Wow none of that made any sense. I didn't say it was cheating to not have a level cap just that there is no point. It breaks the game and you might as well be cheating since you're basically unkillable. All games have a level cap. Find one game that doesn't. So what anyone is asking when someone asks for NO level cap is to get to like 99th level. This is fine if you design your combat system and characters to go up 99 levels but D20 doesn't. And D20 is the influence for KOTOR. So asking for no level cap unbalances the very system of the game. Oh I see if we just let them get to level 99 no one will cheat for levels? This is comepletely inaccurate. (I don't care if people cheat in an SP game but since you brought this up) People will cheat to get the max level from the beginning. People that want to cheat will cheat no matter how easy you make the game. A capless game doesn't limit anything but the ability of the developers to create a challenging game. Look at FF. Almost everyone gets to level 99 but the end boss is normally only a challenge up to like level 60-70. So you kill them in one or two hits. Lotsa fun. So then Square starts adding super difficult boss monsters for the people that max out their character and the end bosses are a big joke. It's dumb and detracts from the game. By knowing that people will almost certainly reach the level cap and what level that is developers can make the end boss the hardest fight like it should be. They just need to scale it better so you don't hit the level cap too fast. No one wins on an internet message board. Every Black Isle game has had a level cap. All games have level caps. You JUST said you thought they could handle a capless game. Make up your mind.

HEHEH Good one.

OOOH and you must be a pimp. I wouldn't say I am picking on Jags. Besides I think Jags can take care of himself. Who are you his mom?
-
No fun?? Level 20 is above Yoda. The fights are pathetically easy. I will never understand this munchkin desire to have a character that can destroy stars with his mind. I like having a powerful character sure but what do you want to reach in KOTOR? 60? The system isn't designed for characters that high. It's designed for a maximum level of 20. Anything higher and you might as well just cheat and have an invincible character because for all intents and purposes you will be.

HEHEHEHE Bring it on. Gosh I love this attention.

How in the heck are XP caps for cheaters and lamers???? The whole point of a level cap is to keep from breaking the game with characters way too powerful for it. NOT having a level cap is cheating.

It just seems rather hypocritical that you feel that others are "oversensitive". seemed to be your hallucination despite your later stance of:
-
Well almost every game has good parts. Nothing is all bad. But SWG doesn't have enough good parts. Anyways that is beside the point. You will be human in KOTOR but at least the character is not pregenerated so there is still plenty of creativity.
-
:D LMAO. SW Galaxies good! and because you can be a alien race. (wipes tears from eyes) Sorry but you have to be human. Plot and story reasons. Still plenty of room to be creative though.

Look friend, I'm not seeking any quarrel with you, but look at the facts. I haven't explicitly "called you names" as such. I'm merely describing your belligerent attitude. Characterizing you comments as impudent (lacking modesty ), or insolent ( insultingly contemptuous in speech ), seems to accurately portray your behavior, does it not? Firstly I'm not launching personal attacks on you. You are. Secondly, lets see you "disagreeing with", whilst "laying out all the reasons why":
-
Nothing was nerfed. This is NOT SW D20. It is simply the way it is in KOTOR. There was never a change therefore no nerfing.
-
I did. Sorry you didn't. Caps are neccessary though. Otherwise you might as well cheat your first time through.

On the Internet, troll is a slang term for a person who posts messages without contributory content, simply intended to incite conflict. The actual subject is a mere ludibrium for the troll, who is a type of opportunistic provocateur. I am not disagreeing with you merely for the sake of argument. I am merely pointing out your idea is consistently proven to be a stupid feature in video games. I have also included a wide number of reasons this is so. I've also made numerous constructive posts and a few topics with the sole purpose of contributing my thoughts and ideas to making KOTOR 2 a better game. Just because they may come into conflict with your views does not make me a troll. Indeed your calling me a troll and the other assorted names you've used in addition to calling me stupid because you cannot address a single concern or question that has been directed at you is far more trollish. I agree giving more power to lightsabers is pointless. I'm out of my element? You haven't exactly proven yourself to be a master debater here.
-
You mean like Kotor? Ok, I exaggerated but I did hit the cap long before the end. You're exaggerating? Sounds about right to me. All Bioware games have you hitting the level cap real fast.
-
Unfortunately they are often necessary. But one day we WILL have holosuites.
-
With proper scaling, playtesting and balance a level cap is just fine. The only way a level cap is dumb is putting in so much XP that halfway through the game you hit it. Very frustrating. Anyways there's always some sort of level cap. In FF sure you can get to level 99 but then that's it. But no one ever complains that it has a level cap even though it does.

I prefer real definitions. That isn't a definition. Just a joke. Like your argumnents. You say lightsabers are underpowered because of Bacca's ceremonial blade? That is a legendary wookie war blade. Of course it kicks a** fully upgraded. Might it be overpowered? Sure. That just means it and some other weapons should be lessened in power. It is completely fallacious to claim logically other weapons must then be given even more power to balance it all out. I like how you tell me to try and prove you wrong but then put limitations on it. Hey how about you tell me what weapons are more powerful than lightsabers but don't include any blades. How about you calm down and learn to accept criticism? <_<

Should there be prestige classes?
Shdy314 replied to Darque's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Like I said I am 99% certain NPCs will reach level 40 in their respective class. Would prestige classes for them be kewl? Yes. But not enough to justify the designing of these NPC pestige classes and balancing them all that good stuff that increases development time. -

Non-Jedi are already at a significant disadvantage in combat against Jedi. Im sure that is what they will do. And a level 40 scoundrel is still useful. -

Even in D20 you don't have to have a prestige class at high levels to remain useful. -
Loved everything you had to say. Only comments are that, yes, computer use and repair COULD be helpful but with combat as easy as it is it didn't really matter a whhole lot if you went ahead and blew up the power conduit and friend them instead of just killing them yourself. Or yeah it's kewl to repair a droid and have it fight by you for a short time but most droids went down real quick mid to late game and also were not that helpful. Especially for how many parts it required. HMMMM. Actually now that I think of it parts should be gotten rid of too. At least with a really good repair skill the amount of parts needed should be extremely low. Being a really good mechanic means improvising and repairing without all the neccessary pieces at your disposal.

Munchkin From Wizard of Oz a whiny little power-gamer type noted for milking rules till they scream. So someone saying lightsabers are underpowered because SW D20 makes them more powerful and KOTOR is based on D20 so the rules say they should be more powerful. Whining that lightsabers don't do enough damage because some weapons do more and this goes against the rules of SW is a munchkin. Also they are only noted for milking rules. Just flat out whining incessantly for more and more power (especially in a game where combat is already a joke) still makes someone a munchkin. I don't have any problem with how you play your game. Powergame your heart out but games can't be designed around power gamer's wishes unless you want Diablo or something.

I think that the rumors of the death of the Jedi will turn out to be greatly exaggerated. Maybe you are the last known Jedi in the Outer Rim. Since that's where the Sith Lords have gained control.
-
There's a reason they say "KNOWN." They specifcally use this word to say only that most other Jedi are dead OR in hiding. We know Krea is a Jedi or at least a powerful force user and is on the first level of the game so that, sole Jedi survivor stuff is already debunked. Probably the council remains on Coruscant but is in hiding and you must seek them out. Probably before the Sith Lords find them.

Or (more relevantly) Fallout 2.
