  1. I certainly don't mind, though you are right that France may rest control in a few turns either way.
  2. My God. I just figured out what the numbers are and I want to scream. There are communities that break down every time any of the numbers appear and search for various meanings. They haven't found anything concrete for those numbers. Well, I finally unlocked the secret of the numbers. Are you ready? 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 are all numbers that have been retired by the New York Yankees. In order, Gehrig, Berra/Dickey, Munson, Whitey Ford, Mattingly and Jackie Robinson. The Yankees are the Evil Empire, so naturally the numbers represent all that is evil!
  3. I would like to nominate that we find a replacement player for Aishur.
  4. So what are we doing with the game? Losing two players at once puts a serious wrench in the game. I see three options: 1 - The players in both cases have decided to hand over their nation to another player. We could continue the game and do just that. 2 - We find new players to step in. 3 - We end the game. I don't really consider continuing with 2 nations in anarchy to be an option. The point of the game is Diplomacy, and losing 2 players destroys diplomacy since the players aren't there to make deals with.
  5. Interplay even has a new website that looks like a five-year old did it.
  6. I don't want to spoil the story and mention moments that personally got ot me, but it was a unique cast of characters in a unique setting with a fairly unique story. I didn't care for Tidus too much as the protagonist, but I'd argue that Luke Skywalker and Neo are equally weak protagonists and yet don't hold back Star Wars and the Matrix respectively. With FFX, you have personal stories with Tidus and his father, as well as dynamics between Wakka and his dead brother, Tidus and Yuna, etc. Given that 95% of the RPGs I play fall on the same tired cliches, I think FFX of a good looking game with a good story.
  7. No, Interplay exists as a shambling zombie and Interplay sold the rights to Bethesda. Oddly enough, in the deal to sell the Fallout rights to Bethesda, Interplay kept the rights to do a Fallout MMO. Bethesda has the rights to do Fallout sequels on PC, consoles and wireless devices. (Cell phone Fallout games?)
  8. Maybe a bit late; but spoiler tags added... -Battlewookiee
  9. Every single crash I encountered on the XBox version was due to a bad disc. The game kept tried to load data and couldn't read the disc. Once I put the game on my HDD, I never once had a single issue.
  10. Given that the deadline is approaching and I only received orders from one player, I assume some of you need an extension. Eru also asked to join the game, and now I need to verify that he is in fact taking Alanschu's place. I also want to make sure he has an ample opportunity to establish diplomatic ties and play a full turn. So I will extend the deadline a couple days to the 4th.
  11. 5:00 PM US Central (GMT -6)
  12. Good stories were told in the Infocom games without art. One does not require visuals to tell a story, but good visuals can be a tool to assist in telling a story. Everyone talks about style over substance, but one does not proclude the other. We could have a visually stunning game with a good storyline. Final Fantasy X is probably a good example of that.
  13. So long as your "hud" is a router, you should be fine. You'll need two seperate Live accounts.
  14. Ultima IX and Morrowind, simply because I received the soundtracks as part of my special pre-order packages.
  15. Bethesda said officially that their Fallout 3 will have absolutely nothing to do with Van Buren.
  16. Shareaza connects to the eDonkey network like eMule, but also connects to Gnutella and Gnutella2, and downloads bitTorrents. Shareaza is da bomb, fo nizzle.
  17. I think those are very good picks. People are overlooking the Mets.
  18. I'm fired. Good catch.
  19. The original post wasn't about democracy, but rather flag waving. Those in power who take pride in themselves are seen as arrogantly gloating, but those who are minorities or not on power can take pride in themselves. I think the double-standard is pretty stupid. I also think any generalization applied to 290 million people is stupid.
  20. Starting with Darque.
  21. I like pie. I hate the Yankees. That is all.
  22. Some of the reviews from people who actually saw the movie said it wasn't horrible.
  23. I am assuming that Jags is teasing Meta. The actor you are thinking of is Jean Reno, and he still does action oriented roles. The problem is that his character is dead at the end of Leon. Natalie Portman could be in the sequel. At first glance the movie might appear to be about Matilda being forced to grow up due to harsh circumstances, but given the visual metaphor of the plant finally getting roots, I believe the film was really about Leon. A second film could be about Matilda having trouble adapting to normal society and longing for the deadly world she briefly shared. As an adult, she returns to Danny Aiello's character, Tony, and wants in the cleaning business. She wants to wack anyone even remotely associated with Stansfeld. She is not content that Stansfeld is dead, because the death of Leon has left a huge void in her life. Along the way she inadvertently endangers the life of someone who is romanticly pursuing her. She is emotionally unavailable due to her feelings for Leon, but gains perspective as she inadvertently leads to her innocent suitor's death and is forced to reevaluate the world she lives in and her place in it.
  24. Maybe he wasn't abandoning the Republic. The Ebon Hawk carried the Exile into Peragus, and Revan could have orchestrated much of KOTOR:2 from the shadows. And maybe Revan was protecting the Republic by leaving. Maybe the greater threat would seek him out, and by leaving, the Republic wouldn't get caught in the cross-fire.
