It's odd. The Star Wars universe encourages this concept that using the force to injure someone is inherently dark. However, using your skill in the Force to augment your ability with a lightsaber to kill is fine. Don't ask me why.

Spellmar is a friendly service intended to encourage good spelling. Spellmar can not differentiate between typos (of which I too am guilty) and spelling mistakes. After I post, I reread my post two times usually, and edit typos. I'm neurotic, but I'm also quite dyslexic like you. And while I have no qualms with you being an aetheist (nor do I have any desire to debate religion) I find your statements instantly discrediting the validty of religion to be rather close-minded. Scientific theory is based upon the notion that we don't know anything and we're trying to better understand the world we live in via theories and postulates. This concept that we know anything to be absolutely true or false is foolish and closes our mind to true knowledge. Believing strongly in a concept is one thing. However all beliefs should be able to stand the test of questioning.

It wouldn't be fair to write a book about her without her permission. I wrote a poem about her. I've considered compiling a nice portfolio of said poetry and trying to get it published, but like the book, I wouldn't publish this without her permission. The poem isn't overtly angry nor flattering. It merely describes one particular moment we shared. Shortly after I told her I wouldn't marry her, we went out to a camp site for a Ren Faire she was working. While covered in sweat and dirt I reached out to her. Feel free to criticize said poem if you so desire. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Parched Blame it on the hot California sun All that smog and radiation can't be good for the brain But there I stood, like a silent shadow; no longer did you hang off my every gesture, nor reach for my hand at the hint of trepidation Our arguments lay behind us; our bed, our lives lay thrashed like some heinous car wreck we were glad to walk away from So, what was left to say really? Logistics aside, I went from lover to stranger and from there I would soon disappear but that day there were errands to run Life had to continue We walked through the camp, dirty, sweaty and parched We had suffered the freeways and failed air conditioners What else was there to do? The heat of a thousand suns would have been a welcome respite from 'our home'... our home Such an odd thing to say now, despite those memories of meals and moments shared together We should have known when we fought over the decor that our occasional bliss was, was... It danced just beyond the horizon of my memories like the heat induced madness I felt that moment God, it wasn't fair! You bent over to take a sip of water from the spigot and I was caught unaware You claimed to be surprised by the gesture but really, I was France and you were the Howitzer I watched your hair fall to the side of your face like napalm falling on Dresden Sweat, filth and ichor could not mar the f***ing undeniable power your every gesture command over me So as I reached out to wash you in cool water I thought nothing of repercussions I did not look back to the masochistic struggles of months past to sever the ties that bound us We could not simply accept our inability to have a 'healthy relationship' I hacked at the problems, and hacked at your clinging grasp like a madman severing an infected limb Now that the pain was behind us, and 'separation' achieved, my defenses fell like the mighty walls of Jericho I was powerless in your presence I thought only of you as I draped the water across the nape of your neck Perhaps it was rare that I touched you thusly, even in our moments of lovemaking I looked back and saw that childlike awe and excitement as you realized again that you were mine How cruel could I be, to let that seep through? Your flesh was bare, but that was nothing new It was the core my clich

Buddhism is based on four truths (or one truth see in four steps depending on how you see it). Suffering is caused by desire. Yet, the goal is Buddhism is to change. Isn't the desire to change a desire in and of itself? Hmmm.... "I'm questioning my education Rewinding, what does it show? Could be, the truth, it becomes you I'm a seed wondering why i'm grown." -- Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Education

I was a big OS/2 Warp fan. It ran dos applications great. It ran Windows applications, and often faster than Windows ran the same applications. It also ran OS/2 applications. I ran a BBS on OS/2 in the day. It handled multitasking and the multiple-nodes rather well. People would also drop-carrier in the middle of something. Even Unix, for all it's stability, throws a fit when a job is left hanging because someone loses connectivity. OS/2 eliminated a lot of crashes. It had great multitasking in comparison to Windows horrid time-slicing routines. It was fast, stable and flexible. Those are the three traits most operating systems should strive for. I still contend that most OSes today cater to different uses. OS/2 and Windows fought for the same niche. OS/2 went the way of beta-max.

D was one of the most beautiful women I've ever laid eyes on. Even in SoCal, the land of beautiful women, she was the one everyone stared at. She was rich, intelligent, funny, and crazy about me. She was also a great roleplayer, and a gamer-geek chick. What was not to love? She also once attacked me with a corkscrew because she wanted to know what it would look like "in" me. She was convinced she had this stalker who called her anytime I left the house to go to work. She was scared to death. She showed me notes (not in her handwriting) threatening her. I called the police and the phone company. There were no phone calls. Said stalker supposedly followed her around the state and the country for nearly 10 years. D once drove her car into a wall to see what it would be like. She was also 100% dependent on me emotionally. She isolated herself from her family which meant the world to her. She transferred schools, and focused her entire life on me. I was very fortunate to have such a wonderful woman crazy about me, but it took on an unhealthy level. I loved her, and under certain circumstances would have gladly married her. She wasn't healthy, and the relationship wasn't healthy. I told her that I couldn't marry her until a few things changed. She moved out, and never spoke to me again.

I know MCA can be devious. I'm crossing my fingers. -
Hades, are you sure about that?

