Hours played not showing on Steam
LadyCrimson replied to Kingsy's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'll ask the super obvious - are you playing in online mode? Steam doesn't record hours played if in offline mode. If that's not it...dunno. :/ -
Not the same thing, but when I tried playing in a window the edge scrolling failed (mouse moves out of game window). Saw a setting re: edge scrolling, maybe that alters it. Haven't tried it yet tho. I am so slow playing games like these...maybe 5 hours in and I just got Aldoth and finished initially running around the G. Vale. But I am going in very "blind." Monk first, who early on seems to keel over in 2 seconds, until you put a little armor on, but then she's not getting any Wounds and I feel like I may as well have made a fighter instead and... But still impressed/liking the game, even if I am slow. I'm liking it more than I thought I would, actually ... that is, I can have concentration/focus issues re:games these days, so I was worried I'd have a hard time "getting into" a rpg like this anymore. But the exploration is fun and I'm enjoying myself a lot. Just taking it super slow....

Saved Games Disappear
LadyCrimson replied to greywolf00's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah...those always suck. I had it happen to me in Dead Island, even after the patch that supposedly fixed it. Every time I exited that game, I lost all progress (chr. was still there, but he was like newly created/back to the intro scene again...). -
Saved Games Disappear
LadyCrimson replied to greywolf00's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't know about the issue itself, but as a workaround, would it maybe work if you saved, then before actually exiting the game, alt-tabbing out and copying the save files elsewhere, so you can copy them back before loading again? Or would/do they disappear upon loading the game as well, not just exiting the game? -
PC: Druid or Cipher?
LadyCrimson replied to Jonatius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not everyone cares about having min/maxed characters. Just saying. Although yes if one cares about that, the companions aren't the best stat-wise I suppose. I like that the story companions aren't "perfect", personally - it makes them seem more like, well, characters. -
How do I drop stuff?
LadyCrimson replied to Night Driver's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"For Sale Cheap - belly button lint from an ogre" ...it does feel a little weird with an infinite stash, but the upside is less time spent playing stash-tetris, more time playing. You can pretend the world has a very very strict no-littering policy... -
so no minimaps?
LadyCrimson replied to apolloooo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Same. I don't mind them in action-rpg's ala Diablo's I guess, where high-speed dashes through maze like maps are rather the norm if you know what I mean, but I've never felt a need for them in this type of RPG. Plus they clutter up the screen/UI with yet another thingie and I'd rather not have that. -
I only did the first few bits of PoE before I had to do a bunch of homebody things. What little I saw I liked, and it ran fine for me. Hoping to get more playtime in late evening/wee hours etc.

Game crash
LadyCrimson replied to Tuth's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Just in case it helps in some small way, I have EVGA Precision v4.2.1 running and have no crashes, after logos or otherwise, so far. -
How do you open the console?
LadyCrimson replied to Oxford_Guy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't think we know if using the console breaks/disables the Steam achievements, btw. Depends how they were implemented? So if those are really important to you, might want to hold off on using console commands. -
Nevermind ... after taking forever to load several pages I see that was discussed already. The forum is soooo slow for me right now, it's very inconvienet. Anyway....I haven't been able to do anything via the Portal, but on my Steam copy I at least have the in-game pets available and everything is in those Steam game folders as previously mentioned, for me.
-
For Steam copies - tried r-clicking on the game name in your game list and choosing View Downloadable Content to check and see what you're supposed to get/if it's installed or not etc? ...although technically I think you can claim them through the backer portal as well (I see them listed there now) but so far every time I've tried that route, the website wigs out on me and I haven't been successful.

Issues with Dialogue
LadyCrimson replied to tehgr8supa's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
What sound device are you using? A sound driver issue maybe? -
9AM PST release
LadyCrimson replied to ElmoHatesMe's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Maybe it wasn't a survey so much as information culled from the backer lists, that Obs posted at some point, or something like that? -
*yawwwwn* Considered staying up but my brain stamina isn't back up to par (repeated migraine "hangover" perhaps), where even if I made it that far I wouldn't be in much shape to play PoE at all. My eyes are puffy and drier than sand and stuff too. So...off to bed. I expect to read all kinds of juicy first-time PoE stories when I check in again tomorrow.

9AM PST release
LadyCrimson replied to ElmoHatesMe's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm not disagreeing with the idea that a lot or even a majority of backers may be located outside the US - in fact I can easily believe that - but if was a forum survey, forum posters doesn't necessarily = all backers? ..also, looks like I'm actually too sleepy tonight for the stay-up option. Decision made for me. I'll probably install the game a few hours later than release time. Which is fine/no biggie. At least I'll be rested vs. bleary from being up all night. -
The Custom Portraits Thread
LadyCrimson replied to Namutree's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
(Edit: ah, didn't realize it was the pack posted earlier, I think - the thought was in the right place tho.) You gave a source credit link and certainly made it clear it was your edit, so it doesn't seem worthy of being assassinated in your sleep. But I can certainly edit your post if you wish, and will do so. I'd also like to say that there isn't a moratorium on sharing avatars/portraits etc. - but if an artist sees something and makes a request about their work, we here have to respect that. -
You might want to look at this stickied tier-to-SKU's post, perhaps that might help clear it up a bit, if I'm understanding your query correctly? http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71253-tiers-to-skus/?do=findComment&comment=1587046 The backer digital rewards will be available via the portal, but they haven't been included/put up yet, only the key-claiming.

The Custom Portraits Thread
LadyCrimson replied to Namutree's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I like this response...something to remember/keep in mind, perhaps. Not entirely related maybe but what always gets me is when someone makes a small change to someone else's work then post it with their own watermark as if Photoshopping the color of a cape or putting "lol" text over a photo now means it's their totally original creation. The internet has become a great community place for sharing interests, but sometimes it's a two-edged sword.
