  1. Care to elaborate on the disciple scenes for those of us not playing as female please?
  2. Is force crush tied to a prestige class? I went sith lord and have this crush opposition thing which even kinrath save against.......
  3. The game is very buggy, and there was potential for so much more with some more time, but as skeptical as I was about all of the "blame LA, not Obsidian" stuff, which was a load of hogwash for some of the previous titles, (JA anyone?), this one really shows that it's true. What is good in this game is so good that I really have to trust that if Obsidian gets better deals from publishers, we'll see some truly excellent stuff coming from them. I'm frustrated as hell with some of the bugs, and a little sad that there's missed potential, but I'm still really glad I got the game and now actually excited for NWN2, despite the fact that the stories in the previous ones weren't so hot. In K2, the planets felt a lot less generic in terms of quests and things, and so I think that they'll probably continue to make much more engrossing stuff than Bioware, which seems to just crank out hub-and-spokes style dungeon-crawls, at least judging from NWN and KotOR (to a lesser extent).
  4. At first I thought it was just me, or that they have a smaller profile maybe, but I'm having the damndest time with some of those swoop boost pads. Sometimes I'll go right down the middle and they just won't activate. Anyone else have this problem?
  5. So you can make them into evil jedi too, right? DS is my next playthrough.
  6. I couldn't convert anyone. She said maybe she'd let me show her the force or something, and then nothing. Same thing with handmaiden. Atton I could never get to tell me about leaving the sith, and Bao Dur said nothing. I had lightside mastery almost from the beginning....
  7. Oh, I completely agree about the bugs being the top priority, and it took me a while to get it working on my computer, even after downgrading the drivers to the 4.11's, but this is the spoiler part of the forum, so you should expect story stuff here, and most of the people who did make it through are probably lucky enough to get it working somewhat reliably and thus are mostly now concerned with the story. (Oh, and the main bit of the game was so good I'm glad I got it, just a lot of weird stuff and wtf moments in the end, I'd like to see a resolved, if possible.)
  8. Really? I had gathered from the first game, and this one, that Revan was at Malachor V and whatever that weapon was, it was only part of the story....
  9. Wow, mine really sucked............. I just played through, sometimes swapping a couple parts, and it was something like 9-30 (single saber, and the game was still easy on hard)
  10. Eh, first time through, (played on hard), I didn't try to create an uber-character, just played and didn't pay too much attention, with the exception of actually installing upgrades I found, and I still found it easy, although with a single saber, Nihilus and a couple others actually did manage to hurt me a good bit, though I still killed them quicker. Judging from the obscene damage I did as a guardian/weaponmaster dual-wielding would take all tension out of the game, or actually plotting out the best way to advance the character..... At least with this class even a lot of normal enemies made saves against my stasis field and such. Only my buffing powers ended up being useful.
  11. A lot of the bugs, and the combat balance, and such, are Obsidian's fault, I know, and it was stupid to be as ambitious as they were, but the quality of the story pre-ending and such testifies not to so much to laziness, as a rush job, and so I feel fairly comfortable that IF they get a decent contract or somehow or another get the time and resources, (a big if, I know), their future games will likely be pretty damn good.
  12. Well, in all fairness, even saving levels as a scoundrel, deadeye took one, maybe 2 hits.....
  13. When I heard about the ending problems and cut material, I'd thought it was a myth lke the magic Homeworld 2 DustWars which was just a conspiracy theory with no basis in fact. After playing through once, I have to say, I'm inclined to agree that this is almost all LA's fault. In fairness, OE was way to ambitious and may have been fairly dumb in not matching the game to the timetable, but the quality of everything before the end, despite unfinished artwork and buggyware engine, is good enough that I'm forced to believe that if they had the time they would have made it good, and I hope that Atari gives them the time they need for NWN2. I'm really disappointed and annoyed, but until I got all the jedi together, it was the most engrossing rpg I've played. The planets really felt less generic than the first KotOR, and although everything was too coincidental for my liking, a lot of dialog makes it seem they wanted to wrap up a lot of that and didn't get to. Sadly, I think because there's also the xbox version floating around out there, they can't add a patch to fix the holes in the dialog. Having 2 versions would make people even more mad than they are now.....
  14. Happened to me a few times, mostly in level transitions. I had to replay most of the Dantooine ruins because of it. Usually just reloading worked though....
