  1. Oh yeah that'd be great. It's difficult to implement, makes fights even easier, destroys game balance, a hit from a blaster could destroy a weapon just as much as a lightsaber so then you have to implement breaking weapons and let every weapon have the possibility of breaking a weapon, and then you have to hear five people say "Wow, kewl" and 5 million people complain how everyone except Jedi are now useless because HK-47's blaster rifle is destroyed every time you fight Sith, and we've seen lightsabers be destroyed before so obviously lightsabers should be breakable too and then everyone complains how they have to build a new lightsaber after every fight. Or it hardly ever happens and people complain how enemies seem to break their weapon a lot more then they break enemies weapons or that 10k credit blaster rifle is now lost forever.... Hmm on second thought this is an incredibly stupid idea. <_< Let's try and remember first and foremost this is a game. Not the holosuite in Star Trek.
  2. You were never a Sith in KOTOR. Just a fallen Jedi. Maybe if you had more time at the Sith academy on Korriban... but anyways Sith kill Sith all the time. Sith don't follow Sith unless they kill someone they consider superior. So no Sith are going to join you till you kill Malak or have incontrovertible proof you are Revan. But to kill Malak you have to get to him so in TRUE Sith fashion you use the republic to your own ends. Reach Malak, kill him and then at the end the Sith join you as they should.
  3. I guess he's just suggesting Bio's like the BG series had but more like the Arcanum backgrounds you could choose for your character which gave you some slight bonuses and penalties. Like traits in Fallout 1 and 2 but with stories behind them. The backgrounds didn't really add anything to Arcanum and I don't think they would in Kotor 2 either.
  4. Being a weak character and taking on a far superior foe is not insta-kill crap. I'm sure you could kill Sith guards in one swipe of your lightsaber by the end of KOTOR but that didn't mean you had insta-kills.
  5. Maybe they'd join as an apprentice. With the insanely high levels to be reached in KOTOR 2 I really hope they let you have an apprentice in some way. It would just be so wrong to have Jedi Master prestige class and never taught a single pupil.
  6. Hk-47 is your droid. He may not agree with a single thing your doing but he is NEVER going to up and leave you. Canderous is a soldier. In his mind you are his commanding officer. If you tell him to slaughter an entire world he probably would. And if you told him to go pick daisies he'd probably grumble and do it... at least till a better offer came along. Light sides actions are more palatable to evil NPCs than dark side actions are to good NPCs. Except for in the case of Dark Jedi or Sith "evil" (I consider them less morally inclined) NPCs are not going to leave just because you AREN'T butchering Tach monkeys or force choking lowly Czerka guards. Basically "good" NPCs have standards they hold people to while "evil" NPCs don't really care so long as they are benefiting somehow. Canderous doesn't care how you got that kicka** gun for him (stole it, killed someone for it, etc.) but Carth would.
  7. is that one of those star wars novels? i haven't heard of it. Uh..... It's the second Star Wars movie buddy...
  8. Part of it is the story behind the characters. A lot of players romanced Bastila, brought her back fom the dark side, and she is integral to the plot of KOTOR. They also fully upgraded HK-47 hearing all his hilarious stories. Plus he has an awesome backstory of being made by you. Jolee had some fairly entertaining stories and an interesting past plus he fought in the Exar Kun war. They were also very powerful characters in combat. Compare that to a whining, accusatory character whose supposed to be a republic war hero but has absolutely nothing interesting to say about it, a wookie with a lifedebt to you that still calls you a PoS basically and won't talk to you except on one planet, a small droid that only beeps and boops and is useless because skills are useless, etc. Small wonder these are the top 3 NPCs.
  9. Maybe if you're the ultimate munchkin they were underpowered. I mean I will admit I am quite the powergamer. Min maxing stats and all that but even I don't think lightsabers were underpowered. I could kill any enemy in seconds using a lightsaber. What more do you need? You want to rend entire planets in two with them? Anyways I think lightsabers use dex to hit while blades use strength. Useful for my weak consular. If there is a problem with them the solution is not to make them more powerful but to make the blades a little less powerful. Remember how many people use blades though. They have to make them pretty powerful to be appealing. The kewl factor alone with a lightsaber means 95% of players are going to use them over a blade. I still think blaster deflection should be impossible without one. That would make them more useful than a blade.
