  1. Today I discovered Jameson Gold Reserve Irish Whiskey. It is not cheap, but it is smooth as a satin sheet with a hot redhead on it. I've got a glass in hand, one of several, and the Classic Vinyl channel on my XM radio blasting. All in all a pretty good day.
  2. Yes, yes and yes again. I'd trade Obama for either Romney or Santorum right now hands down. I would not call either of them lunatics. Romney in particular is a very smart guy. I don't completely agree with either of them on much but either would be an upgrade. That Santorum bit of this post? Disgusting. Yeah it really pisses you off that somewhere in the wide world out there someone might have a different politcal viewpint than yours dosen't it. But then again you posted you don't really consider them people so... For what it's worth it pleases me to no end you find my opinion disgusting. I must be doing something right then.
  3. No I don't think Iran or Syria should be invaded. The only reason I could see invading Iran would be if a nuclear weapon they created were to suddenly go off in a US city. Even if it were delivered by a terrorist group, all bets are off then. But short of that, no. I was opposed to invading Iraq in 2003, I was opposed to intervening in Lybia. But. GWB never asked me what I thought so... By the way, don't pick on Canadians, they'll be running things before too long: http://outfront.blog...ext-superpower/ Doing pretty good eh?
  4. Federal cases of ID are unusual but if it comes to that this will be one of them They are talking (right now it is just talk) about using the lands along Cold Creek & the Hatchee River south of Fort Pillow park as an extended flood plain for when the Mississippi overflows. There have been no notices or news of court orders but when I got home from Mexico there were survey stakes on my property that were not there when I left. The whole thing has me very nervous. The Obama admin has not been shy about using ID out west in Colorado & Utah. Anderson-Tully is state land but the Hatchee River Management area (which I could throw a baseball into from my front porch) is federal land and flooded pretty badly last year.

  6. I have none in either of the main Republicans. In fact I dislike them both, one more than the other. But I do have a very personal interest in Obama not being re-elected. And it is not just being opposed to his politics (you can bet I am). My home sits on the border of a Federal Management area and is a potential target for an imminent domain land seziure. The current administration has been more than heavy handed in dealing with property owners when it decides it wants their land. I (and the other land owners) do not have the means for a protracted court fight and small chance of prevaiing if we did. I don't know if either of the alternatives would be better but you had better believe they won't be worse.
  7. That will never happen. It's starting to look like Romney may be forced to choose Santorum as his running mate if he is to get the nomination at all. This is going to be a bloody mess. Obama is vunerable, beatable, and the repubs are making a huge botch out of it.
  8. Nice win last night. The Leafs are a mess. The Caps managed to pull it out against the Isles so they stay one point back. Every game matters, every point, every goal, every faceoff. This is the best part of the season.
  9. 'fraid so. The biggest problem in the world today, in every country and clime, is that humans are just not capable of leaving the other humans alone. 'specially Americans. Ironic this comment comes from a guy in Europe where there is not a square centimeter of soil that has not been muddied with blood at some point because one bunch of f***ers tried to rule over a different bunch of f***ers. . Don't be a moron, Guard Dog. Europeans shed blood for good reasons in the past. Today, there's no reason to shed blood anymore. The Imperial times are over, there's plenty of food and wealth in the Western world. The US invades countries and murders people for no good reasons whatesoever (War on Terror; National security etc. my ass). Meanwhile, an US soldier kills 16 Afghani for no good reason whatsoever. The US has become a national security threat for the world. Ah gotcha. You're saying that because one guy went nuts who happens to be an American and shot a lot of innocent people that he is a representation of the US as a whole. You know better than that. As for the US invading other countries for no good reason, other than Iraq I can't think of one. Unless you are referring to France in 1944, Italy in 1943 maybe you think there was no good reason for those but I think everyone else would disagree. Or are you saying we should not even be in Afghanistan in the first place? If so I might agree with you there. We should have left once the Taliban was driven from power. There was a good reason for going, not so much for staying. Nation building is turning out to be a fools errand. Speaking strictly for myself I'd like to see the US adopt a latter day version of the Monroe Doctrine that includes the immediate termination of foreign aid to any country not in North or South America or the surrounding waters. Don't get me wrong I do not think we should pull out of NATO or abrogate treaties with Israel or Taiwan or others but apparently we're wasting our time and money in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
  10. Santorum has won Alabama & Mississippi. And it just goes on, and on, and on....
  11. Cats & Leafs tonight! I have a beer in one hand and the remote control in the other. Cats need a win, the Caps are breathing down their necks and the Jets are not far behind.
  12. Thats nuts. I transferred fo Florida Atlantic from Miami Dade Community College, I didn't have to do anything like that. But... FAU is definitely not Rutgers. Good luck!
  13. Do you have to write that as part of an application for admittance?
  14. Now reading The Illiad & The Odyssey. I've always meant to read this for myself and I've finally gotten around to it. I'm over 1/2 way through The Odyssey. I'm finding it slow going (the Iliad was rough but this is much better) but I am amazed the affect these stories have had on western language and culture some 2800 years later.
  15. I'm starting to wonder if that has turned out to be a fools errand after all. If left to their own devices I don't think Afghanistan would be a country so much as a loose collection of tribes. From what I've been reading they really don't have anything resembling a national identity.

