I just like to add a third item: More setpiece battles. Where we the players have to out-think the opponents who hold advantage in some way (higher ground, race against the clock, etc...)

Why hate being a watcher?
brionkj replied to Nonor_Battlehammer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
After Obs got burned for the Soul Eater mechanics in MotB, I think they've sworn off actual in-game 'curse' effects. Quite a pity actually... -
Is the Honeymoon Stage Over?
brionkj replied to VahnXIII's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There was a 'honeymoon period'? I must have missed it or it was before PoE was released and I had not registered myself Anyway, I've not known a single official game forum that's not filled with wailing, gnashing of teeth, and complaints, especially at release. It's par for the course. You are more likely see negative comments and complaints from dissatisfied players as they want let the devs know the issues they are facing. The satisfied bunch have very little reason to post apart from thanking the devs. -
What planet are we on?
brionkj replied to Corylea's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's a single sun in the sky as far as I can tell based on the lore provided in-game. However Eora does have two moons - with one that has a more irregular orbit. I wonder if two moons might have any significant impact on the calendar. -

Here's an explanation of Iroccian Calendar from the in-game books: http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Calendar 27 hours is still weird though, as we are used to being able to break the hours down equally between night and day. -
What planet are we on?
brionkj replied to Corylea's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah but what difference does it make since game time proceeds at a different rate anyway? Why display it as 27 hours per day? :mystery: Maybe it's just the devs way of showing '...we're not in Kansas anymore' -
How long to beat the game? (Poll)
brionkj replied to Veynn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Apparently someone finished the game in 40 minutes via gamebreaking glitches: http://kotaku.com/someone-beat-pillars-of-eternity-in-under-40-minutes-1697709938 -
too much random junk
brionkj replied to Ichthyic's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Except destroying the economy by making you richer than all the kings in the world? Looks like the game is trying to beat Skyrim's record of "Get mega rich by doing nothing and have no challenge at saving money." It's a single player game, there's no such thing as an economy. There's no AH or trading among players. Also PoE is not a game about economy ala Eve. There's a lot of things that can be improved in PoE, trash drops being the least important... ridiculous. if stores simply gave you items for free, then there indeed would be no economy, but you KNOW what the person you are responding to was talking about. stuff costs money in this game, but, with unlimted junk to sell, that makes it meaningless in all but name. The thing is you are focusing on the symptom instead of the addressing the actual problem - which is the Stash. Remove the ability to add stuff into the Stash at any time, then you'd have less issue of this so called 'game economy'. -
I suspects it happens outside of PoTD too, as I remembered Dank Spores seem to have a seemingly endless supply of domination on my team.

Kinda agreed with this idea instead of dropping it to 0. Perhaps roughly enough to cast half the level of their maximum level powers eg. A cipher with who has max level 4 powers should be able to cast their level 2 powers with the starting focus in their "tank". That said I have not really explored the focus gain of a non-blunderbuss Ciphers to really make a proper estimate of what their focus gain rate is like...

Yes it's half of their full focus. If Ciphers started with 0 focus, it makes them quite useless as most battles are generally quite short. They are meant to have the opposite playstyle of wizards, being such front-loaded class. What's actually needed is to buff the weaker classes (wiz, monk and ranger), or at least provide them with more versatility. Or on the Cipher side, just need to tone down the OP Mental Binding, and do not allow the blunderbuss to give ciphers so much focus.

Obsidian should make it a llittle more obvious that the flood has blocked the road to Twin Elms IMO

Not sure if it is working as designed, but this just happened to me: Was fighting a small group of Guls and my cipher casted Mind Blades. There was an adjacent room but the door was closed. His mind blades does its usually jump across enemies and then flew past the closed door and hit a Gul (which I didn't see due to fog of war) behind the door in that room, which of course aggro-ed them and brought another large group of Guls into the combat. While the unexpected challenge was fun, is this a bug?

No party AI?
brionkj replied to Falconhurst's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Just to add, I believe your team will continue auto-attack once you've given any attacking style command, and they will also switch to a new target when the previous target is dead or charmed. So there's little need to micromanage their auto-attacks unless you'd like concentrate fire. However utility casters like the Chanter and Priest do need some micromanagement, as they will just stay put after casting utility, summons and buff spells. -
No party AI?
brionkj replied to Falconhurst's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Considering that most thrash mobs are easily killed with auto-attacking (in Act 2 / 3): 1. Bind a key to select all team members. 2. When encounter thrash mob, select all 3. Press A 4. Click on mob to kill 5. Rinse & repeat until all thrash mobs are dead. What Obs need to do is rebalance Act 2 and 3, so that the mobs are a little more challenging IMO. -
No immunities
brionkj replied to Cronstintein's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
While I'm all for introducing some form of "Immunity" (ie High DR), I think the game devs have to very careful with it. I don't want it to end up gimping certain classes like Rogues vs Undead in NWN2. They'd certainly have to rebalance the enemies across the whole game. I'm not holding my breath for an official rules change, so perhaps a fan mod?
