  1. It would be cool to be like the guy in the Dos Equis commercials: http://dosequis.com/
  2. I'm having a crisis this morning. I got out of the shower and I looking at the mirror getting ready to shave when I noticed some of my whiskers are f*****g gray! How the heck did this happen?
  3. Now there is a truth if ever I heard one.
  4. Now reading Unsaid by Neil Abramson. This book lhas lived up to the hype so far. For a change. Also reading The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun by JRR Tolkien. This is the last of his published work I have not read. I just started it last night.
  5. Taxation per se is not theft. Everyone who benefits from the common good of society should help pay for that society, Of course that certainly does not happen in most countries. The idea of even the poor having no tax obligation to fund the benefits they enjoy does not sit well with me. I think a national retail sales tax that exempts food and medicine and other essentials is worth considering in lieu of income taxes because it taxes consumption and impacts everyone. Everyone pays proportionaly to their participation in society. The more you spend the more you pay. However, there is the argument that that will give birth to an under the table barter economy and I'll admit it might. Despite the marxist rantings of one of the less pleasant posters of this board I do think a flat tax is also a fair solution. As Enoch posted really no one has heartburn with paying for roads, police, public services, national defense, etc. It really becomes irksome when our hard earned money is wasted and given to those who do not deserve it. Not much you can do about it but vote the SOB's out when they do misuse it. I can't wait for November.
  6. You know what's ironic, I know at least three women in their mid to early twenties who complain about how hard it is to meet a good guy. None of them is objectionable looking (I would'nt call them reaving beauties either) and I know at least one likes NWN & NWN2 ( I gave her my copy of them and she is into them now). And I know guys like Calax who have nothing wrong with them and they are all out there looking for each other yet never seeming to find each other. Strange how that works isn't it? Now as far as getting a roll in the hay goes that is something I've never had any real trouble with because I have high alchohol tolerance and low standards.
  7. Now reading The Dog Cancer Survival Guide bu Dr. Damien Dressler. My pups are all healthy (although they are all elderly now). I'm just interested in the cancer prevention/mitigation diet tips and nutricuticals guide.
  8. I went through a pretty bad stage in life a while back. My first career flopped, my business failed, my wife left me, I lost my house, and I was dead broke and nearly ruined in debt. All this within a span of 9 months or so. I got through it by getting massively drunk a lot. Then I discovered Baldurs Gate and pretty soon I felt more friends with the characters in that game than with folks in real life. Then one day I just woke up and it was over. I was fine and life moved on. You are in a dark tunnel right now but don't ever doubt one day you won't be. It'd be a shame to not be here when that day comes. As for relationships, they come and they go. It sounds like a cliche and it will no doubt piss you off to hear it but it's true. It sounds trite to say "you'll meet someone" but you will.
  9. Maybe it will never happen. I hope not. I think in the long run it would be for the best but in the short term it would be terrible. But I've made my own preparations if it ever does.
  10. I'll drink to that! I happen to have a bottle of fine nine year old small batch sitting on the kitchen counter right now.
  11. It's less a function of purely redistribution than it is of that higher incomes pay more tax, and per capita incomes are generally higher in the "bluer" states. Also, locations of major military installations make a big difference in terms of where money gets spent. As for the "extra economic growth" thing, well, good luck with that. Sounds like wishcasting to me. Those taxes are for redistribution though, miltiary spending aside. I'm not gowing to retread the economic growth argument, but that would be one way to find out, if historical evidence isn't enough. Beware what you wish for. I think that is a near certainty in the not too distant future. I believe it is necassary, unavoidable and undesireable.
  12. Which would leave "real America" in the same situation Scotland would find itself: out of money. If you look at the balance of payments between each state's citizens and the federal government in aggregate, the net of federal taxes, spending, and transfers is, in effect, a whole lot of money being taken from the Northeast and the West Coast and given to the states in between. On the other hand the change on the House of Representative and Congress could work out to our favor. Although that is hoping for much. Change is coming in November I suspect. And I daresay you will not like it when it does.
  13. Micronauts were the best:http://www.toymania.com/columns/spotlight/s1micronauts.shtml They had spring loaded projectiles you could shoot at your little brother/sister. They don't make cool stuff like that any more.
  14. I got out of a speeding ticket once by telling the cop I had a case of stomach flu and felt I was going to be sick and wanted to get to a bathroom before it was too late.
  15. Between the Eurpean championships, the NCAA baseball playoffs, the Indy Car races, and the Rays-Marlins series over the weekend I have been glued to my TV for days. I gotta snap out of this before the Olympics kicks off and I sink right back into this chair again.
  16. Duke? Snake eyes? Destro? Who the heck are you guys talking about? This is the real GI Joe from when I was a kid:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._Joe_Adventure_Team Oh God how did I ever get so old!
  17. This story is just the gift that keeps on giving: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/06/07/zombie-bullets-in-high-demand-following-flesh-eating-attacks/ Also, I've created a new Zombie Repellant spray. Just one squirt will keep cannibal zombies away for up to 12 hours! (It's really just lemon juice and water... but don't tell anyone that). I just sprayed some this morning and have not had one come near me all day! So if you want to buy my Zomb-Away spray, I'll link my website once I make one. I'm so sure it will work that if you are attacked by a cannibal zombie I'll refund double your purchase price. Note: Zomb-Away may cause redness if sprayed into the eyes. You know the funny thing is, if I actually did that, someone would buy it.
  18. Jeez, what the heck is going on in the world these days: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/louisiana-man-bites-face-689241
  19. I don't think they have handled Jon's character right. It's not the actor he's fine. The way he's written is just wrong. The Jon Snow from the books is a lot more capable and pragmatic and is well respected by his brothers and even Mormont. In the show, not so much. For the most part the actors are great. None of them are miscast. The guy playing Rob is a little stiff and wooden but
  20. Excerpt: The rest is here: http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/06/showbiz/ray-bradbury-obit/index.html?hpt=hp_c2 I've always like his writing. He was one of the first to begin writing of future societies as distopian in nature. Other than Orwell of course. Farenhiet 451 was one of my favorite books plus I had an old copy of "Golden Apples of the Sun" with a lot of short stories including The Sound of Thunder Out of the nursery into the college and back to the nursery; there
  21. Thanks all! I just took it for a long shake down ride today. Definitely a lot of fun.
  22. It's finally finished. My restoration project is finally done, for the most part at least. The last three weeks I've been putting it together, I finished rebuilding the engine and installing the seats and dash. I rebuilt both the front and rear, put on the new rotors and brakes. The only things I did not do myself were the transmission, paint, tires and convertable top. It has a rebuilt dodge 383 engine (original engine), 4 barrel Mopar carburetor (new), rebuilt transmission (from a 73' Barracuda) the dash and seats are from a '61 Fury and the backseat and convertable motor is from a ' 69 Chevelle. Definitely a mutt car but it runs f*****g great.
  23. I caught the game last night. It seems like the Devils playes a better game, they were sharper in their passing and checking but the shots on goal were about even and they just came up short. Sort of like the last game. Ironically enough both head coaches used to be Panther coaches.
  24. It's finally finished. My restoration project is finally done! Pics will be posted soon! That was a teaser by the way.
