  1. I convinced her with logic that I will keep between the two of us. I will note that you did attempt to move in on the border between the two of you. How does that speak of your alliance with her? And perhaps if plans worked out she would have gotten a build. I thank you for the compliment, but I see it as an obvious way to try and point me out as a threat. Given Turkey's poor position when I inherited it, and Turkey's continued poor position, I don't think Turkey is a threat to anyone right now, save for possibly Austria, and even then, only with support.
  2. Warren Buffet, once the richest man in the world said that if you make 100,000 dollars a year and you still pay taxes you are an idiot. I'm paraphrasing a bit but I don't recall the exact quote. My parents used to own and operate a telemarketing company among various other small businesses. Certain states like Maryland allow you to incorporate yourself, and have a corporation of one person. You don't even have to reside in Maryland. Your corporate papers do. Everything that you spend suddenly becomes a business expense, and you are you really taxed on income that you don't spend. I can vouch personally that the wealthy can easily get around paying taxes. We also don't tax capital gains too much because we don't want to ruin the stock market, but again, we are taking it easy on the rich. Those that are rich and pay taxes, do pay a higher rate, and I personally find no fault with that. I don't want pure socialism, and I don't want pure capitalism. This country has always been a blend of both, and I think it should stay that way, though people will argue over the specific blend of the two.
  3. I'll let Sarah speak on behalf of my talents at dropping down, but I've never had a problem with my goatee.
  4. Bored of the Rings failed to entertain me, Desperate Housewives entertains me. I judge them on different standards as they are completely different pieces of work, just as I would judge, say, Meet Joe Black and The Simpsons with different standards. Boring and pretentious movie vs. intelligently written television satire. Apples and oranges. :D I just know I'm going to come to regret writing that... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I said before that I can understand and support someone just not caring for LotR. You said Peter Jackson was a no-talent hack. You blamed him for the story of the movies, which he didn't write. If you've read the novels, you'd find they are filled with far more asides, poetry and lingual non-sense. They are even more slow, and more boring. People either love the world or don't. The story's climax is misplaced, which Jackson made some effort at fixing. But Jackson created a seamless, visually stunning world with good acting performances. The editing was tight on a huge story. People called the story unfilmable for 50 years. He made it happen. You also completely discount his previous works such as Meet the Feebles, the Frighteners and Heavenly Creatures. All are well shot, well editted, well made films. Since you can't differentiate not caring for the story (the area where PJ had the least responsibility for) and his technical merit as a director, I'd say that makes you a poor supposed expert at film. Also, calling 3 of the most critcally acclaimed movies of all time rubbish means you have poor taste.
  5. Millions could have died if Kerry went into office. He promised a pull-out of troops in six months if you recall. Iraq is a country of 30 million and it would have imploded. He voted to go into war. And then he was going to leave the place in worse condition than he started. And how did Bush lie to start the war? I watched the speech when he announced we were going in. He cited a few things. One - Iraq had WMD. The intel of the entire world said he did, and we have proof he used them on his own people. Intel also suggests that when we gave him plenty of warning those same WMD left Iraq into Syria. We did find trace amounts of illegal WMD, storage facilities, training facilities, manuals for the use of WMD, and illegal missles with biological weapons in them. Did Iraq have WMD? Yes. Did Bush operate off intel the entire world was agreeing with? Yes. I love when people suggest that Bush just made all this up. If that was the case, then why did Clinton say the same thing? Then why did the UN pass over 75 unanimous security resolutions finding that Iraq was in violation of the cease-fire agreement? The same people who insist that Bush lied to create an incident that has been around for over 20 years also usually insist that this is all about oil. Too bad we've spent over 100 billion dollars of our money to take care of Iraq, and we haven't stolen a single drop of oil. Please demonstrate how thousands of people have died over his lies. Because I feel that you are only one lying here. I'm a Democrat by platform, but most of the people who oppose the war are operating off media lies and suppositions rather than facts. Don't start this arguement unless you know what you're getting into. I'll bury you. 2 - Bush noted that we had legal authority to enter Iraq. The original cease-fire was based upon Iraq's compliance, which they were in violation of. Thereby, UN law said the cease-fire was invalid, and the UN had voted unanimously for military action against Iraq in the first place. In addition, there was a unanimous security resolution telling Iraq to immediately comply or else. That was right after 9/11, some 2 years before we moved in. Considering that the UN contined to find them in violation, I think the "or else" clause kicks in. 3 - Partisan politics tends to overlook 30 million people in a country where Saddam was in power. Rape and murder was the law. The man shut off food and water to towns, and people were living in caves to flee Saddam's power as he attempted to practice genocide. I guess people shouldn't make any effort to preserve 30 million lives or stop genocide. That wouldn't be a valid reason at all. Now, I'm REALLY hoping that you come back and attempt to argue that we shouldn't have gone in, that we should have ignored genocide, and that 30 million lives aren't worth saving. Just wait to see what I have to say about that. And if you really want to step in the ring with me, I suggest you start at factcheck.org because I will call you on sources.