  10. The theory is that Darth is a shortened form of DARk Lord of the SiTH but George Lucas has never confirmed that. In fact I think hes said that it is just a name Sith use with no special relevance. In the EU Darth Bane is the sole surviving Sith at one point in the EU timeline and he creates the rule of two. So some people think as a sign of tribute to him all future Sith put Darth in front of their name. Since before this point in the time line Sith didn't all have Darth in front of their name. Exar Kun, Naga Sadow etc. But then in KOTOR we see Darth being used even though it isn't that long after the war with Exar Kun. (Sigh) Continuity is nigh impossible in a universe as enormous as SW. I tend to go with the shortened form of Dark Lord of the Sith. And yes even women would use Darth.
  11. Oh I see. There were more powerful weapons in KOTOR so lightsabers were overpowered. :D No. Those weapons were just even more overpowered. There's nothing wrong with being a Jedi and especially a Sith and using a blade instead of a lightsaber. Sith even had their own kicka** swords they made using Sith alchemy that could easily stand up to lightsabers. They only switched to lightsabers for their ability to defelect blasters. So how about that? No blaster bolt deflection except when a lightsaber is equipped.
  12. I didn't really notice the "underpowering" of the lighstaber what with how quickly everything died from it and slicing open every door and lockbox. One hit kills are an insanely stupid idea unless they are implemented for every weapon and animation reflects this. What do you want it to do? Cut a starship in to two? Leave it the way it is.
  13. FOr the seven styles that's way too many different animations to make it worth the time and effort. Though it would be kewl. But I do agree there should be 1 or 2 more automatically gained jedi feats.
  14. Then you never could have gotten the door open. Even if it isn't said let's just assume there is a security code on that door the guard has to enter. At the very least let's pretend the guard has to check in every so often and if they don't hear from him LOCKDOWN! Every security force on Taris is looking for you. You can't slaughter every Sith guard you see. Just like it would have been a dumb idea to attack the Sith patrols walking the courtyard. If you kill the guard at the door The Sith are going to be waiting for you there. For all intents and purposes game over. So sorry but you'll have to act intelligently instead of killing everything that looks at you funny.

  16. When you persuade someone they don't realize it. They think they are doing it of their own accord. Not so with Force Choke.
  17. Aww, don't do that. Karzie cracks me up. Instead of creating a diversion with a above suggested guard scenario, why not just use Force Wave to throw him against a wall so that he blacks out. That would be more a a neutral option really. You didn't kill him, but you didn't go to the trouble of creating a diversion and keeping him from all harm. Force choke does need to be implemented more in coversation though. The selkath in the entrance to Ahto City: "There is a tax of x value before you can go into Ahto City" **Force Chokes** "I don't think I'll be needing to pay that do you?" **Selkath is clutching at it's throat gasping for air, shakes it's head no** Then if your were really evil, you could throw him against the wall Jedi Knight style. Then as soon as you let go of him you are surrounded by security forces and droids and kicked off Manaan. Game Over.
  18. It may simply be the person playing is ignorant of what has happened up till this point. Not the player character. They might have been saying they have idea why you're in your skivvies and why the Ebon Hawk is like that. Or as someone said the PC may have been knocked unconscious and awakens. That's not memory loss and therefore not amnesia.
  19. The kids on Taris didn't have anything to do except that one alien taunting scene. Not worth including them. The stowaway was at least a 'quest'. I took the easy way out, booted her off the ship. shame, I'd much rather it got bloody. *nods to HK* How is it not worth including them? Anyways check your journal after helping or taunting the alien. It's a quest buddy.
  20. I abused the money dialog cheat in the release version of Morrowind, myself. Only fair given the fact merchants never had more than like 5g and some items could be more than 100g.
  21. But not the topic title. Or even the subtitle. Besides it's the same gist as using force choke because you couldn't use force persuade on them like that without cackling wildly and getting DS points. I think you could piss off/scare almost every NPC in the tattoine swoop track office.
  22. How about other than her? Maybe Taris? Well, guess not. Sure the kids making fun of the alien on Taris.
