Weather is warming up enough where I don't need to wear long pants around the house again. *tosses pants aside* "FREEEEEEDOMMMMMMM!!"

NEEDZ BIGGER SCREEN PLZ ...actually you can make the GUI even smaller but then it's unusable as far as font readability is concerned. 700+ citizens again, food production ok, starvation-march-death problem very minimal so far, but I can't seem to get the new house/birth/death rate balance right in this one. Every time I get close to 500 Adults, I have a massive old-age die off over a single year that's a numerical setback. But they keep having more and more kids, so ... eventually it might work, right?

Hehe, made me laugh. Such is the fate of most MMO's. Not that I've played many. For some reason I liked WoW when it first came out and played that (by my lonesome...) for a long time. Tried a few others, didn't like any of them. Like Keyrock I played NW:Online for some months but now don't care. I tend to like the open-world MMO's for exploring and such, but after that ... so far it's felt like once you played one, there isn't any reason to play another. At best, they're fun in that Diablo-like way. And in terms of playing with random strangers on the 'net, I think I had more fun via Diablo2 group monster bashing then any "MMO" I've tried.

I've built a time machine...where do you want to go?

When I read one of the Clan of the Cave Bear sequels, I really wanted a giant male cave lion so I could ride on its back. -
I've built a time machine...where do you want to go?
LadyCrimson replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
Were you intending to put this in WoT, or were you wondering what might make good game settings or something? Time travel ... hm. On the one hand getting to witness some famous war battles would be intellectually interesting, but in reality I probably wouldn't have the stomach for such. It'd be like rubber-necking. I'll stick to history books. So in that case ... --the last ice age --Woodstock ...I know there's more but I can never think of them offhand. -
It's beef jerky time again. Went through some reviews trying to decide if I wanted to try a new brand from somewhere, but ... nah. I'm too much a creature of habit. Maybe I'll get an extra bag for kitty. At least that's my story.

I can like like liver depending on preparation/cooking methods - mother made beef liver/onions a lot - but most of my experience with chicken liver was using it raw for night catfishing. Those catfish sure do love the stuff. One food to catch another food. 'Tis awesome.

Started to watch "Stitch," expecting an action movie with maybe a bit of comedy (Dwayne Johnson...). Turns out it's more of a serious crime-police-drugbust drama. The Rock plays a father willing to go to great lengths to get his son's prison sentence reduced. Not a laugh to be had in the first hour, nor much action. Which would be fine except I wasn't in the mood for that. I think it was getting close to the car chase/shootout section of the film, but I'll finish it tomorrow. That said, it *is* a nice vehicle to show that The Rock can, imo, indeed act a lot better than most film action studs. Or at least, there's something about him that seems so sincere I believe in him more.

Goth mini-game isn't showing prompts
LadyCrimson replied to frostjape777's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't have a solution or anything, but I just had to say that your chr. (or NPC?) there is adorable. Must be the 3D glasses. -
My "best of the 80's" CD's are the awesome for listening to while playing video games and surfing the 'net. ...time to fix dinner soon. Then a round of cat entertainment, because Mr. Black gets desperately lonely (and loud) when I'm too long being busy with friend visits and late night video games. All his ambush attempts to try to catch me in a waist-hug as I run around the house is turning my belly/hip into a scratches roadmap. Need a kevlar suit or something.

