When your business plan is based on a cartoon film...
Guard Dog replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
It's less a function of purely redistribution than it is of that higher incomes pay more tax, and per capita incomes are generally higher in the "bluer" states. Also, locations of major military installations make a big difference in terms of where money gets spent. As for the "extra economic growth" thing, well, good luck with that. Sounds like wishcasting to me. Those taxes are for redistribution though, miltiary spending aside. I'm not gowing to retread the economic growth argument, but that would be one way to find out, if historical evidence isn't enough. Beware what you wish for. I think that is a near certainty in the not too distant future. I believe it is necassary, unavoidable and undesireable. -

Which would leave "real America" in the same situation Scotland would find itself: out of money. If you look at the balance of payments between each state's citizens and the federal government in aggregate, the net of federal taxes, spending, and transfers is, in effect, a whole lot of money being taken from the Northeast and the West Coast and given to the states in between. On the other hand the change on the House of Representative and Congress could work out to our favor. Although that is hoping for much. Change is coming in November I suspect. And I daresay you will not like it when it does. -
Micronauts were the best:http://www.toymania.com/columns/spotlight/s1micronauts.shtml They had spring loaded projectiles you could shoot at your little brother/sister. They don't make cool stuff like that any more.

I got out of a speeding ticket once by telling the cop I had a case of stomach flu and felt I was going to be sick and wanted to get to a bathroom before it was too late.

Between the Eurpean championships, the NCAA baseball playoffs, the Indy Car races, and the Rays-Marlins series over the weekend I have been glued to my TV for days. I gotta snap out of this before the Olympics kicks off and I sink right back into this chair again.

BREAKING NEWS: ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE UNLEASHED IN FLORIDA
Guard Dog replied to Llyranor's topic in Way Off-Topic
This story is just the gift that keeps on giving: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/06/07/zombie-bullets-in-high-demand-following-flesh-eating-attacks/ Also, I've created a new Zombie Repellant spray. Just one squirt will keep cannibal zombies away for up to 12 hours! (It's really just lemon juice and water... but don't tell anyone that). I just sprayed some this morning and have not had one come near me all day! So if you want to buy my Zomb-Away spray, I'll link my website once I make one. I'm so sure it will work that if you are attacked by a cannibal zombie I'll refund double your purchase price. Note: Zomb-Away may cause redness if sprayed into the eyes. You know the funny thing is, if I actually did that, someone would buy it. -

I don't think they have handled Jon's character right. It's not the actor he's fine. The way he's written is just wrong. The Jon Snow from the books is a lot more capable and pragmatic and is well respected by his brothers and even Mormont. In the show, not so much. For the most part the actors are great. None of them are miscast. The guy playing Rob is a little stiff and wooden but

Excerpt: The rest is here: http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/06/showbiz/ray-bradbury-obit/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 I've always like his writing. He was one of the first to begin writing of future societies as distopian in nature. Other than Orwell of course. Farenhiet 451 was one of my favorite books plus I had an old copy of "Golden Apples of the Sun" with a lot of short stories including The Sound of Thunder Out of the nursery into the college and back to the nursery; there

Thanks all! I just took it for a long shake down ride today. Definitely a lot of fun.

It's finally finished. My restoration project is finally done, for the most part at least. The last three weeks I've been putting it together, I finished rebuilding the engine and installing the seats and dash. I rebuilt both the front and rear, put on the new rotors and brakes. The only things I did not do myself were the transmission, paint, tires and convertable top. It has a rebuilt dodge 383 engine (original engine), 4 barrel Mopar carburetor (new), rebuilt transmission (from a 73' Barracuda) the dash and seats are from a '61 Fury and the backseat and convertable motor is from a ' 69 Chevelle. Definitely a mutt car but it runs f*****g great.

I caught the game last night. It seems like the Devils playes a better game, they were sharper in their passing and checking but the shots on goal were about even and they just came up short. Sort of like the last game. Ironically enough both head coaches used to be Panther coaches.

I just saw the public wifi at Universidad del Noroeste in Hermasillo is now up, Kick @$$. That was the first one we completed back in January. -
Actually the communist girl from the last page looks really good to me too. I'd even feign interest in what she had to say for a shot at her. It's kinda been a while I guess.

What car? There is a car in that picture?

It would never make it to the SCOTUS before next year. They have already heard all the cases they are going to this year and this has no reason to get an emergency hearing. Besides, the government is the defendant in this case, I don't think the President can allow is solicitor general to argue in defense of DOMA to the SCOTUS after he has come out publicly for gay marriage.

Oh please, there's been psychos since the beginning of time. This ain't nothing new. Yeah but now they're eating us! -
The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals has struck down the DOMA. That doesn't actually mean anything right this second but it will becoe important here shortly. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/31/us-doma-appeal-idUSBRE84U0TO20120531

Yeah, they're doing good. What I find more interesting, however, is the Orioles. Staying on top for as long as they have, that's a change. It'd be kind of cool to see them finally do well again after so long. The AL East needs a shakeup (away from constant Boston/NY). Doesn't make me like them, tho. Plus they had just beaten the Sox 2 out of 3 in Fenway when I posted that.
