differently. Since there are known issues of combat not ending, I'm pretty sure that's what they're referring to. I also don't think they'd pass up the opportunity to list it as its own separate thing. Not going to hold my breath.
  6. This doesn't feel like a beta. It feels more like we're serving as grunts for their QA team. Which I have to say, every time I'm reminded that Obsidian has a QA division, I'm still a little surprised. But one thing that does feel like a beta, is that if you come across a bug, they demand that you to report it like one. Hosting your own save files and stopping everything while instantly knowing the hows and whys that a bug just occurred, or else you're brushed aside or just ignored. There appears to be some kind of unwritten rule that you cycle as many save files as you possible can juggle for this very purpose. I guess you're a sad case if you're running Trial of Iron, where I've seen people laughed at because they decided to play that mode to start with... as if they had it coming, for choosing a mode that was provided. And having people continually show up to say that 'it's not the bad' or 'stop whining' or 'nothing broken on my end,' do absolutely nothing to help, let alone having moderators do that. Yes people are reacting strongly, but that also has to do with an established history of Obsidian games. There was a lot built up with Pillars that this time would be different. It will only be different in that everything more than likely will get fixed and the team wont have to do this on their own time, but that's about it. Anyone arguing that there isn't an inevitability of running into a major bug is being dishonest about the evidence that exists. And if people being unhappy with a product, or a game bother you so much... well I don't know what to say to you, it always comes off as a bit narcissistic over the internet when people belittle others for being unhappy. It just stinks of a 'I'm better than you because I can now take your honest reaction and put myself above it, thanks for the opportunity.' It's disgusting and it does nothing to help. And that's what a decent human being would do instead.
  7. I'm kinda devastated that there's nothing about abilities becoming permanently locked with the 'Already activated' status. There've been so many threads about this and it was something the popped up during the backer beta in September, which was also the last time we saw a Developer respond to a thread about it. But no big deal, just losing core abilities for the entirety of a play through unless you catch it first.
  8. Sadly, there was no information in the patch notes that seems to say this will be getting any type of fix. Nor have there been any developer responses in the numerous threads describing the encounter abilities becoming bugged. So who knows if this is even on their plate yet.
  9. Will this address issues with encounter abilities becoming permanently locked at 'Already activated'? I didn't seem to come across anything about it in the notes, and the unusable abilities seem to just keep piling up the longer I play.
  10. This is something that can happen to encounter abilities. Sadly, I don't see it listed as something that'll be fixed in the 1.3 patch, so you're likely going to be stuck with a broken skill for another couple weeks
  11. If it's anything like how gear stats work, you only receive the highest bonus available for each individual stat. So you can get a rested bonus, a consumable bonus, a skill bonus, and an item bonus. But you can't double up on them.
  12. No. It's been a week. We don't have an idea about what will and will not be fixed, nor if they'll be retroactive fixes or not. And their QA doesn't breed confidence. I have a feeling people will be freaking out for quite some time.
  13. This seems to be able to happen with any Encounter skill. I've lost my Ranger companion's Knockdown skill along with my Barbarian's heal. Both happened during the 7th level, but I'm not sure when, had already saved over when I realised.
  14. Full passive skill wipes, encounter abilities locking as 'Already activated', Ciphers losing the ability to gain focus, Ranger companions vanishing, whole maps being unaccessible, a DoT you can get that will never go away, getting permanently stuck in combat, and save files that break for good. I don't think all these issues came from people being 'drama queens.' But congratulations on your blackscreens, I wish I was just dealing with a game that would crash periodically but that's something that hasn't happened to me yet, so I'm just going to assume you're lying and making a big deal.
  15. I'd wait. Who knows what new problems will prop up with the next patch. And then another week or two wait to get that fixed. When it comes to game breaking bugs, they're sure taking their time to provide any fix for them. I don't understand why they're waiting for one big patch instead of using Steam at its fullest to provide the fixes as they come to them.
  16. Don't know how he's calculating it or how it's calculated in game. If the bonus is applied before or after damage reduction etc.
  17. Will the 'Already activated' encounter skill bug be dealt with as well? I haven't had the Knockdown ability on my Ranger since the 7th level.
  18. It actually says '+ x1' Damage. Look at any other ability and there's usually a + before the figures. Which is just another way of stating x2 as a total, but you'd never say + x2 unless it was tripling the damage.
  19. Eh, the bear cave is just an introduction to some common sense, get an idea about encounters before you engage them. But I was able to clear it on hard my first attempt with just my barbarian and Aloth.
  20. That thread is from September. All my saves are hours after it showed up. I don't even know initially when the Ranger companion Knockdown ability got bugged for me, but it was during the 7th level that I noticed it.
  21. This is a known issue. Not sure if the fix will be retroactive or what though. It's supposed to be addressed in the next patch.
  22. This happened to me for my Ranger's Fox Takedown ability and one of my Barbarian's abilities. Each one is single use for encounter and now locked with 'Already activated.' Both happened during the 7th level, by the time I noticed I had already saved over my game. Nothing changed when they reached 8th level, or rest or dismissing the Range and putting them back in the party. I'm really sad to this this was brought to their attention during the backer beta, but it appears nothing was done about it, nor have they responded to any of the threads I've seen connected to the Ranger pet ability or others. It seems like the only way you get a response is if you act immediately, provide save games and an output log. This is my first playthrough and after over 30 hours, something comes up. It's too bad I wasn't approaching this game as a beta test, because that appears to be what they expect if you're going to get any help.
  23. And at least if they do that, it'll give enough of a hint that maybe I should shelve this game for a few months and wait before investing any large amount of time into a play through.
  24. The patch is supposed to be released this, the week of the 30th. When did that change?
