Playing Dragon Age 2, trying to level my character up to a certain level before playing the Legacy DLC.
-
Eh, I disagree. Obsidian put their spin on the franchise, which was more emphasis on story and character, and less on hack & slash and loot. Just look at the complaints from DS1 & 2 fans that the game was changed significantly from the previous two installments, primarily about how there's less emphasis on combat and loot, and more story and deeper characters. So in that respect, it should be compared to games like KOTOR, NWN, Dragon Age, etc. because that's the sort of thing they were going for.

I wonder how you fare with books? Books tend to break things up into various paragraphs, not just one big paragraph that lasts an entire chapter.

Fem-Shep #5 looks the best to me.

I was referring less about the actual DA2 quality of interaction (though I actually enjoyed it), than I was about that kind of thing, where you have the opportunity to talk to, learn about, and even undertake a quest or two for those companions. IMO, they feel a lot more fleshed out the more you get a chance to have dialogue with them. DS3 was good in the way it integrated the companions into dialogue in various scenes, but it fell short, IMO, when it came to actually giving you a chance to get to know them better. I also think the game was screaming for a personal sidequest for each companion. One of my favorite parts of an old Obsidian game was the party interaction in KOTOR II. Learning about those traveling with you, expanding on the lore around them and their backgrounds, ranks up there among my favorite features from that game. That's one area where I think DS3 dropped the ball.

Since the DLC just came out, I'm back to playing Dragon Age 2. It underlined to me how much I enjoy the party interactions (ie. sidequests, backstories, interactions with them, etc.) that were missing in Dungeon Siege III. I can't stress enough how much I want that feature in any future DS titles (or DLCs/expansion packs).

I'm tempted to wait until I finish the main quest before attempting the DLC. Is that possible? Does it make sense, story-wise, if I do? Am I asking too many questions?
-
If you already bought the game, why'd you wait to play it? I understand holding off on purchasing a game to wait for reviews, but if you've already shelled out the money for it anyway, what's the point in not playing it and waiting for reviews?

Any suggestions on when the best time to play the DLC is, in terms of how it fits with the rest of the story?
-
I've downloaded but have yet to play the DLC. I started a new character and just arrived in Kirkwall to find a massive statue in Gamlin's home. I click on it and a box comes up that says something to the effect of "do you want to play Dragon Age Legacy? Yes/No". Is that really how you begin the DLC? No seamless integration of the quest into your journal via a message in your mailbox, but just a click of yes or no after touching the statue?

Got it on my third play through. The quest(s) I missed on my first two play throughs turned out to be the Stonebridge ones you receive after dealing with the Dapper Old Gent. On my first two play throughs, I left right away without seeing that quest. Thanks to those who suggested to look out for that quest.

I wonder how long the DLC is going to be. It better not be another Witch Hunt.

Dungeon Siege III specific: -The length of the DSIII campaign seemed shorter than most RPGs/ARPGs, was that a design decision to keep the flow of the story that you wanted, or was it a development time consideration? -Party interaction. Was there ever plans to expand on it? Most RPGs that allow companions/party members tend to have the ability to talk to those party members, to either learn their backstories or to open up a companion-specific sidequest or both. Was there a reason that kind of thing wasn't available in DS? -Sidequests seemed kind of slim. Again, was it a design decision to keep the story flow a certain way, or was it more time constraints? Obsidian in general: -What new game(s) have you guys got under way, and when will we learn about them?
-
Really? That sounds like an erotic dream, more than anything.

I had a similar issue with the Sebastian Veil (sp) achievements. Supposedly it's been fixed in the latest patch, but I have to re-download the DLC and play through again with the new patch installed for the achievement to unlock, even though I should have already unlocked them all (I believe there's about 4 or 5 total achievements associated with him).

Do you want Alpha Protocol 2?
GhostofAnakin replied to Marburg's Postman's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I don't honestly see that adding anything to the gameplay. Not saying it's a particularly bad idea, just that not every game has to have an open world. And I don't see a game like Alpha Protocol working properly while doing an open-world setup justice. It would either become a parkour-free version of Assassin's Creed (the original) with an open world that you can barely interact with, or can only interact with in fairly meaningless ways, or it would force the open world to become the focus, and destroy the coherency of the story by doing so. I should clarify that I'm not talking about an actual open world, or anything of the sort. Rather, just be able to do a bit of "weapon shopping" in actual shops/stalls around a town, rather than everything revolving around the safe house. You're right, it might compromise a bit of the tightness of the story. But I think a bit of extra freedom so the player doesn't feel as though he's basically shuttling from mission to mission with nowhere interesting to spend their downtime wouldn't hurt. Kind of like the various hubs in basically every game Obsidian (or any RPG developer) always has in its games. -
This. Then again, this is my feelings when it comes to any game, not just DSIII. I realize it's not quite the cash cow as DLC is, but I'd much rather developers spent their extra time (meaning time after the main game is finished) creating an expansion, rather than a handful of 1-hour DLCs.

Prototype Rifle
GhostofAnakin replied to clwinters's question in Dungeon Siege III: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
You sure you're hitting the right crystal cluster? Where the rifle is located, I believe there's also a cluster of crystals right in the corner that can't be broken. The crystal you need to break is to the left of that unbreakable cluster. -
I'm one influence situation away from maxing out Lucas. I'm just beginning the Glitterdelve Mines (did Stonebridge first before going to the Queen), so hopefully there's at least one opportunity for me to influence Lucas so I can get that achievement. On that note, there's an achievement for getting at least one point of influence with all companions. I haven't unlocked this achievement, despite the fact that all my companions had at least one time where I earned their influence. What gives?

what's max lvl for a char?
GhostofAnakin replied to ruserious2008's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I'm actually still trying to reach level 30. My first two play throughs, I fell a level or two short. This time I've tried to grind a bit more, as well, I think I found the quest I missed the first two times that kept me from earning the perfectionist achievement. Hopefully that extra XP will help me reach level 30.
