  1. Ironic isn't it! I wouldn't worry much about Santorum. First I don't think he really believes what he saysa because his history in the senate and house before is sort of middle of the road. I think he's trying to define himself as notRomney to try and reassemble the broken neo-con faction that GWB rode into office. Nobody loves Romney. I know I don't. But everyone agrees he can win and most are taking the pragmatic view that a big government republican will be less onerous than Obamas brand of big government liberalisim. And Romney can win. Second, Santorum cannot capture the nomination on his own. But he can screw the whole thing up for everyone if he's petty enough to do it. The sad thing is, if he does get it I'm voting for him. Obama and his authoritarian vision of government scares me to death. Not for nothing Hurlshot, why do you think private firearms sales have increased by 400% in the past four years? I literally do not know a single person that does not think there is a possibility of some kind of schisim is in the coutry's future. I hope and pray it never comes to that but we are coming to a point where there are two different and mutually exclusive visions of where the country goes in the future. Either one side submits, we part company, or we fight. On a different note try to read this one without your head exploding: http://freebeacon.co...nds-like-these/ *Note that site is not what I'd call a legitimate news site, I'm posting it here for entertainments sake,
  2. Splash a little whisky in that tea! It won't solve your problems but it will make them seem easier to handle. If that doesn't work after the first cup or two I'd suggest you try a third or fourth cup. Sooner or later it always works.
  3. Tell me if this seems a little selfish. It is now mathematically impossible for any candidate other than Romney to capture enough delegates to win the nomination. The very best Santorum or Gingrich could hope for is to prevent Romney from capturing enough delegates to win the nomination before the convention in August. That will lead to a brokered convention with all three candidates so damaged it's concievable none of them will end up with the nomination. And even if one of the three ends up nominated their campaign funds will have been utterly spent just to get that far with just sixty days before the election and no money to spend on actually campaigning. Plus a delegate fight on the convention floor may leave such a bad taste that the nominee may not even have the support of their whole party. Don't get me wrong, they will not support Obama (I'd rather be eaten by ants than vote for him) but enough may vote for a 3rd party just to make a point. This scenario has happened a half dozen times over the years and the candidate that emerged lost in the general election every single time. So it is impossible for Santorum or Gingrich to become President at this point and their continued fighting will only help Obama. If they truly believe their own words that Obama is damaging the country you'd think they would put the interests of the country first and drop out. They have both said they are going all the way. That is selfish to me. Just my $.02
  4. 'fraid so. The biggest problem in the world today, in every country and clime, is that humans are just not capable of leaving the other humans alone.
  5. That's it, I'm screwed. I haven't had a good nights sleep that wasn't alcohol induced in ten years. I kid of course but insomnia used to be a real problem for me and I was self medicating with bourbon for a time. A little while back it just stopped being a problem. Look at it on the bright side though Hurlshot, if you are awake when Putin comes to get you at least he won't take you by suprise. This thread was about something along those lines right?
  6. Nice! Japan is a very cool place. If you can stand the traffic in and around the metro areas at least.
  7. Ugly, ugly game tonight. With Tampa and Winnipeg getting hot and Washington still hanging around the Cats cannot keep laying eggs like they did in Philly.
  8. There was never any danger of losing the house or anything like that. Things got a little scary when AT&T laid me off a few years back but I was very fortunate to find work quickly and I've been smart with money ever since. My mortgage and electric, dog expenses and health/car insurance are my only bills. The job is as safe as it could be. They won't let us carry but we do have armed security on the job sites. Plus I believe all the right people are "encouraged" not to bother us if you know what I mean. But it is worrisome, at least a little. George Norry almost got himself kidnapped in Cabo. http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/103322/ktrh-talks-to-george-noory-about-scare-while-trave
  9. Ha, no chance of that. The nectar of the agave is a dangerous spirit indeed. But, in other news I've left CCI. I'm self employed at the moment. The job in Mexico is a design/consulting contract from one of the Mexican governments main construction contractors. It involved becoming familiar with CoFeTel (their version of our FCC) rules and standards. Really just more of the same that we use. This should last another three months of so and after that I'm working with a few people I knew at AT&T & CCI to start a company to bid on some of the design work that CCI no longer wants to pursue. I've got a good feeling that this is going to work. More and more telecom companies want to sub their network design work so we might as well jump on it.
