  1. Well my first time through I never bothered with force wave, not knowing it was so powerful, so that made things a bit more interesting, at least at the infinite-respawn section. Beating Bendak though is just getting the right timing with grenades and shields. Don't have to do anything else
  2. Guess I did fly off the handle a bit, sorry
  3. Unless there are some serious QA improvements ot the PC version this is definitely going to be a bargain bin game for me, if that.
  4. Yeah, there have been a lot of spoilers, but that's a different issue, and you don't solve that by moving everything to the tech support forum. That's a censorship move, which is differet. Obsidian owns these boards and has every right to censor, but if they are going to do so, we should be told we'll need to take loyalty oaths ala GOP conventions
  5. Yeah, but consular kinda sucked without it, esp. light side
  6. Well, if you were saving levels after 2 for jedi then Bendak could be kinda hard, unless you saved your plasma grenades
  7. A lot of threads are being moved to the tech support forum that aren't actually requests for tech support but discussions of the actually quality of the game, which seems to fit "General Discussion" pretty well. Is this the no non-happy threads allowed part of the forum or something?
  8. How does it feel to be embarking on puberty and middleschool? You'll be happy to know that when your voice changes you'll be able to do a much better Darth Vader impression.....
  9. I think Lucas did, just look at the ending As for the descriptions of what happens, with the influence, I won't be able to tell until I see it, and neither side is completely convincing.
  10. Jad'en: were you saying ok because you agreed with me? You never did answer me as to why your self-worth is so dependant on this game's perceived quality.
  11. Are they mostly the same areas just retextured, or is there much new geometry and stuff? I really hated the outdoor Dantooine area. Took so long to get around what was essentially a giant circle......
  12. Eh, I'm not sure those major plot-point scripted binary choices for characters are the same as influence. They're good, but they're fairly sudden. Not quite the same thing. I don't know about the KotOR2 influence yet so can't really say either way. Some peoples' stories make it sound horribly buggy, some peoples' make it sound just like a good first step.
  13. Jad'en, why is this game so inextricably bound up with your sense of worth?
  14. The point of the a *game* is to have you participate in the story, and if the participation becomes too boring, then good story or not, the thing will fall flat. For something like Myst, (blech), it was in the puzzles. For an RPG it's in the combat and the role-playing. If the role-playing's good, that's good. If the combat isn't, that's pretty bad because it's the most time-consuming part of it, unless you count the running around to find people to fight. It needs to have all these things. You say it's about the story and this and that, but it's so defensive though, like it doesn't need to or shouldn't work on a technical level or provide some scalable degree of challenge I really have to wonder if you're all just exaggerating and making stuff up because we're not talking about the story in yet another suck-up or self-justification, (of what, who knows.....), attempt. You might as well wax poetic about a car's shiny new tires all day, completely ignoring the fact that the steering-wheel's broken and only turns one way.
  15. The idea of "extra" is kinda silly, since you could just take something out and then throw it in later like a little gift. Having the game supported and actually work, however, is very very different.
  16. Maybe these bugs are a blessing considering how easy people seem to find the game. Most of these bugs hold back the already uber-powerful player. I mean, if it were all actually working who knows how easy it'd be. Personally, I'm already expecting the thing to be more along the lines of an interactive movie than a game, sorta like a choose your own adventure thing, if it's anything like significantly easier than KotOR 1. It's not exactly fair to make a basketball game or something close by bashing a leading team player's knees in, but it does work.
  17. What exactly is a constructive comment for a game with no possibility of patching or refund? What can a gypped x-boxer do but blow off steam at this point? Oh, and before some feral 11 year olds attack me and try to chew though my various tendons and ligaments, I've not played it yet, being a pc gamer and make no such claim.
  18. Does the xbox allow for you to see the dice-rolls and other numbers under feedback?
  19. Oh come on, I never said I didn't like it! I expect to like it, if it indeed runs. I haven't played it. There are far more people than the likes of skeptical little me who were calling it "game of the year" far before it even came out, and were crying bloody murder when it ONLY got a 9.3 from IGN, etc..... That's ridiculous. Whether you like the story is subjective. I don't know if I'll like it or not, but I think I will. If it plays like kotor with a bit of variety, I'll have fun. I'm skeptical about how well the damn thing's going to work and the decisions that contribute to this apparently buggy as hell xbox release, which I've never claimed to have tried myself, and therefore am concerned about the PC release. There's already plenty of orgasmic gushing all over the boards, even from people who haven't played the game yet. If the game really merits that, then fine. What we've seen on the boards though, does not indicate that. Personally, I think I'll like it, but I don't understand what people hope to get from that kind of sucking up....
  20. You know, with all the, pardon my French, fanbois and fanatics here, he's the sole voice of reason just about as often as he's the crazy guy throwing beer bottles out the window. Actually, I think I would weight that more towards the side of reason, especially lately.
  21. Or we can just educate the 5 people who voted yes until they understand the language and have some hard-won understanding of grammar and the meaning of simple sentences, then dooming them to play MMORPG's for the rest of their short, miserable little lives........
  22. Oh, sorry, I was talking about the Homeworld 2 story.... I mean, it wouldn't have been great, and the whole suddenly we have only these three long-jump capable ships in the galaxy thing still would have completely contradicted the previous games and everything seen in the universe, but with like 5-10 minutes more of expository dialog they could have at least made the story make sense. The holes would not have been that hard to fix. Still, a great game though. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Just make sure you patch before entering mission 12 with a maxed out fleet......
  23. I've not tried WoW, so I guess I can't speak with perfect knowledge, but I've made it a point to try those free trials for a few MMORPG's and found nothing but a very painful level-slog, no fun, and that it'll take something like 10 hours before you can afford some decent gear and stop having to do the basic kill the rat's nest mission.
  24. Man, if only they hadn't been high when they wrote that story......
  25. Oh that would just be dreamy...... Imagine! You step off your ship, slightly boxier than normal to show that you're 4000 years back, and LO AND BEHOLD! There's a mob of people standing there! They are milling about. Or teleporting rapidly over distances of 3-5 meters. You can't really tell! It's like real life! You never know what's happening really, I mean the world's so incomprehensible. Maybe you could run around in the desert for hours and kill giant space-frog-things that come out of weird little holes. You could get paid 50 credits for it! Maybe, if you kill enough space-frogs you can get the 1093737*e^3pi/h credits you need to BUY A DECENT BLASTER!! Maybe, you'd see a real sith! He'd kill you and you'd die and loose all your money. Maybe one would spawn in the middle of the desert and attack you for no good reason screaming about a quest you never started! Maybe you could go to a "mission" area and find nothing there! Maybe..... Maybe you could stand around outside in a flickering gaudy city with a bunch of other screaming 12 year old and think just for a moment, that you're in a 3D starcraft chatroom, because THIS IS THE FUTURE, BUT LONG AGO, AND FAR AWAY, IN THE FUTURE! Oh would that not be grand? Oh, and I don't know how to turn the thread red. Sorry.
