Whatever happened to Dave Hendee?
EnderAndrew replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Developers' Corner
Was he a personal assistant? Perhaps he assisted Alan's person! -
You can always herd Volourns. Or chocolate, or watches....

My view on larping, PnP, or whatever, is that the game is likely only going to be as fun as rewarding as the the group will allow. Systems and rules be damned. I don't care for D&D rule sets, but with the right DM and group, I can have a good time dropping dice. LARPing is the same way. Some people don't care for the concept, or have had bad experiences. It depends upon the group. LARPing is generally more player driven than DM/GM/ST driven.

With sites like rotten.com and consumptionjunction.com it fluctuates. At times it's stupid material. But I've seen some pretty horrible things over the years. I saw a man being devoured by a lion in front of his family. I've seen terrorists executing people (slow beatings, torture, decapitations, etc). And I've seen things I can't even begin to describe here.

Not all Americans are stupid. Some of us are just inbred.

I've never really listened, but I'm tempted to call in some night with the most crack-pot theory I can make up and try to sell it. I've considered trying to convince the listeners that Delaware doesn't really exist as a state. It's a government research facility far larger than Area 51. Area 51 is the red herring, and Delaware is actually home to all the super-secret projects. Then you guys turned around and named your project Delaware. I thought that was cute.

The march into Russia occured after the march west. The allied forces (British and French) were beaten fairly easily. Hitler then got c***y and tried to take over everything at once. He had troops in Africa for crying out loud. Even with only a small amount of troops in Western Europe, he had quite a hold. There were these woods outside Paris (Bellau Wood - spelling?) where the Germans were deeply entrenched for years. There was heavy fog, low visibility and far too many german machine guns. Even the US army got tooled there. It wasn't until a smaller US Marine force got into those woods that the Germans were repelled and France was reclaimed for the Allies. Stalin pulled back into Russia and baited Hitler in. Stalin did build his Eastern block in countries that people didn't seem to care too much about, but that was the tail end of the war. He was bold in staking a claim in half of Germany. But he also built a buffer to protect Russia in those countries. I doubt the world would have idly sat by and let Russia take a hold all the way in Western Europe with countries like France. I think the fact that's glazed over in US history books in the death toll. We always hear about the 6 million Jews, but we rarely hear about the 20 some odd million Russian deaths, 3 million Poles, etc. I've never heard this. And maybe it's because we're too busy handing out money to a bunch of countries around the world. Russia would probably be a victim of civil war if we hadn't been giving them relief packages to afford heating and food. And every time the UN has an issue that needs dealing with, it is the US that spends dollars and lives taking care of it. (In all fairness, Canada has always been right alongside the US in being first to volunteer troops and resources in every conflict, but Canada's resources are so much smaller that most people don't mention them). Most conflicts that the United States started have had relatively small death tolls in comparison to the millions killed by Germany in the twentieth century. And let's see. How many wars did the United States start? Vietnam. Started by the French. The US bailed them out. Korea, started by the Koreans. We bailed them out, and then we were stupid and pushed too far North. Korea was an exorcise in stupidity on many levels. Afghanistan - started by the Afghani and Russian people. We helped out. Iraq in '91. - Started by Iraq invading Kuwait. The UN asked the US to step in. There have been small military deployments (Grenada, etc) all the time. But I wouldn't call any of those wars. So you may be hard pressed to find an actual WAR that the US started.

I have great respect for football/soccer. I love playing it. I just can't watch it.

Watching Kobe in game 3 on the bench and in the post-game, he didn't seem worried or too much. The Lakers have tried to focus their offense through Shaq (which I think was the best call) and they lost. I think that has to placate Kobe's ego in this ongoing feud. Malone and Payton are hall-of-fame players, but they're past their prime and they're not really contributing. It's time to rotate younger bodies in.

Download Spybot Search and Destroy, Lavasoft Adaware, a good HOSTS file and some anti-virus software. No computer with a net connection should be without these. I also recommend a browser with built-in pop-up blocking.

The Art Bell show isn't the Art Bell show anymore. It's simply Coast to Coast, and Art Bell has retired. (My buddy is a big fan, and listens to only AM radio anyway)

I don't care for insects in general, so I let the spiders live in my house. They eat the other bugs.

France also forgets we helped them get their independence. And then we bailed out France twice from German invasions. If it wasn't for the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of troops, they'd be speaking German in France these days. Yeah, France keeps forgetting that when they bad mouth us. And most of the countries that bad-mouthed the US going into the Iraq war were screaming our motives were based upon oil. Yet the countries screaming where teh countries that had oil contracts with Iraq (France, Russia, etc.) And these were also countries that receive money from the U.S. They love taking our money and then turning around bad-mouthing us.

Yep. LARPing has it's advantages and disadvantages. It's very difficult to run a LARP game. However, in the Camarilla I got to get away from the "screen" and play every once in a great while.
-
I've run most systems out there. I don't care for D20 or D&D. I prefer Legend of the Five Rings, the old West End Star Wars, and the World of Darkness. I'm usually behind the screen, and also did a good 3-4 year stint running a large LARP chapter in the Camarilla.

Confucius say: Virgin like balloon. One prick, all gone.

I see sex as being like coffee. Great coffee is wonderful. It really makes my day. Bad coffee just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Ick.

Can we have Calvin-Ball as a mini-game?

Hmmm.... Where was it that I read that Buddha taught that selfishness was silly since the self doesn't exist? I've been really sleep deprived this week. But I know at least one sect had this take that the self was a lie. It really turned me off. Supposedly it was rooted directly in Buddha's teachings. I'm no expert on Buddhism. I try to study a little bit of all religions. Confucianism comes across as a crock to me. Sure the guy was smart. However, like much of the Hindu system, it appears to be a belief set created by those in control who wish to remain in control. I'm not a big fan of theocracies. And I'm not looking for definitive answers on Buddhism. There are far too many different sects and takes on Buddhism. I'm curious what your takes are.

Face and Cloth Editor in KOTOR 2
EnderAndrew replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think that "rule" is BS. It's a rumor started on the Bioware boards. Other LucasArts games have modding tools. Akari went on record of saying once on this forum that if they were able to, they would release the model format. When asked directly, the devs gave some great reasons why they're not releasing tool sets. The data formats change frequently during the development process. Not all the coding is perfectly notated. Games are either designed from the get-go to work with an editor, or not. And while a full tool-set won't be released, I think they should release the model format post-launch. -
I'm shocked no one is talking about these new Force powers. Where the heck do these come from?

If there was also a feat to dual-wield, then yes.

Are you suggesting we export our crotch rot?

I think there is a trend in the United States of kids to have sex younger and younger. I've known a few people to maintain virginity into their twenties, but they are the exception.
