  1. Pretty much all Force Persuade. "(Force Persuade) Give me money and leave my presence!" That sort of thing. Which would be using a force power in dialogue...
  2. Alignment shouldn't be destiny, but what about character? Is is such a bad thing if a game prevents people from behaving in an insanely inconsistent manner? It can't be bad for "role-playing" - a role-player wouldn't play such a character in the first place. Of course, the obvious objection is that the game doesn't know your motivations, so you could have a consistent personality that the game doesn't understand (which is something like the issue Hubert raised above). But as a theoretical point, I don't see a problem. As a former Dark Lord of the Sith who's fractured mind was wiped and given new memories by the council it is not hard to imagine some confusion and conflicting behavior to be exhibitied by Revan. God, alignment shouldn't even be in D&D, so many people don't understand what it means. And yes it is such a bad thing when an RPG shoehorns a player into doing anything.
  3. gawwwwwwd, im tryin to think.... didnt they have an evil yoda type in one of the games or EU somewhere? Its racking my braaaaaiins Maybe Dark Forces?
  4. There were quite a few times you could intimidate people around the swoop track with your force powers.
  5. That's really besides the point really, we are talking about music and it's role on this particular mediums. No one will argue William's score is what made a great deal of the Star Wars trilogy, not even you (me hopes). If KOTORII wishes to maintain the tradition of the films AT ALL, some random background yammering simply WILL NOT DO. Sorry I will. Star Wars would have been just as great had the music been less memorable. Just like I don't think a tv show is any worse just because their theme song sucks. I don't care If I'm alone on this. And I definitely disagree that a good game can suddenly become great just because the music is good. As I said and I hope you get the expression "Gravy is good, but it is not the meat and potatoes." As long as the music is good then that's all you need. The soundtrack doesn't also need to win a grammy to make the game itself worthy of praise. I hope you understand I'm not saying the music doesn't matter at all. I just disagree with how MUCH you think it matters. And even with a great soundtrack how many people remember more than one song from it? Sure plenty of people remember the Jaws theme but what about the other sounds in the movie? That's because the music is all background and is only meant to enhance the visual medium not surpass it.
  6. Music is the a way to communicate emotions. Wheter in a game or in a movie, the producers are always trying to pry an emotional responce from the aduience/player, and whilst a particular shot or an action sequence may set the scene, it's up to the music to grab your harm and guide you all the way throught it. When i listen to music, it isn't unsual my mind starts popping images in relation to the emotion contained within. In a movie, the image is actually there, music is there to complete the picture. It's not about the medium (visual, aureal or interactive), it's not about listening to a CD or whatching a DVD, it's about EMOTION, it's about the reason why i do all this thngs in the first place. This are not just different mediums for personal entartaiment. They all share the same function to me... Sure but I don't need every song in a movie to compete for my memory. That just distracts from the visual medium. If I happen to remember it good for the song. If I don't who cares. As long as I get it while I am watching or playing. It doesn't matter to me if I get the song stuck in my head for days or not.
  7. Yes. Id say the reason you care so much is you are a musical kind of guy. Which is fine. Some people are graphics whores and I guess some are music whores. Yes it would have. And most don't get any dues off-screen. Take the Oscars for example. Who cares who wins best song? Basically no one except for music lovers like you. That's because people prefer a catchy riff. A song that becomes identified with that game and the rest is just gravy. Is gravy good sure. But it's not the meat and potatoes. I loved the music too... When I am playing it. I'd say a balance of graphics and music is better than the extremes of either.
  8. If I want a song Ill buy a CD. I'm not playing KOTOR 2 hoping that there's a really good song in there. I'm not watching LOTR because it's soundtrack won awards. If the music really really sucked then I would care. That would detract from the game. Or if he put western music in an SW game. Otherwise game music is always forgettable as are most songs in movies.
  9. Wrong. You should be executed for even suggesting something like this. Has anybody here ever forgotten John Williams score after whatching the original Star Wars for the first time ?!? Or Basil Poledouris on Conan : The Barbarian ?!? Has anybody ever forgot the Jaws theme ?!? Or the Bartok music for Celesta, String and Percussion in The Shining ?!? What about Ligeti's Requiem from 2001 : A Space Odessy ?!? This days, wheter it's a game or a movie, musical scores are threated like cosmetic additions of little relevance, it completely sickens me... Yes. I have forgotten basically everyone of those songs you mentioned. If I were to hear them again that'd remind me of them. I think perhaps you should be executed for caring so much about the soundtrack. Anyways soundtracks for games are a lot different than soundtracks for movies. You can't let the soundtrack distract you from the game. I remember like one song from a movie. That's it. Normally it's the one they play all the time in commercials and things. Same for game. There's normally one song or melody and that's it.
