  1. Geeks are taking over the world, didn't you know?
  2. You say that KOTOR was better in almost every way. How so? KOTOR:2 has more replay value. KOTOR:2 has prestige classes. KOTOR:2 has better NPCs. They all have a special talent. In KOTOR:1, only the Jedi were worth anything in your party. And two of the characters basically had no personality or story in KOTOR:1 whatsoever. Gameplay is better. Graphics are better. There are boatloads of new features. The story is better. So, how is KOTOR better?
  3. Hades, There are plenty of non-Jedi Star Wars games. But the Knights of the Old Republic setting is all about the Jedi/Sith conflict. Thusly a game in that setting should be as well.
  4. I would have liked to have downloaded a new planet. I'm not sure why the decision was made to forgo Live content.
  5. I haven't played more than 10 hours, but I'm watching PrincessSarah play, and she had a really awesome moment in game last night. I can't say I've ever seen a moment like it in a video game before.
  6. Yep. You should read up on those Sith Lords he made up. He's a sad, sad panda.
  7. Pretty neat. I do hope they get KOTOR:3.
  8. The story in this game is so good that I'm not minding the bugs. Are people taking the time to really get to know the characters in the game? If all you're looking for is combat, then this game probably isn't for you.
  9. I don't think anyone but Chris Avellone could do it.
  10. Lionheart was a bad game. Saying that "getting away" from D&D equals failure is silly. There are tons of D&D titles that fail despite the license. Anyone see how D&D Heroes sold? What about Demon Stone? Plenty of great RPGs have sold well that have had nothing to do with D&D. You can get away from D&D and have a successful game. Lionheart failed because no one advertised the game, and the game wasn't fun to play. The built-it fanbase who enjoyed the Black Isle games were immediately turned off at the idea of butchering SPECIAL and jumping to real time combat.
  11. Spiderman 1 also seriously rewrote comic book history. The bridge with the Green Goblin and MJ... SpiderMan's first love was supposed to die in a similiar manner, but she's not even in the picture. But in 3 two-hour movies, you can only have so much history. Sam Raimi said he's not gauranteeing that Harry will follow in his father's footsteps. He's also not sure which villian to use for Spiderman 3. He said it will largely depend on what journey Peter/Spiderman is to go through. Sony has also demanded that Sam wrap "everything" up in the next one. Silly Sony.
  12. I'm a real big fan of Tanzanite. I first discovered it years ago, and I had a real pain trying to find any, even in the jewerly district in LA. Why treat a woman the way that everyone else in the universe does? Why say that she is like every other women in the world? I try to be unique.
  13. Okay, color me stupid. I work with computers for a living, and have worked with PCs most of my life. But I've never had surround speakers on my computer. I have a SPDIF output on my PC. Several times I've been shopping for some 5.1 speakers for my PC. Every single time I ask a salesmen how they hook up, they have no answer. I've looked at the back of said speakers, and none of them have SPDIF inputs. I'm at a loss here, and losing geek points. Someone help me.
  14. It was Tim Cain's idea for Troika's second project to be a "classic" early D&D dungeon crawl. Too bad those early dungeon crawls lacked plot, NPCs, characterization, etc.
  15. Thanks, I appreciate that!
  16. Not quite the same Tim Cain.
  17. What was Tim Cain thinking?
  18. Has anyone noticed that Troika doesn't have a message board?
  19. I'm only 10 hours in. Now I'm waiting for PrincessSarah to beat the game before I finish. So I can't really fully compare the two. So far I think the dialogue and characters are much better in KOTOR:2.
  20. I lurk there because I'm active on too many forums.
  21. KOTOR:1 was pretty good. I thought the game was worth playing. Was it a truly great RPG? I haven't seen one of those since Ultima VII/Torment, etc.
  22. Yep. We sat here and demanded features. The Obsidian crew put out a pretty good game, and people do nothing but bitch. People hear have been screaming that no one makes RPGs any more. Perhaps it has something to do with the fanbase. They're next to impossible to please, and there is less money to be made. Obsidian would be better off making a Halo killer from a financial standpoint. I'm glad they're trying to make quality RPGs when very few people seem willing to even try anymore. I'd rather not play games like FO:BOS and the like. If we didn't have Obsidian, we'd be left with Troika and Bioware. And while they're decent companies, neither of them put out truly great games either.
  23. I think Troika got an early build of Source. I also think Troika doesn't have the same programming talent that Valve does.
  24. I never see you post on these forums. You should come around more often. Most of the time, you're the voice of reason over at The Fall's forums.
  25. Apparently, a lot of people really wanted to enable cross-dress mode.
