  1. He probably would, except he never gets to see her throughout the whole game until nearly the end, i think. (and when he does, he's horrified in the "for how long have you been with us" kind of way) there's quite a few cutscenes on Ebon Hawk with Kreia moving around Disciple and tormenting him mentally... but never letting him see her. It looks like she's shielding herself from him, constantly affecting his mind. Now with this whole theory of her origins that makes quite a lot of sense why she'd act this way around him... "
  2. I think the idea is difficult to cope with, because from what i understand --which is admittedly little, SW didn't hold much of my interest-- the force is primarily a 'by-product' of life... something that always exist as long as there's life itself. It then surrounds you and flows through you, and if you are aware of this you can either tap into it (either forcefully or in balanced manner, giving back as much as you take so to speak) ... or you can shut it out. But since it's constantly generated it's not possible to actually 'kill' the force without completely erasing thing that creates it, i.e. every single live beings. But then again you have someone like Nihilus who's apparently something like a black hole to the force, and that whole 'echoes' thing whatever that's supposed to mean... gah, complicated. >.< ;
  3. There's a sketch featuring both male and female Revan on Aimo's KotOR page (last on the sketches list)
  4. He might be cackling with glee, but he's no fool. And for what's worth, i played that part just to hear that laughter again and again. This is first "villain" to me ever that actually manages to pull a cliche stunt like that off and not break the character. (that and the "are you threatening me" part... terrific) Interesting similarity to the episode 6 in the scene of Anakin ahem, replacing... count Dooku as the new apprentice... :s
  5. This would be essentially seeking a way to cut yourself from a drug that makes you superior to most of population and able to do things a few can do. Even the Jedi aren't selfless enough for that, no matter how high opinion they have on themselves... the lure is too sweet, and too strong. Once you go Force, you never go back. Especially when you have someone like Revan around, who'll manipulate events to make you experience just how superior you can get if you give yourself fully to your addiction. The exile was the only person known that's strong enough to eventually turn that call down. (at least that's how i understand the 'hole in the Force' thing... she's the only 'place' devoid of the force, because she actively refused to let it flow through her anymore, shielded herself from it if you will
  6. Frankly, "optimized for Nvidia" is no excuse -- there's quite a difference between 'running better' and 'running at all'. If you're making a graphics engine, then you can "optimize" it all you want for vendor-specific extensions... after you have the generic specification compliant code path done and running. It's not like checking which extensions are supported is hard thing to do with openGL. <_<
  7. I'd suspect the game is quite geometry-heavy and doesn't really bother with much of visibility checks, but just draws most of things most of the time. (the drawing speed is quite constant in any loaded area, no matter if you're looking at a wall or at the whole place) When on the other hand the FPS games go out of their way to ensure they draw as little as they can get away with, because the better framerate in them, the better control you have with your gun and the bigger is your chance to survive... so the end result differences are quite noticeable...
  8. Depends on if you side with Vaklu i think, because that results in another Jedi master biting the dust even if you don't want it, and Vrook alone is not much of gathering... I must say that part kind of sucked for me. I had Vrook saved, then had nice chat with the moustache guy, and finally i help Vaklu in his little rebellion and Master Vandar is like "omg die!" even if we had a friendly talk in the cantina not long before... so then i go back to Dantooine to the council and the other two Maters are like "you ebil Jedi killer >o" and nothing i'd say would make a difference... and after that all dialogue options given were not to Kreia's liking and small wonder really she wouldn't like any of them... that was the one moment when you could hear the wheels of story train screech in protest as it's forced to stay on the prepared plot rails...
  9. This is quite interestiing theory, and not really completely implausible. Am feeling rather dubious about it, since Kreia strikes me as someone quite a few years older than 45-55 ... 60, maybe, but that's stretching things. (i mean mostly mental age here, btw.) However, one thing that does make me almost wish it was true... is the horror that's going to sweep through all handmaiden's fanboys when they realize what the love of their life is going to look like few years down the road...
  10. Well i'll agree Exile was as much a guy as Revan was... "
  11. omg wth... that's not Visas with Exile... that's Atton with Visas, cheating on exile while she's busy elsewhere
  12. Didn't you pay attention to Kreia's lessons? It's not about the brute force, it's about knowing the right spots to hit with the force you have.