  10. Gladius is a pretty good game especially if you're a fan of turn based tactical combat like FF Tactics which I normally am not but Gladius was an exception. I remember the music as being pretty good as well. Nothing truly memorable but what game soundtrack is? Other than the occasional catchy riff. Which is better then a soundtrack that tries to get more attention than the game itself. I'd say a good soundtrack is subtle, accentuates the mood of the game and is forgotten a few minutes after you turn off the power.
  11. Uh they are MORE options. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean the definition of more changes. Sounds like you didn't like anything about KOTOR and KOTOR2 isn't going to be that different. Why are you here?
  12. Translation: You can be more a munchkin you could before. It's a single player game. People can munchkin all they want. What business is it of yours? If you feel overpowered don't take a prestige class.
  13. Someone could hack the source code... <_<
  14. Very few people are going to care about that. At least with prestige classes you can be more Jedi than you could before.
  15. Basically... In Europe they allow plenty of sex but no violence. In America we are allowed tons of violence but no sex.
  16. I like every other KOTOR gamer when confronting Malak on the Leviathan had half his health gone in a second. Then there's the dumb cutscene with Bastila taking him on to "save" you. Yeah right. If you do include any scene like this or have us confront an end boss-like enemy before the end do what was done in BG with Sarevok and make them impossibly difficult so that the entire experience doesn't make us laugh (and not in a good way). I'm sure you will based on previous Black Isle games but I just had to say how dumb that scene was.
  17. It would have been nice to keep her from falling in the first place. I knew as soon as that stupid cutscene after EASILY beating Malak on the Leviathan that next time I saw her she'd be evil. It's been done a million times before and I hope it isn't done again.
  18. I'm not sure about my previous morals, if any Right, you can actually spank some sense into her, if you are a darksider. Forgot about that. I still felt cheated as a lightsider though, as she just runs off (like that whimp Carth when you are a darksider ). I would have preferred to kill her off there and then, feeling the loss if she was your romance option, or persuading her to stay out of the conflict, persuade her to join you for the end game, pretty much anything but the way it was implemented. Similar for darkside option, kill her if she will not follow you instead of Malak or have your new apprenctice at your side, helping you to kill off the other party members. In the end, it was a yes/no thing that determined whether or not you ended up being good or bad... I heven't explored all the options in the game yet, so I might be overlooking something... Just didn't like that particular part, it felt "wrong" for some reason. Look at Return of the Jedi. Luke has the option there to kill Vader and take his place. Of course it's a movie so he doesn't. But even there we see the moment of truth. Just like in KOTOR there is one defining moment that makes the character good or bad. Not coincidentally it is also the LAST decision they make. This doesn't make all the good stuff Luke did before any less important. Nor does it make the quests you did before less important. If he had taken Vader's role then people might feel gyped that the entire two movies before it were a total waste of time. That's why people seem to be bothered by the choice in KOTOR because some people did choose then to go down the dark path. But we must remember unlike a movie this is a single player game that affects only the person playing it. Don't worry about how other people played it. That is why its optional. Choose whatever you like. You aren't penalized either way. Except in the force points department. There are a lot of RP ways to justify falling to the dark side at that point and we have to remember this is a game. Not everyone wants to play it 10 or 12 times. Some people want to play it once but do want to see the DS ending.
  19. Gorth you persuade her to turn against Malak by beating her in combat. Then she recognizes your strength. You aren't bending to her morals (unless you want to RP a Jedi that falls then because he loves her) and besides SW is all about falling to the dark side. Which is normally a sudden departure from your previous morals. And you can eventually turn her back to the lightside.
  20. You may have been in exile but Revan is big news. No reason you can't have heard about it. Or she could say "You knew Revan?" And your response can be "I fought with him/her in the Manadalorian wars." Or she can say "I believe he and Bastila had an intimate connection. They may have been in love" and you can say, "No way," or "Sounds like Revan."
  21. To quote from that articls. "The skills system in The Sith Lords won't be radically different from what you saw in KOTOR, but it'll definitely give you more options. For instance, you'll now be able to use mines to unlock doors if your security skill fails you." I don't know about you but I never needed anything but my lightsaber to open anything.