  10. Hi everyone. I'm back. Sooner than expected but I'll be going back next month. I've been working in rual Mexico the last five weeks. Mexico wouldn't be such a bad place if it wasn't so screwed up. Nice folks but it is just a mess with drugs, corruption and all. Nice to be home though. I flew into Jackson to pick up the dogs (they were happy as heck to see me) then drove home this morning.
  11. Hey everyone I'm going to be gone from the board for a time. Everything is ok, but I've got an opportunity to do some work in a very, lets say unusual place. Somewhere where internet connectivity figures to be hard to find. I'll be able to tell the whole story when I get back. Until then all of you be good and don't do anything I wouldn't do!
  12. http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeozanian/2012/02/04/nfl-owners-to-split-over-2-billion-when-league-adds-two-teams/ Not to go OT on you here but this is certainly interesting.
  13. Actually, I kinda like arguing with somebody who doesn't get all gasbaggy "NYah nyah nyah! I'm better than you" (you know, the Gromnir method) becuase it often forces you to examine the same set of data, from a different point. And I don't know who you're voting for beyond the giant red elephant. I'm assuming it's not captain Crazy (sorry, but Gingrich is just getting scary... condos on the moon? SOPA being a LIBERAL tool? WTF?) so the only other viable option is Romney. That said... no offense but the Republican's have about as much of a chance of winning the election as Palin had getting good reviews on her movie that came out last year. (This one) The two guys who are vying for the republican side of the ticket are A) The architect of attack politics, cheater extrodinare, Over the top big government, rich, insider, and all around jerk Gingrich and B) Mormon, unrelatable, rich-and-known-for-it, inconsistant, and about as conniving as my plastic knife Romney. (although when his gloves come off he can shred people, as seen in florida against gingrich) But either way, they've both been murdering each other so much that the american public makes a mockery of them both while Obama actually tries to be personal and raises HUGE amounts of cash. Oh, and Santorum is still around... and declared that abortions are linked to cancer. You are correct, I am voting for the elephant no matter which one ends up with the nomination and I'll probably have to hold my nose to do it. But the Obama admin has to go. Everything I posted before was true.... all of it. Obama was not personally responsible for all of it but all of it was done in his name by people he put in place. The single most important thing in this world, individual liberty, means nothing to these people. Obama believes and has all but said the government should dominate every aspect of our lives. That is a perversion of what this country is supposed to be. I'd love to get into this more but I have to leave for work and I'll be on the road for a few days.
  14. @Calax I could spend the next hour posting links and writing a witty response to you but we both know that would be a complete waste of my time wrtitng and your time reading. You an I could not even agree if rain was really wet and I like you too much to argue with you. We both know who is voting for who and neither of us is changing the other's mind. @Krezack, 307 million Americans don't give a **** what you and your 53 friends think.
  15. I've been on the road for a while. I was in Jackson MS for work then Amarillo TX on business (yes there is a difference). Next week I get to continue my tour of dried up southern boom towns in Shreveport LA. Anyway what the heck happeed to the boad? I'm gone for a while and you guys change everything. I guess it takes some getting used to.
  16. It was a great game to watch. Too bad there are no sports to watch until baseball kicks off in April.
  17. Hi Krezack.
  18. You think I'd like somebody who is going so far as to slam the "liberal media" for asking a question about his relationship to his second wife and his asking her if he can have an open relationship, after she came down with MS... when he was the head scalper in the Clinton/Lewinski scandal who made it a national issue that he president got an extra marital blowjob. The guy is a walking double standard, and his "big government" that you think I'd like, craps all over the constitution and doesn't even come close to being socially progressive. For the record, I'm not big government per se, but I do understand the necessity of having larger government apparatuses in order to contain, control, and regulate industries that would otherwise kill people via uncaring. I was joking Calax.
