  1. How did your Fog of War implementation turn out ? How is the UI coming along ? the longer the Contract VFX Artist position is open, does that mean you will have to wait until someone is hired to get VFX for spells etc or will you pull staff from the project / other projects to fill in ? What format are the game audio files going to be? Will you be using a form of compression or going for a higher-res format (such as uncompressed wav). Did you end up doing dynamic hair as well as dynamic cloth ? Hail Sensuki, The Fog of War is alright. I'm still not happy with it, so more work is to be done on it. The UI is coming along - the inventory screen is almost to alpha. Josh, and Kaz have spent a long time debating on how the inventory should work, and I think we have something that is functional and easy to use. We still haven't hired a VFX person for the project, and we have been using other people to create VFX in the meantime. The audio will be compressed b/c of file sizes - I'm not sure of the compression. We have done tests for dynamic hair but it's not in the game yet. We will revisit it down the road if time permits. -Adam
  2. I went home around 11:00 last night. I'll try to get to the rest of the questions throughout the day.
  3. Hi Hiro! Hope all is well! 1. The Vertical Slice has been done for some time, and right now we are over two months into production. We aren't planning on releasing a playable demo of the Vertical Slice or releasing a video of the VS. I know you are dying to see the game in action. Hopefully soon 2 - 6. You will get some more info on all of this soon. I apologize that it's taking us so long. The badges, memorial stone, item, NPC, adventuring party, and portraits will be connected with the fulfillment site. I've seen it! It's looking great. 7. Mac version is going good, and we are working on the Linux version. Unity makes it easy with porting it over, which has made my life easier. 8. Justin has been pretty busy with composing new music for the game, and has been working with real live musicians (and choir) recently. I was present at a rehearsal session last week, and it's an awesome experience to hear the music played live. 9 - 10. The novella and Tim's cooking book is going to be released with the game. I don't want to step on their toes - but everything is coming along well. Cheers! -Adam
  4. As Josh has stated, there's going to be a mix of mostly hand placed items with random items thrown into the mix. The loot system is designed to change loot and random (or non random) drops across the entire game quickly.
  5. Hail! I'm reading the forums, taking a break from programming, and just wanted to say hello and good night. It's 9:30 here at Obsidian. Late night! Feel free to ask some questions, and I'll do my best to answer what I can before I leave for home. Cheers, -Adam
  6. Hail, We have a new job posting for the Project Eternity team. http://www.obsidian.net/jobs/open-positions/design/679-pe-contract-writer Thanks, Adam
  7. mstark will go mad if they don't, lol. I don't know if this was ever confirmed, did Gus Amador join Obsidian as an Environment Artist for P:E or some other game? Gus is not working on Project Eternity.
  8. We aren't using Unity's lightmapper, so probe lights couldn't be used. We have some ideas for alternatives that we are investigating.
  9. We haven't done a production update in some time. I'll talk to Brandon about it.
  10. What are these differences? Physically these differences are where hair grows on them. Wild Orlans are covered with a coat of hair on every inch of their bodies, including the face. On the other hand Hearth Orlans have tufts of hair the ears, but otherwise the face is covered with hair much like a typical human. The Orlan detective concept depicts a Hearth Orlan.
  11. Village is by Rob Nesler and the Ogre is by Polina. The Skuldr was modeled and textured by James Chea.
  12. The next update should be up very soon. We had difficulties with video compression tonight. I apologize for the delay.
  13. You will get the extra items that were offered in the $20/$25 dollar tier levels for a limited time via Slacker Backer.
  14. I can confirm that none of that is PE related besides the Orlan Detective and Sagani.
  15. Haha. Good *orlan* detective skills. Kaz joined full time at Obsidian last month. He is a frequent visitor to the forums so you may see him on here from time to time.