  15. There were little things, but until they jedi reunion the content was so good it was easy to ignore, but the whole MSG intro scene really made me want to find out what was up with him. I'd thought he looked just stupid before I got the game, but it made me interested despite that, and then it came to nothing...........
  16. Cliffhanger? Doesn't that need a cliff and maybe someone hanging off of it???? I played light side, and it was great, (crazy bugs aside), until Nihilus. Oh, and when I returned to Dantoine Academy 15 minutes later to find it all rebuilt, that was a definite what the hell moment, but at least not as bad as all the others that followed. No one even said Nihilus up until that point and then suddenly, "Let's kill Nihilus!". Same thing with the Ravager. Oh, we have the embattled guard from both Onderon and Dantooine suddenly on Telos? Thats nice. Mandalore leaves for about 3 minutes and comes back from Dxun with a squad of soldiers? That's nice too..... What happened to Atris???? I spared her, but unless it was a bug, we don't even know if she's killed by the holocron thingies, what that hissing they're donig is, ANYTHING! They completely wasted Nihilus. I mean, there was no point. None at all..... He's this massively powerful world-devouring entity. He attacks with fighter ships..... He makes a gurgling noise at me. I kill him. That really doesn't do a lot for me. Why were those sith there at Malachor in the original battle? What even happened there? What's that connection? Why was Mira just standing around in the middle of nowhere, and why was the wookie sent after her for no real reason by Kreia? How did the Ebon Hawk have gaping holes in it, fall into a chasm, and then suddenly pop up good as new???? Answering these things would not take away a cliffhanger ending. A HL2 type ending would have been fine. They should just make complete what they do tell us.......... Oh, and were there any references earlier than the end to the true sith? Is there some mystery empire in the same galaxy that no one ever runs into somehow? It looks like the Republic covers most of the galaxy. That doesn't make any sense really...... I'd thought that Nihilus was going to be a "true" sith, but apparently not. He's just there to make gurgling noises.......... Gah..............
  17. The lenses you can make are lens upgrades.. What Bao Dur apparently means is a lens fixture. I got one as a reward for some quest on nar shadaa, but don't remember which. It's not a bug, it's more just rushed game not bothering to explain anything..............
  18. I'm on my first planet after Telos, and Visas joined my party. I'm completely light-side and gained influence with her, and so although she's a sith she's very light-side. Is it supposed to be like that?
  19. It needs a new engine, but not so much for graphics as for just working.... I mean, somehow, the graphics code got even worse. Frame buffer effects turn my computer into a strobe-light now. Always worked fine in the original. Really, a lot of the graphics problems could be solved just with more tlc for the textures and models. There are a lot of surfaces that don't even have textures, just some surface effect to mask it. The graphics engine itself, if they'd had more time, could have made it look a lot better than it does.
  20. Ok, I never had a problem like this with Kotor, but I install the second one, and once I get into the game engine itself it's like every other frame is just black, and my character jumps all around, and things are fairly nutty. I'm on the 4.11's right now, using a 9600 Pro. It's fine at 800x600 but anything higher than that has this problem, and it's rather bizarrely choppy even at working resolutions. Thanks!
  21. Feedback to LA? LOL If protest marches around the building don't do anything, what do you think "feedback" will? really now.........
  22. With the ending / better story line that evil dev didn't support thing, I would refer you to Homeworld 2, which has what seems like the skeleton of a very good story, but holes big enough to fly a large fleet, (i don't know, make your own pithy statement), through. There was much the same sort of controversy about that, with a previous version, titled "Dust Wars" that was scrapped, some concept art, and the general concensus that if only they hadn't been pushed they could have done that and it would have been wonderful. A year or two after release, maybe when a contract expired, I don't know, a dev posted on the relic forums I think that actually the bits of dialog they found in files was *ALL* that they had on the story line and various implementation problems plagued it, they couldn't make it work with their path-finding, and it was just a mess, and they started over *SUA SPONTE*. Perhaps it was just Lucas Arts rushing things. That certainly is plausible. Even if that had a hand in it though, you should think about this and not just blame any or every thing on LA. Only the devs and LA knows right now, but until we do, no one can be held any more or less accountable. (Yes, I haven't gotten it yet, so don't know how bad the ending is. Maybe tomorrow, I hope)