After 60+ hours, multiple maps attempts etc., the initial shiny is wearing off but still loving the game. But after a long while, you do start to feel like the game could use a little more ... something ... besides the food vs. population vs. walker-death struggle. Entertainment happiness requirements, for example. Or more user-controlled trader options (land trade? Having to do something - like achieve a town size or happiness or fame level - to open certain trade routes vs just building a trade dock=instant access to all trader RNG options?). Tips and things: ----For orchard farms, I've discovered the size I like best is 13x13. With crop fields size doesn't actually matter much, but with orchards it's the best size for the way the trees grow - certain orchard sizes you'll have an "empty" tile row, which equals wasted space. I make the crop field size the same for layout symmetry. ----Most of the time, 2 workers on even a large a crop/orchard works just fine, no need to waste 4-6 workers on them. Occasionally 3 if distance, or with orchards seems to help with speed of replanting trees that go "bad" over time. ----Beans vs cabbage, corn vs wheat, doesn't matter. This makes buying lots of different seeds from traders rather pointless outside of the farming achievements. And the cost of buying the seeds is the only financial challenge. Which brings up that the trade aspect to the game is really underwhelming, unless you've decided a self-challenge of trading for a lot of stuff instead of producing it yourself. But trader mechanic isn't interesting. ----I don't see much walker-speed difference between the plain dirt road and the resource-cost stone road. Maybe it's bugged. Sometimes they seem to start to speed up a little but then go back to dirt-road speed...anyway, seems inconsistent. Waste of stone seems to me. ----if you mark a graveyard for demolishing and then quickly "reclaim" it to cancel the demolish order, it'll read as being empty and you don't have to build a new one (the headstones will remain). Most likely a bug, but I'm taking advantage of it since it's mad-silly how many graveyards you need (and the space) before you've even reached 400 population.... ----Same concept - you can "demolish" full barns, wait for workers to empty it of the food, then "reclaim" the barn before it's actually torn down, to try to move food to different areas. Stocking distant trade docks and then releasing the food again, same thing. --Hunter buildings don't need to be in dense forest land to produce 800+ venison a year. If there were deer around when you placed it, even after you chop everything down and build houses around the Hunter hut, it'll still produce food/leather. There are still "ideal" spots for Hunter's huts, but if you're tight on space (small maps), they're cool that way. --I've gotten over my dislike of orchards because of Small/Mountainous maps, were there's barely land to support much Gathering...starting to find orchards more useful as the "fruit" category producer in terms of land use management, despite their occasional PITA aspects.

The Hoff? I require a screenshot. ...still playing Banished. After several attempts looking for map seeds I find fun to play, I went back to the one I liked most and decided to try to build a higher pop town (with plenty of food this time) on it again. Bit different layout strategies, making sure I'm producing extra per year before building new hosues etc. ... going smoother so far at 300 pop.

So where will spoilers go?
LadyCrimson replied to Ieo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There is? Well learn something new every day. All these forum software upgrades the past few years, bah. ...although as Hassat says, after hunting around for this menu (having to wait a couple seconds for the floating button help-text to "pop up" on each menu item), I understand why I missed it. What an unintuitive and awkward way to just use a simple code. I'd rather type it manually. Plus I also often have BBCode mode off for the quoting. Heh. -
TWD - I much preferred Daryl with shorter hair vs. his current not quite a mullet-look mop top. Also Two more episodes and then hopefully we'll find out what Terminus is about in the last one. I've mostly liked the chr-driven episodes, but needing a more focused storyline soon. I will say it was refreshing to not have any Rick/Carl for 2 episodes. I have yet to seriously warm up to Carl.

Please note: if you have a specific question regarding advice/input about a quest or some other story/gameplay feature, that is not a technical issue, please post your topic in the South Park: Stories subforum and not in General Discussion. When posting in General, if you're unsure if something is considered a spoiler, please take advantage of the spoiler tag function. There is no post-editor button icon for spoiler-tags, so manually type the BBCode before and after any text you want hidden. Example: [ spoiler ] This text hidden by the spoiler tag. [ /spoiler ] (no spaces) Thanks, and enjoy the game! Edit: I'm told/learned that there is now a drop-down menu where the Spoiler tag can be chosen from a list. (3rd button from top left). I still find it easier/faster to type it manually, however. Up to you!

So where will spoilers go?
LadyCrimson replied to Ieo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yea...probably new subfora will be added, or one/more of the current will be reconfigured to fit the usual pattern of sub-fora for released games. BBCode spoiler tags do exist and do work on the forum, there is just no WYSYWIG button icon for them. [ spoiler] [ /spoiler ] (no spaces). -
Doesn't hurt to have it, tho, at least in certain situations.

