  1. Polls in Ohio & North Carolina are now closed
  2. Not realistic. An actual US Senator would never trouble themselves over nebulous concepts like good or evil. And if the thought for a second power wasn't worth any cost they wouldn't be running for senator.
  3. This is just awesome! 4. Current KKK leader is endorsing Hillary Clinton and her "secret agenda". Ooooo.... secret agenda! Sounds very conspiratorial. Not that any endorsement from anyone like this should be taken seriously. Unless of course you are a member of the news media and the endorsement is for a Republican. But I'm posting this purely for it's comedic value: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/12192975/The-KKK-leader-who-says-he-backs-Hillary-Clinton.html
  5. Some forums are easy to get banned from.
  6. Wow the Mets are showing Ruben Tejada the door. This Mets team is going to have a new look to it: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/167542092/mets-place-ruben-tejada-on-waivers
  7. If I recall correctly, wasn't Wade Boggs a participant? Wade Boggs played 3rd base for the Red Sox, Cal Ripken played third for the Red Wings. Boggs went 4-12 that night with a double. There were a few others that got to the majors but those are the two biggest names that played that night. You should check this book out. It's really interesting.
  8. What the Padres did last year was push all their chips into the center of the table and try to draw into an inside straight. It's a tough thing to come back from but there is still some talent there. If they were in a different division it would be easier but with the D-Backs no reloaded and the Giants and Dodgers fighting it out for first it will be tough. But at least you get 19 chances to beat up on the Rockies.
  9. Ah Jimmy, signing about the life we all wish we had led!
  10. That was the one thing we all agreed on!
  11. There is a great line from an old Jimmy Buffet song "Don't try to describe the scenery if you've never seen it" After 14 years and well over 100k words of text if you don't know MY opinion on the state of affairs here... I don't know what more I can say!
  12. Not even a little bit!
  13. Me too only swap Peanuts for Bloom County. I was happy to see that making a comeback by the way.
  14. I never thought of you as an avid reader ....living out in the wilderness, having no creature comforts like electricity and paying homage to primordial earth spirits Do people generalize about people like you and assume you are what I suppose is a redneck, do they assume you are not informed of current events for example? It must be fun taking them apart with your impressive knowledge of many things I am always either reading a book (or two) or looking for my next one. I have well over 1000 on my shelves here and about 150 or so on my Kindle. All kinds. From Wheel of Time to War to Peace and de Tocqueville's Democracy in America to the one I just mentioned in the Election thread. I even have a few rare collectibles in the mix. I'm an educated man Bruce. I drive a pick up truck, and I live in a house way out in the sticks. I'm adept at firearms and farming that's true but I can also speak in complete sentences most of the time. I'd hope I make the correct impression on people I meet. Yes, did I not say you are very well informed. I hope I didn't offend you ? Trust me, you didn't.
  15. You should try either Woodford Small Batch Reserve or Knob Creek Single Barrel. Woodford is the best sipping whiskey I've ever tried. Smoky with a clean finish. It'd kind of expensive but what the heck.

  17. Actually Mexico is one hell of a mess. I worked there on and off for almost a year a little while back. Once you get down into the central and southern parts it's not so bad but the north is almost totally run by the drug lords and the government answers to them. The company I was working for made regular "gifts" to one of these a------s or another regularly just so we would be left alone.
  18. Why has no company ever made a true all-in-one multi-mode radio? WI-Fi/Internet with Pandora, I <3 Radio, Sirius/XM, all the usual as well as AM/FM/CB/SW and terrestrial radio scanners and NOAA Emergency? Why has this not been made yet? I'd buy one.
  19. Beer sampling was illegal in CA? WTF? That's half the fun of going to those craft beer fair/festival things they have in Overton Park.
  20. Gotcha! He have to invade Mexico. It was on our to-do list anyway. Might as well get on with it!
  21. GD, how many of these books do you know or have read http://readernaut.com/Vishal/lists/93/ I read Steve Collins "Ghost Wars" a few years ago. It's on the bookshelf behind me right now. I've read several of Michael Lewis's books but not the one on the list. This one looks good: http://readernaut.com/books/0440243904/#. Some of the rest I've heard of, most I've never heard of.
  22. I've recently finished a deep novel and two books about politics. Now it's time for something lighter. Now reading Bottom of the 33rd: Hope and Redemption in Baseball's Longest Game. In 1981 the Rochester Red Wings and the Pawtucket Red Sox of the International League played a 33 inning game. I always knew about it but the back story is fascinating.
  23. I know many of you are averse to reading anything that does not have swords in it but if you have an interest in the current US political climate I recommend reading this: Listen Liberal: Or Whatever Happened To The Party Of The People? by Frank Thomas. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/listen-liberal-thomas-frank/1123105862?ean=9781627795395#productInfoTabs. I've read his books before, What's the Matter With Kansas was a good one so when I saw this reviewed in the Washington Post this week I gave it a look. Thomas goes into some detail about how the Democrat Party went from being the party of the middle class to becoming the party of billionaires, lawyers and campus communists. I am in no way a fan of Thomas's politics (he is quite left of center) but his writing style is very entertaining to read. I got through this in three nights so it is not heavy reading. I bring this up because there is a lot of navel gazing in the media about why so many registered democrats are defecting to Trump. It hits the proverbial nail on the head.
  24. Since Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are not going to be the nominee it's safe to say the next President of the US will be a big government authoritarian who has no respect for the limits of the office or the liberties of the citizens. That's why I've lost interest in the whole debacle.
  25. This whole election is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You are horrified by what you see but can't look away.