Mission is so adamant in dialogue about being self-reliant. She has to defend herself from the image of being a helpless little girl. Making her a Jedi makes all the dialogue pretty silly. Do you have a method to extract and change dialogue? What about scripted events in the game? I know you're planning on doing new planets and by chucking old ones you remove alot of scripted events. What about being captured after you visit so many worlds? There are a lot of scripts in the game that deal with the normal plot. When you twist things in the game you have to consider whether you have the means to change said plot.

New Light Saber Colours?
EnderAndrew replied to Naver Drol This's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This is a decent idea. I wouldn't mind seeing this. The LS is often seen as being boring. It would be a strong symbol of power with it's blinding light. I wouldn't mind seeing this either. I think the blade should have an eerie pulse however. Star Wars is about choosing sides. If you really want to be neutral, go right ahead. However, I don't think they should get special crystals. I hope this is a joke. -
Look. If she had the smallest amount of potential that went untrained, I could buy it. But if you throw a lightsaber in her hands and call her a Jedi, your mod won't be taken seriously by a whole lot of people.

Here's my advice. A mod needs to have a plan. You need to know what you're capable of, and what you are going to do. Your mod is in the pre-planning stages. Regardless of any work done to this point, you still don't know your capabilities of what can be changed, and what you will change. I've heard a lot about focusing on changing the combat engine. Yet, you're not sure this is feasible. Frankly, I like to be supportive, but I doubt it's feasible. Since you don't have a real gameplan, you're still in the pre-planning stage. Don't promise or promote features until you pass the planning stage. Your mod will receive far less criticism, and more support. Go back. Take an evaluation at what you can accomplish with tools "in-hand". Then prioritize and departmentalize tasks. What are you going to change? What projects go where? Break down how many man-hours each project might take. If you don't have a way to estimate, then gauge from the first week or work. (I need X new textures. It took me Y hours to do textures this week) Then be firm with your team. How many hours can you realisticly commit each week? Set goals (not deadlines since these are volunteers). Then when you have an idea of what each department's workload is like, you will have an idea of what departments need more help. Communication is important. Go get a webpage with your own forums. Keep in touch. Make sure everyone knows the plan of attack, and what their responsibilities/role is. Have a lead for each department. Make sure each department communicates internally. If a lead disappears for a lengthy period of time, get a new lead. Make sure someone is in place to step in for you if you disappear and delegate authority. These pieces of advice will greatly increase any change of finishing and releasing a major mod. If you don't think you can do these things, then I'd reconsider the major overhaul.

"Our focus is more content driven then technology

Fair enough. My cousin just took a stack of GC titles into a small store and got reamed. I see it like any other market. Compare trade-in value to retail value. Selling via eBay or to a friend is more likely to net you a value closer to retail than trade-in. (By retail, I mean a retail transaction on a similiar condition used title). For example. Let's take an average used game that might cost $20 in the store. In order to turn a profit, a store may give you $7 for said title. Selling the game on eBay or to a friend will net you closer to $20. -
Questions the the Devs - Take 2

With flat-screens and LCD's becoming common, we start seeing this. I just read about new "wearable" displays that will be flexible. There is also a technology already on the streets for displays that go right over your eyes. They tranpose laser-images over your normal vision so that a doctor could see a diagram on anatomy while performing surgery and such. Monitor flipping may be very feasible in the near future. -
I have a feeling win-or-lose in these finals, that it's time for Phil to move on. Critics knock on the fact that he's always had great players. I'm curious to see if Phil can build a program.

I don't see any smileys signifying a sarcastic or facetious tone. Perhaps my comments did actually wound you. I'm not trying to single you out specifically. I just happen to respond to comments on a case-by-case basis as I see them. In retrospect, I haven't seen you spam in other threads. Perhaps that's not your M.O. I just get frustated by the amount of single or two-word posts on the forum.

You can run unix programs across a network, but unix doesn't have any web-applications I've seen that run client-side. Unix and Windows are so night and day different. I use Unix all day at work on our RS/6000 servers. I use Windows at home. I used to dual-boot Linux/Windows, but what's the point? I can't run most of my games in Linux. Gimp is a horrible graphics program. I use both Photoshop and PaintShop Pro all the time. Different operating systems have their uses. If I throw my BBS back online, it will likely be a Linux box. I don't really forsee myself using Linux for anything anytime soon. The SW MUD I'm programming will be run on a Unix server, but more than likely a paid server and not my bandwidth. I don't consider one operating system to be better or worse than others. (Not since the death of OS/2 Warp) I just use whichever operating system is appropriate for each instance. For instance, I have Win2k machines, and WinXP machines. I even vary between Windows operating systems.

I'm taking the "Darque"-stance. I'm not a spammer. I'm a conversationalist. My posts don't consist of two words, or a single smiley. I've seen plenty of those. I've seen people put up 30 quick posts without saying a single thing. I post more than anyone here, however I try to have content in my posts.

Some people are suggesting that Phil Jackson could coach there next season. That's a plus.

Sell them to a friend. Gaming stores don't really pay much for trade-ins. Ebay is decent, but you need a credit card. You can always PM me the list. I may buy a few off you.