The Case for Romance II
LadyCrimson replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well ... I don't view this incarnation of this topic as going in a direction that may be any more inviting or favorable towards potential new members, or spawning much productive on-topic discussion, than the last ones. Like Gfted1, I don't really understand the notion some here seem to have that because one may not want to discuss/listen to something, it means no one can. The amount of time/energy some of you devote to disparaging/trolling this topic is time I'd personally rather spend on other things. That said, and with apologies to BruceVC I think we've reached that point whereby at least a short breather could currently be of use, until the next cycle emerges, whether it's about PoE, another Obsidian project, or generally in the C&C forum. -
The entire review is tongue in cheek. It's a comedic device where praise is actually concealed as a scathing condemnation. Insert dry chuckle here. All I know is when I saw the 300 sequel advertised on TV the other day, I went ".... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy." Ok, I know why...money. But you know what I mean.

Twas a nice day...blew off chores and went out. Had fun. Came home to the spouse. Had more fun. Could do some responsible things before I try to sleep, but I think I'll play a bit of Banished instead, for some more ... fun. Because fun is just a lot better than non-fun.

Pine-Kirk feels in keeping with the Abrams Trek universe, to me. Loud, brash, brawn before brain, action before thought. Fits. Shatner's Kirk was like that too, only to a bit lesser of a degree. And Shatner's Kirk was less of a risk-taker when it came to the welfare of his ship/s. Usually. Course, in the end, all Trek Captain's seem to end up with wrecked Enterprises at least once every couple movies ....

It's always interesting how differently people familiar with the original Trek feel about the "new" Trek characters. I actually do like Karl Urban, from other roles ... but for some reason I just haven't taken to his version of McCoy at all. It's not that I dislike his McCoy - just doesn't feel like McCoy, even when saying the signature lines. I almost feel like he's trying too hard to be like DeForest Kelly, perhaps. I didn't like Pine as Kirk that much at first, but during the 2nd movie there a few moments on the bridge where I suddenly went "there! he nailed it!" and he became Kirk, even as he wasn't Kirk. So now I rather like Pine in the role. Benedict - it's just the voice. And Sherlock. Did I mention that voice...

The song is lovely and very much in tune with some of the music I listen to. But holy uncanny valley, batman! ... watching the animation of the chr. "singing" while listening to it at the same time is ... no, doesn't work for me at all.

Last thread Last few posts from last thread: Did Tammy create Princess Daphne? Does she own the rights to her? Does anyone know how artist's rights work in regards to fanart? Can artists re-draw another persons IP and then sell it/license it? I ask, not because I think it's cool that Anita used the art without permission... I'm just wondering if the artist has a leg to stand on. -------------------------------------------- Thank you for being honest. I hope now you can see my point. My countries laws are basically the same as yours. We allow free speech but not if it is considered offensive or hurtful or insulting to a person. I'm not sure how you want to define examples in the UK where people have been prosecuted with using certain words on Twitter but the reality is the UK is a Democracy that believes in free speech. This is the point I have been trying to make for ages, there is no contradiction when saying " I live in a society where we believe in free speech but certain words and descriptions of people aren't acceptable for public use" I assume that when you say "offensive or hurtful or insulting" you mean "on the level of hate crime relating to creed, color, sexual orientation, or personal disability" because otherwise that's just deeply ****ed up. Anyway, that proves my point, right? Free speech has nothing whatsoever to do with the wretched faux social justice journalism of RPS. -------------------------------------------- Did Tammy create Princess Daphne? Does she own the rights to her? Does anyone know how artist's rights work in regards to fanart? Can artists re-draw another persons IP and then sell it/license it? I ask, not because I think it's cool that Anita used the art without permission... I'm just wondering if the artist has a leg to stand on. I have no idea how the legal implications work out, but it is very bad form to just yank an image off google images and use it for your own marketing material. Sarkeesian should at least recognize the artist. It would seem to contradict feminist ideals to take advantage of this female artist in the name of open source art.