  19. Obama has not turned out to be the left wing commie nutjob I expected him to be. However, he has no respect for the limits of executive power. For example he appoints unelected and unconfirmed "czars" then gives them a lot of extra-constituitonal power. He just signed a SOPA treaty with China without even waiting for it to be ratified by the Senate (an impeachable offense if his own party were not in control of the Senate.) He has spent more money and added more to the national debt than all forty three previous presidents COMBINED. He joined the government of Mexico in a lawsuit against the state of Arizona and has sued Arizona, Florida and Alabama for doing no more than enforcing federal law. He set up a 1-800 number so his supporters could call in and report people who were opposed to Obamacare. He seized GM and fired the CEO despite the fact that he has no authority to do so under the constitution. But since the Democrats controlled everyrthing he could get away with it. He threatend GM bond holders with criminal prosecution if they did not sell their bonds for 10% of value then gave the company to the Union chiefs who supported his election. Once again the democrats in the congress let him get away with it. He allowed assault weapos to be sold to Mexican Drug Cartels so he could make a case for gun control. His homeland security department declared veterans, white gun owners, and pro-lifers as likely terrorists and "persons of interest". He loaned millions of taxpayer dollars to "Green Energy" companies that had no business plans. The CEOs of those companies (who were either campaign staffers or financial backers of his campaign) embezzeld the money, bankrupted the comapnies and he refuses to order his own justice department to investigate. He literally sabatoged the clean up efforts of the BP oil spill to obscure the magnitude of the damage and his administrations involvement in BPs lax safety inspections, after all they donated heavily to his campaign. He halted all off shore drilling and stopped the keystone and north bay pipelines costing thousands of jobs and crippling our domestic energy procuctions causing gasoline and heating costs to escalate which of course drives up the price of everything else. I could go on and on. This was in just four years. Very dangerous. I hear a lot of people saying they don't even recognize the country they live in now. I can't say I disagree. State politicians in Texas are now talking openly about secession. He has to go.
  20. Because of the way that the primary's are set up... you have to fight to be the most extreme member and pander to the factions that'll give the most support within the party.... just to turn around and fight it out on a national scale against the current president, and trying to pander to the moderates. Basically, the way its' set up right now, the most effective leaders and bi-partisan/moderate people who could even think of running for the presidency, are weeded out before they can even try to act moderate/bi-partisan. I did have myself an internal laugh when my friends back home (when I said that Mitt was the only chance in hell the republicans had of ejecting Obama from the White House) said that Romney wasn't a conservative... he's a moderate, and thus they wouldn't vote for him. Then I ended up accidently tripping their mom's "insanity" switch, and she went off about how within a year we'll be eating our own dead and everything will become mad max. Actually Calax if you ignore Gingrichs campaing speeches and what he said in debates (it's all just talk anyway) and look at the legislative bills and ideas he's championed and supported over the years you'd probably like him. He is all for a big authoritarian government... just so long as he is in control of it. I'm not a big fan of Romey by any means, I'm much more a fan of RP as you could probably guess. But Obama is dangerous, and for the sake of the country I love he needs to be gone. Romey is just least of all evils that has the best chance of making that happen.
  21. Sorry Archie, Dennis Kucinich isn't running this time and he is the only one of any politcal stripe who meets that criteria.
  22. Conrgrats Wals and don't feel bad. If your current employer could find someone who'd do your job for 15% less they'd fire you in less than a heartbeat. It's just the way things are. I cooked up some venison tonight with long grain wild rice and butter beans. Now it's time to pour a highball glass of Knob Creek with two ice cubes and retire to the front porch. Life is good!
  23. I just do not understand this! How is that miserable bloated gasbag of a politcal caricture (Gingrich) actually looking like he might win the nomination? He would be the worst possible choice for the Repub nomination but somehow he is winning. I could understand if it were Ron Paul pulling the upset but Gingrich? This guy has more ethical issues than Warren Harding. I'm still supporting Romney and I hope he'll pull it out. He'd make a much better President than Barry O and much better than Gingrich. If Newt gets the nom I'm voting Libertarian. Between Obama and Newt we'd all be f****d either way.
  24. Cats are in a real skid lately. They lost in Chicago las night and it was ugly. Only two points for their last six games. With Theodore hurt they might as well have a sixth skater for all the good Clemmonson & Markstrom have done between the pipes.
  25. I had new furniture delivered this morning. A new couch, 2 recliners & 2 end tables. LA-Z-Boy. Whoo Hooo. They were expensive but the are soooooo comfortable. The driver was bitching about delivering out where I live. To call it rual would probably not do it justice.
