Wizard suggestion
RevBlue replied to Ouroboros226's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Really the only point I strongly agree with. A lot of the spells currently feel interchangable and lack imagination -
Debuff stackability?
RevBlue replied to MaxDamage's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
pretty sure i remember being mention that nothing stacks, buffs or debuffs, it just uses the absolute higher value for either -
Each New Patch & Hotfix ?
RevBlue replied to Cas1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
existing one. if every patch required a fresh install and restarting your game that would be terrible, no one would release it like that lol -
Each New Patch & Hotfix ?

im assuming you have the gog version? no you just download the latest patch from your library and install it -
I think its really weird there is no actual fear effect in the game, from spells and what no, currently frightened or terrified effects just cause some "meh" penalties. Why didn't the devs make it so people with those effects actually run away with fear, like in the origianl IE games, plus it just makes sense. All in all I actually fell a lot of the spells in this game just feel interchangeable and it just makes it feel like the spell selection is a lot smaller than it is.... :-/

Did I read another patchlist? That seems to mean that the fighter Knock Down ability doesn't affect for the full durations its supposed to, but shorter. Not about prone effect lasting forever

its mentioned exactly once, and its about prone reduction mode, I'm talking about prone status being permament and never wearing off (or is that the same thing and im just clueless?)

"Relaxed some constraints on Durance's quest conversation. This allows all characters, regardless of background or stats, to finish his quest." Wait what? It was impossible for some character builds to finish his quest? 0.o And nothing about the cage curser still breaking on quicksaves, and prone being broken :-/

Yeah, I don't want to min/max. Though I am hesitant to lower any attributes under 10 which will result in a penalty. If I lower Con on my wizard but keep everything above 10 in my other attributes will that be fine? A wizard should be in the back as it is and not get targeted. I just want to make sure I have enough points in other areas to be able to have some dialogue choices. Does Con affect dialogue? I personally don't like to go below 10 so I don't get negative modifiers. My con is on 10 and I was fine. And no Con doesn't affect dialogue choices, only Int, Might, Perception and Resolve

I've seen a few times lately that enemies(sometimes even my own NPCs) that get prone don't have a time limit on it, and just remain prone for the duration of the fight. Anyone else noticed that? EDIT - Actually now that i've checked again, i think its only Call To Slumber spell, it should have a duration of 14 seconds but its permanent. Can anyone else confirm that?

Graphics crash

bump yet again! -
Don't min/max if you care about RP. resolve and even perception could be important. You don't need a "maximally optimal" build to make a viable wizard, or any class really. And the +5 to accuracy from the elf really doesn't amount to that much after the first few levels. Having fun with your character is more important, and another 2 or 3 points in this stat or that won't kill you or keep you alive.

Picked the wrong talent
RevBlue replied to eporterhouse's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
you can use the IE mod to lose that skill and add the one you wanted instead -
I got the acrane blast talent (thats the passive one right?) I'm actually not sure I ever saw it in action lol. Can anyone confirm it actually works?

Lets say for a second that you're right about the whole might thing (even tho I don't agree). Who said that in this universe wizards have to spend 20 years in a dusty room reading to be powerful mages? Why can't spell potency be linked to a persons vigor/strength or whatever? Maybe physical strength in this world comes into play by more than just big muscles and excercise? The official Wiki describes might as "Might represents a character's physical and spiritual strength...." Again, you keep trying to compare this to classic DND stereotypes, don't.

Will people stop comparing this system to DnD? This isn't supposed to be a version of DnD!