  17. Ironic isn't it! I wouldn't worry much about Santorum. First I don't think he really believes what he saysa because his history in the senate and house before is sort of middle of the road. I think he's trying to define himself as notRomney to try and reassemble the broken neo-con faction that GWB rode into office. Nobody loves Romney. I know I don't. But everyone agrees he can win and most are taking the pragmatic view that a big government republican will be less onerous than Obamas brand of big government liberalisim. And Romney can win. Second, Santorum cannot capture the nomination on his own. But he can screw the whole thing up for everyone if he's petty enough to do it. The sad thing is, if he does get it I'm voting for him. Obama and his authoritarian vision of government scares me to death. Not for nothing Hurlshot, why do you think private firearms sales have increased by 400% in the past four years? I literally do not know a single person that does not think there is a possibility of some kind of schisim is in the coutry's future. I hope and pray it never comes to that but we are coming to a point where there are two different and mutually exclusive visions of where the country goes in the future. Either one side submits, we part company, or we fight. On a different note try to read this one without your head exploding: http://freebeacon.co...nds-like-these/ *Note that site is not what I'd call a legitimate news site, I'm posting it here for entertainments sake,
  18. Splash a little whisky in that tea! It won't solve your problems but it will make them seem easier to handle. If that doesn't work after the first cup or two I'd suggest you try a third or fourth cup. Sooner or later it always works.
  19. Tell me if this seems a little selfish. It is now mathematically impossible for any candidate other than Romney to capture enough delegates to win the nomination. The very best Santorum or Gingrich could hope for is to prevent Romney from capturing enough delegates to win the nomination before the convention in August. That will lead to a brokered convention with all three candidates so damaged it's concievable none of them will end up with the nomination. And even if one of the three ends up nominated their campaign funds will have been utterly spent just to get that far with just sixty days before the election and no money to spend on actually campaigning. Plus a delegate fight on the convention floor may leave such a bad taste that the nominee may not even have the support of their whole party. Don't get me wrong, they will not support Obama (I'd rather be eaten by ants than vote for him) but enough may vote for a 3rd party just to make a point. This scenario has happened a half dozen times over the years and the candidate that emerged lost in the general election every single time. So it is impossible for Santorum or Gingrich to become President at this point and their continued fighting will only help Obama. If they truly believe their own words that Obama is damaging the country you'd think they would put the interests of the country first and drop out. They have both said they are going all the way. That is selfish to me. Just my $.02

  21. That's it, I'm screwed. I haven't had a good nights sleep that wasn't alcohol induced in ten years. I kid of course but insomnia used to be a real problem for me and I was self medicating with bourbon for a time. A little while back it just stopped being a problem. Look at it on the bright side though Hurlshot, if you are awake when Putin comes to get you at least he won't take you by suprise. This thread was about something along those lines right?
  22. Nice! Japan is a very cool place. If you can stand the traffic in and around the metro areas at least.
  23. Ugly, ugly game tonight. With Tampa and Winnipeg getting hot and Washington still hanging around the Cats cannot keep laying eggs like they did in Philly.
  24. There was never any danger of losing the house or anything like that. Things got a little scary when AT&T laid me off a few years back but I was very fortunate to find work quickly and I've been smart with money ever since. My mortgage and electric, dog expenses and health/car insurance are my only bills. The job is as safe as it could be. They won't let us carry but we do have armed security on the job sites. Plus I believe all the right people are "encouraged" not to bother us if you know what I mean. But it is worrisome, at least a little. George Norry almost got himself kidnapped in Cabo. http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/103322/ktrh-talks-to-george-noory-about-scare-while-trave