  13. To be honest i'd rather they didn't. KotOR games seem to be recognized mostly for strong story and interesting characters, not technical prowess. (even if they do look nice) It's the plot that drives them. Once you start teaching game new tricks, they tend to take over the design of game itself because well, if someone spent months coding someting like that then it better be used and not just once or twice, right? And so you get levels littered with dumb "puzzles" centered on the new functionality... shoot a dead body with gravity gun and have it topple pack of crates so you can move across a chasm, or whatever. How exciting. I bet there's obligatory ballistics course for the young Jedi that teaches them in advance how to get these corpse throws just right... and don't forget how gravity changes on different planets, we have to put at least one obligatory corpse toss event on each planet, so the player has opportunity to notice that. (see how easy it is to paint oneself in the corner from which you no longer even notice it's the "features" you put in the game controlling the design, not the other way around?) I wouldn't mind few kinks ironed out of current engine, and a bit more detail to the graphics...but other than that, i really see no point in the 'as real as possible yet still pointless and silly looking' physics and other stuff like that.
  14. "Nearly thousand visitors in less than 48 hours" (well, that's how many times this thread has been read... "
  15. I got through that fight without anything fancy or geometry cheats... just moved around. Put some distance between you and opponents who insist on using their melee weapons, get some blaster shots in... when they got to close, get some distance again. Keep shooting one of them, once she falls it becomes even easier. The basic clothes Atton start with (i kept them since they look cool and like others mentioned, they get nice bonus) and a pistol was all that's needed. Moving worked just as well in that "all handmaidens but one" sparring for that matter, except with force scream and some good placed lightsaber hits...
  16. OK, used my vote to bring Atton and Carth in the same bed score-wise yet again... " I resent lack of Sion as the choice, btw. But that might have something to do with the fact i had to make a saving throw to keep my pants on when he did the "you're beautiful to me" thing with that deep voice of his :">
  17. Couldn't restrain myself and told him exactly that... " Best thing out of helping the settlers in that small Dantooine conflict is, i get to see Vrook almost (and grudgingly) apologetic after all is said and done. I suspect that's the very reason next time i saw him during the council he jumped me, lightsaber swinging, the very second he saw me. Bet he was dreading the subject would pop up and the other Jedi master would get a laugh out of it... <_< Vrook is Kreia on bad hair day... except its' always bad hair day for Vrook.
  18. The notes you get when loading game while on M5 say something to the effect Nihilus, Sion and Traya all got drawn to Trayus academy where each learned different technique(?) Nihilus learned hunger, Sion <something> and Traya learned betrayal... and was later betrayed herself. Possibly they were part of the fighting forces, and their ship(s) crashed into M5 after the shadow generator was activated?
  19. It all depends on what sort of 'grey' character you choose to play, really. -.^ my Exile was an originally 'good' character who then got warped by things witnessed and done during the war... deep down she still had some shred of humanity left that makes her not do 'evil' things for no greater reason (the same that made her turn away from Revan's path after M5) but on top of that was emotional trainwreck of guilt and anger and doubt which she'd hide from everyone and try to never mention, mixed with outer layer of short temper, lot of cynicism gained over years, and war-induced lack of respect for weakness bordering on disdain. " With this kind of setup it comes quite natural during the game to take the selfish, manipulative route to most of choices, give support to someone like Vakluu (who btw lost all my respect in the end after he cowardly had his goon squad gun down the queen when i told him to do his dirty work himself...) ... hit back when someone is dumb enough to try to push you around and you can't see any potential gain from playing along... and occasionally do something good when there's no good reason not to. End result being most of the quests done with the alignment never moving more than half way towards the 'good' or 'evil' <_<
  20. I had no idea what that droid thing was "supposed" to look like until i stumbled on this thread (heck, i had no idea it's actually some invention pre-dating the KotOR games) Now, i can't say i was impressed with how it was portrayed by the game, but when i did a quick search and saw the concept sketch for the 'beast' that was quoted couple of times here... sorry, my reaction was along the lines of "... Huh? what is it, Power Rangers?" :"> it just really really looks like these cheesy, badly animated 'robo-monsters' or whatever they had in that show... which probably has something to do with the time when it was created, and what was considered "cool" back then...
