  1. Does anyone know about Yoda's species? He's the only one in the movies, and it's fairly safe to assume that the games' Vandar, Gorc, and Pic, are just copies, but is there anything actually set?
  2. Yeah, a lot of logic derives from grammar. Parmenides went into a whole lot of stuff about what exists and what doesn't exist, but it all relied on the grammar of the word "to be". Unfortunately, I don't know enough about formal logic to know just how abstract and general it gets, but it will always have some axia, like math, which cannot be proven and simply must be assumed.
  3. The first one isn't sufficiently qualified to be a paradox. They could be teaching different things, teacher and student are contrary, not contradictory, and thus can be combined in one person. This statement is false is a paradox, because if it is false, it is also contradictory, because that means it is true, yet the statement claims to be false. No is the answer to this question is the same sort of thing as that. I always lie is also like this. The army thing defines power as having and then says that you must be powerful to have an army. I think it's not technically a paradox because it only problematizes *becoming* powerful and *getting* an army.
  4. Do they fix the open area Dantooine slowdown?
  5. But with the original star wars movies, we remember them as being much better than they are because we saw them when young, and think of them with nostalgia. I rewatched them recently and was suprised by just how bad the dialogue was. Not as bad as the prequels, and with some better actors, but still...... (Yeah, and the new versions aren't so great, particularly the anakin brat at the end. ugh)
  6. In most cases you would be right, but star wars is too visual. I mean the movies are fun, but art direction is the only thing they really have going for them. I think KotOR looks fine, though some varied textures, especially on Citadel station, and the Telos academy would help. What he's talking about, however, is not the graphics quality, but the relationship of the quality to the performance, which is not so good. Incidentally, Far Cry is actually a pretty good shooter. The story sucks, but the action is actually the best at the moment, with the really good AI and damage modeling. For example, the helmets that some enemies have, are not just for show.
  7. Just pure uninformed speculation, but a lot of the areas that had the worst slowdowns, for me at least, in KotOR 1, had lots of colored lights, and that seems to be the case with at least some of the slow environs in TSL. Since colored lighting was a big bullet-point for Mysteries of the Sith, and there have been reports of various lightsaber glow anomalies with various drivers, I'm guessing it has something to do with the way light is diffused, and multiple colored lights are more indicative of simply the number of light sources, and maybe a particular filter. Like I said, though, I don't really know much about this stuff.
  8. I'm sorry to post this in the general discussion, but it seems to have more devs, and I just wanted to ask if the patch will resolve things so that we can use the latest ATI drivers instead of the old 4.11's, or if that's purely on ATI's end, and if that is the case, if they've been in contact with ATI and have any idea when they'll fix it. Thanks
  9. Hey Jaguar, don't send me $20..... (worth a try at least)
  10. Do you mean low fps or the flashing thing that happens when you enter the ebon hawk happens there also? I noticed that Goto's yacht, where there were lots of that type of droid, had a very low framerate, at times almost as bad as Peragus.
  11. Oh god, not this again.........
  12. It's kinda weird that the item descriptions don't tell you that, because I thought there would be a problem with armor but couldn't find any first play through. Did someone just figure that out, or did it say it somewhere I missed?
  13. It needs a new engine, because with a new engine, they will also revamp and streamline the rule-set, which if they add any more to, will become quite unwieldy. It also needs a new engine because, let's face it, it's not the most compatible and stable thing ever devised. It should get a new engine, just because right or wrong, KotOR 2 was criticized for a lack of graphical improvements, and so it'll make it more marketable. Personally, I just wish they'd had enough time to vary the textures a little more, but that's me.
  14. Nah, don't bother having things with ion upgrades after peragus, since destroy droid or lightning, which somebody should have, is almost all you ever need. On Goto's yacht, 2 with such abilities makes it easier, but you're much better off not taking the time to close the distance.
  15. Yep, by far the best, though not my favorite, character. I wish there were less rude ways of telling her off for manipulation though... I really like where she yells at T3, something like "Would you stop it? We're trying to have a conversation here...."
  16. I would refer you to Something Awful today, and "How to win an argument on the internet". Then I would ask that we kindly move on.
  17. gunboat diplomacy? Lighten up. We're on an internet forum, about a game...... We can justifiably get a little more worked up about the thing we're actually purchasing, but this is a free, partly promotional service, these message boards....
  18. Make more games; don't listen to them! Personally I think you guys do deserve recognition, for in spite of everything I still had a lot more fun with TSL than the original, which was one of my favorite games.
  19. Nothing beats the random name for my ds playthrough of the original: Jerc Organ Of course, he was a jerk.
  20. Maybe the mass shadow generator or whatever was housed in it, so the academy, which seems at least partly subterainian, was the point around which everything else crumpled. Yes, I know, it should theoretically crumple around a point, but maybe the thingy had some sort of way to create a safe zone to operate the thing. I don't know...
