^^ With Ethan Hawke? I kinda liked that one - nice amount of suspenseful buildup vs. just a slasher.

Those of us who don't watch Dr. Who may have no idea who that is/don't recognize her from Adam, so Sackhoff is the most prominent thing. So many people I have no idea they're already famous, these days.

All this talk of gyms and my lack of appetite made me go for a long morning hike. Sunny winter day, refreshing! Now to clean the mud off my hiking boots and go back to being a lazy fart.

Last page of previous thread And the daily "whatcha doing?" goes on! ...do they still drop the "apple" in NYC on NY's Eve? I grew up watching that via the D. Clark specials. I don't really have a bucket list, but if I did, seeing that in person might be one of the things on it. I have a feeling it wouldn't excite me that much, but still...I'd like to see it once.

Past due for a new thread...

Grim Dawn is awesome, last time I played it. Worth the forever wait it's been. I haven't played in a while, since the new class was released I think - Act3 is out now, at least partially? Haven't even noticed. I'll have to check it out. Dang it, I wish I was better at playing multiple games at once. I just can't keep up. Oh well, better for my wallet. Prison Architect has been an early-access I've kept an eye on/been unsure about...for sale price I might consider it. Almost bought Neo-Scavenger, until I realized it was on GoG...

I've been utterly uninterested in food for a while. Well, a bit of jerky, but even that I haven't eaten in my usual record time (still lots of it left after a week). I walk around the grocery store, looking at fresh food and convenience foods, etc and all I think is "meh" and buy nothing. I largely live on yogurt and fruit and the occasional cheap sandwich meat sandwich. I've lost 8 pounds. This is not intentional and I don't really care, since it's not like I need to lose serious weight (I always tend to have that 12-15lb yo-yo surplus since my 30's). But it does show how few calories I'm eating. Hey, its part of my workroom, it is supposed to be dirty! Only a lazy craftsmans workroom is clean. I was thinking more along the lines that it looks like something one might've bought at a CSI:garage sale. Maybe it's the lighting, but there's the one giant, faint-reddish stain....

You know what Xmas generally means to me? It means I spend the whole month going "I can't believe it's Xmas time/another year again." It's not a negative thing, it's just an eternally taken by surprise thing.

Oculus, a horror type movie mostly notable for having that actress from Battlestar Galactica in it. The film has a terribly distracting present/past flip-flopping merge style, but it was kinda amusing to see Katee Sackhoff acting like a rabid zombie dog or something.

Congrats, Calax! ....left turn sidenote: Woldan's dirty gym carpet kinda scares me.

I've only caught bits and pieces of it as hubby chugs through the seasons via Netflix, but I'm not seeing a big appeal re: Chuck. Guess the level of humor + spy shenanigans don't fit my style and the actors don't appeal to me much. It's like an hour long spy sitcom comedy and an hour is 30 minutes too long. The best thing about it seems to be Adam Baldwin. Adam B. is always the bomb.

I just hang up. I don't see the point in trying to engage cold-callers/sale-callers in conversation anymore, they'll just keep trying to keep you on the line. I know they're just doing their job/need to make a living, but unfortunately, I'd just be a waste of their time, so I cut it short. It's for their own benefit, really. ...today was interesting. And I'm so burnt out. Going to snooze hard tonight.

Still 7DtD ... although, as predicted, the constant updating is starting to annoy. Not because of any changes, those are pretty minor most of the time (or are good changes). It's the starting over. I like starting fresh, but when I'm ready, not because of savegame compatibility. Next time I think I won't update immediately. I need to check out The Long Dark again too, they've had several updates I think. See if the wolves are still things that suck the fun out of it too fast. I liked everything about that game, except dying to a wolf every 10-15 minutes. Course, I probably just suck. I find I'm more and more awful at combat related things in games, especially panic-type combat. Eyes and reflexes I suppose. P.S. - I've looked at the Talos Principle. I'm undecided. The last time I loved a "puzzle" game was Myst, with the adventure/mystery about it (I tried Portal, wasn't my thing). Not generally into what's considered puzzle-games now. But it sure looks pretty and sound rather neat.