  6. I'm sure he believes in his cause, which is to further himself. This is a guy who one day votes for the Patriot Act and then the next day say the Patriot Act is destroying the counrty. Then in a debate, he defends voting for the Patriot Act but says it needs reform. His rival is also calling for reform of the act, and then Kerry the next day says we should just remove it. So what does he stand for? He's staunchly Catholic, except for the two largest Catholic issues right now. He's for gay marriage rights, and then he isn't. He voted to go into war, but he doesn't support it. Can you please tell me what exactly his cause is and how he honorably stands up for it?
  7. Why? The DVD's are up for preorder right now. It is one of the better TV shows I have seen in a long, long time. I am withholding calling it the best TV show I've ever seen because it is a single season, but it may be the best first season I've ever seen. Some great shows often really move into their prime in the third season and only get better. I really hope that is the case, where as Alias started a downward turn in the third season.
  8. I think Kerry is anything but honorable. Those that know him really well have nothing but bad things to say about him, and he has been caught lying about more things than I can remember. How can you be honorable without integrity? He and Edwards also had the two worst voting records in Congress. If he can't show up to do his job, then why promote him? Bring on McCain.
  9. If disagreeing with someone's tastes constitutes flaming than the internet must be hotter than the sun. I didn't call Vixen names nor do I ever intend to. However, I think she has horrid taste.
  10. Spellmar is having a heart attack.
  11. Most previews I've read suspect the game will be much better than the first. I'm not downloading a demo that large however.
  12. Last I heard it hadn't been released in the US and the last article I found said the English release was still stalled. If Gothic II got an English release, I'm curious why I've never seen it on sale.
  13. Call of Cthulu and Deadlands are also both followed by the RPG communities as we hope these two titles will have RPG elements. But I haven't seen anything to suggest either will yet. They are just FPS games based on RPG licenses. I fear Shadowrun will be the same. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  14. So a bucket of fried chicken won't work? I need a live chicken?
  15. As soon as someone emails it to me, I'll post it.
  16. The PC powers on just fine. My drives aren't getting power. I pulled out anything unnecessary and just put power to one optical drive and one hard drive, but nothing. I pulled the HDD out and it worked just fine in another PC. I've tried 3 power supplies.
  17. Out of curiosity, what time's that for us SoCal homies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would be like 10 in the morning.
  18. Define sub par though. I, personally, wouldn't go anything below the IE games. While I'm not a graphics whore, I do need some degree of graphics to immerse myself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 2D games like the IE and Fallout games is good. Blocky 3D games or where I can see the pixels is bad. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Prerendered games looked so much better than early actual 3D games.
  19. Desperate Housewives is a fine show and Peter Jackson is a hack? Remind me again to never pay any attention to your tastes.
  20. I'd vote for McCain. I really hope Clinton doesn't get the nod.
  21. I was thinking GTA:SA would be a good way to relieve stress in the delivery room. I could use a good stress relief right now.
  22. ***Ender influence gained ***
  23. WeaponsMaster gets the best feats and can destroy anything without the need for Force Powers, yet still have plenty of FPs to boot. Besides, who really needs any other Force Powers than Force Wave and Master Speed?
  24. Meta, why post the same thing in atleast three threads at once?
  25. http://www.etherealsoftware.com.au/forum/ ThePal did some incredible mods, including the unofficial patch and Life to Morrowind.
