  1. Sound sensible to me. Cut throug th red tape and all that. British born, of British blood, but arrived via the colonies, doncherknow.
  2. I have to say that whole thing with those vamps creeped me out enormously. Genius. My avatar is the one and only Spider Jerusalem of Transmetropolitan. I'm sure my adoration would only be met with pure cold loathing were he alive to provide it.
  3. I believe I may have already mentioned this, but anyway... Mmmm... rumbly.
  4. It is moving towards autumn here. Autumn is what you colonials would have if you could spell difficult words. Soon the neighbour's garden will be alight with salamandrine flickers, and we can begin celebrating the annual toasting of the rebellious Catholics. It will also be prime pub season.
  5. You'd need to do something truly wacky to take down the President, even in jest. And then you'd get sent to jail. Or shot. But I'd love you and cherish your memory.
  6. He that is lost ...too often is standing where he wants to be.
  7. It is not confined to the US. Anyway, if you recall I send a warning about this before. NEVER hand out your CC details to any bank or organisation online.
  8. Much interesting stuff. I can see most of the stands taken, but here's my angle: When a games company is forging ahead and attempting to do neat stuff. When a games company gives me some credit for intelligence. When a games company feeeds me creepy darkness and humour into the mix. This is the time when I quit bitching about small bugs. Boo bloody hoo someone is clipping into a rock, or a keycard isn't obvious, or it feels as if I'm stuck. I've been given an adventure that takes me into another world, and gives me new choices, and makes me think new things. That's a goddamn rpg, not bashing a console. It's a whole package. And EA obviously make what people want. I don't buy their games like I don't shop at IKEA. It's a personal choice and you're free to do as you like. I just think that as what amounts to connoiseurs we owe it to our own community to point out the successes in origianl challenging games rather then dwell endlessly on the easy points. It's like criticising Einstein for not being able to spell.
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagain/wedn...y/rams/2300.ram Free transmission from the Mighty Beeb of the Mighty Boosh. Can a man with a generic face conquer another man who molests deer, aided by a man who seems to be channeling the spirit of Mick Jagger? And what role does their boss, Bob 'Chinese Bear' Fossil have to do with the appearance of a heavily armed helicopter gunship in the skies?
  10. I'm currently stuck trying to complete Vampire Bloodlines . And was just thinking: what the hell happened to all the bright talented chaps who made this now that Troika sank without trace? And for that matter, why did they sink?
  11. Well nuts to alla youse! I'm enjoying Fallout Tactics for the first time. Yes it's simply a combat game, but It's enjoyable and it runs on my work PC!
  12. I won't be happy with D&D until I can class as a crotchety old drunk.
  13. Yar. Game works fullscreen on my desktop. Mmmm... shiny... *coughs* I mean: Mmmmm... post-apocalyptic wasteland....
  14. Looks a damn sight shinier than my Novatech!
  15. Now that's sly! We will give it a try. I don't know if it will work in DOSBOX, because this is an adapted version specially for winxp.
  16. I must be honest and say I only made it half way through. I found the structure of the piece hard to follow when written. Maybe as a speech it would work better. The central argument appears to be: Wikipedia is anice idea, but it sucks because it is abused, and is often wrong. This is true, but then EVERYTHING I've ever seen that exists purely online is poorly researched by comparison with hardcopies, and partisan. Indeed much mainstream journalism is no worse than Wiki. I find wiki's accessibility, and the fact that it is obviously amateur helps keep one in the correct frame of mind.
  17. I think my large rabbit friend there has a point. You may as well get on with it, because you can't avoid it. And you can't dodge it either! Best to let it flow through you cleanly.
  18. If you like the show why encourage people to steal it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How is it stealing if I pay for viewing the station, like cable or satellite or whatever? What is the difference with using TiVo or VCR and downloading an episode that I missed? As long as they're not on DVD it ain't stealing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You have my fullest apologies there, sir. I jumped to the wrong conclusion. I can only plead the unusual heat today in the UK.
  19. If you like the show why encourage people to steal it?
  20. I just bought the shiny new FO pack, and have rewarded my subcontracted techie by putting it on his PC and giving him time to relax by playing it. But the presentation is this tiny window in the middle of his monitor. He has a laptop, if that makes any difference. Any suggestions on how to fix this? We've tried setting the screen prefs, and the prefs for the game in compatibility.
  21. Ahhhh! The rise of the machines! They've come to throw off their chains!
  22. I figured that was your intent, mate, since you started the thread! I think these weak argument disasterously undermine what is going on in Iraq/Afghanistan. We need to focus on the future, not how we got here. We need solid sensible bloody arguments, not outright lies. It's not as if there's any shortage (in my opinion).
  23. I don't think the rules system has owt to do with it. We've played cyberpunk pnp with Vampire rules, and vice versa. No bother.
  24. Ah... but I am playing ye olde magslayer archetype and have no fething magic! And my six foot friend is correct. Ye can't run away for ever. I rather suspect I may have to try and escape and come back with trousers awash with healing gubbins.
  25. *tries manfully to resist, but fails* "The criime iissss life. The ssssentence issss deaaaath..."