Well since it's 10 bucks on sale right now, I'll get it for a future looksee. I'm still too way into 7dtD to focus on another builder right at this second, tho.

T2 (and T1) is still my fave, yes. I did like True Lies a fair bit, although that was because I personally found Tom Arnold's chr. really funny for some reason (he's not exactly one of my fave actors normally...). There were plenty of parts of LotR that weren't my favorite things/were pretty silly. But overall I found it more glibly entertaining. The CGI wolf/worf/whatever riding bad guy in Hobbit was just ...no. That scene with the party in the tree made me lol. I did like some of the quieter dwarf scenes, and Martin Freeman I always like. The films just either put me to sleep or made me roll my eyes, mostly.

I would like to frequent a gym where all the male Olympic swimmers workout/practice. And not because I want to use the elliptical or the pool.

I loved LotR trilogy, still occasionally re-watch parts of from my extended DVD's. I tried to like the Hobbit but barely sat through the 1st and turned off the 2nd somewhere half way through when I paid for it on VoD. It probably would help if it was just two films, but eh...maybe not even then. Possibly a case of seen the same already, and much better done. Couldn't feel it at all. ---------------- Last night I watched Sabotage, the Arnuuulllld movie. I'd heard it was terrible, but I figured hey, it's still an Arnuulllld movie, right. I mean, I even had a light enjoyment from that Last Stand one. But it is, indeed, terrible. I almost turned it off twice. Then I think I zoned out for 15 minutes because suddenly it was the end of the film and I couldn't remember how they got there. Arnuuullld did get in one amusing line and he wasn't the problem. Anyway...dull and terrible script. Also, from his imdb page, I see he's set to be Conan again. How's that going to work? Sure he's in decent shape for his age, but it's one thing to lift uzi's and smirk while firing canons, and another to be Conan, the geriatric years?

Installing Kotor 2 on Windows 8.
LadyCrimson replied to Beta 197's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I had the old install disc version running on Win7. I wonder if it would run (spec wise, outside of Win8) on my cheap Win8 laptop. I should try it. That's one thing about Steam and old games/why I don't often buy such on Steam ... I'm not always certain they'll run on newer O/S. Good to know Kotor2 does. -
If it can be played offline, I probably should. I've never really been into build ships and vehicles, per se, for some reason, but building a space station sounds pretty cool. I'll have to watch some vids...

Lots of good stuff here. And yeah, some game soundtracks are awesome for listening to with ... other games. I mostly mean vocals as in the way most popular radio/itunes singles use them. They don't provoke the right state of mind for me I guess. I save those for when I'm not sitting at a desk. Choir vocals or chants or rhythmic vocalizations that aren't in English, heh, or aren't actual words, can be great. I bought/still like that Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo album Chant from years ago. One I often use as an example of what I mean for that+modernish Celtic is Capercaillie's song Bonaparte (it's on YT). I do love Karen's tonal range, whatever she's singing.

^^ Haven't checked the 49er's this year. Thanks for reminding me. Not that into football, but I do like to know where local teams stand in a season, now and then. Thank goodness for FF addon Classic Theme Restorer. Those transparent tabs and unmovable icons etc. were driving me insane. Seems to have fixed some other minor browser/site issues I kept having as well. Goody.

@Woldan - yeah, sounds pretty similar. I still have ups and downs occasionally but unlike when I was a lot younger it's manageable and usually doesn't linger. I think in my case at least, time just tends to mellow things out on its own. Could even be chemicals have shifted around as I age. Dunno. Although, the worst thing for me is still to be mentally idle for too long (staring at the wall, so to speak). Drives me nuts. Speaking of being mentally idle, it's time for me to build more virtual castles now.

I may not like SPN Season 10 as much so far, but Misha Collins and his father are still adorable. It almost puts me in a Xmasy mood. Almost.

There was that mock video about "If Doom was made today" ... I can imagine a similar humor video made about "If The Birds was made today." The suspense/effects don't hold up well today, and it may make one giggle occasionally now, but I still like The Birds. The point of having no explanation is something I like in stories at times. As Stephen King once blathered about re: short stories vs. long novels ... "sometimes things can still happen in a story just because they do." (paraphrasing)
