  1. As much as I love mods to games like Oblivion & Skyrim, those body mods and skimpy armors just look stupid to me. I mean seriously is looks like it is f-----g cold in Skyrim. No one is going to wear a bikini to fight a fire breathing dragon on a glacier during a blizzard.
  2. Ok, that's not the way your comment read to me at least, but you understand what I was getting at.
  3. My last Skyrim character was female. I figured is I'm going to spend the next 100 or so gaming hours looking at someone's rear I might as well have a more pleasant view!
  4. Ummm, I've written and deleted at least five sarcastic responses to this but rather than do that I'll just suggest you rethink what you just posted there. I think you'll find... that you will wish you had worded that differently. Maybe after visiting wikipedia. Just a suggestion.
  5. GD how come you have never said that about all my great posts ........waaaaaaaaaaah Orogun just 2 posts made a pretty decent analysis on the motivations and psychology of two comic book superheroes that, for one brief moment, actually made me take them seriously as characters. All the comics I have read and the hundreds of hours of Batman & Superman movies I've sat through never managed to do that. But think about all the exciting discussions you and I have had about topics like Gay rights....that must be on a similar level to Orogs post? I already take those discussions seriously. We talking about comic books here. If you can say something that for one second actually makes me think about a comic book character you've done something.
  6. "Baseball! Outsiders see a ball, a bat, and maybe a bunch of grown men playing like boys. But you and I see much more. We seen nine men on the diamond working together like a fine tuned machine. We see the kid that walked into the stadium an unknown and walked out as a hero. We see the shower of flashbulbs raining down on the field as greatness steps to the plate. We see the hearts of millions stop as that ball takes flight. We do the rituals, we avoid the jinxes, we try to will our teams to victory, We see how a quarter of an inch can be the difference between a routine fly ball and launching one into the upper deck. It can be the difference between shutting down the side or putting the winning run in scoring position. It can be the difference between agony and glory. We see the how every step as a purpose: win one game, win one series, win the season, become champions of the world. And the first step is today. Now lets play some baseball!" Tommy Lasorda Opening day triple header! Cards at the Pirates, Jays at the Rays and a Mets Royals rematch. I know my day is booked solid!

  8. I have a hard time imagining any context in which calling someone a "fat disgusting pig" is a value-neutral statement of fact instead of the nasty ad hominem it is. And attacking a woman's looks instead of their viewpoints is fundamentally sexist. I figured sooner or later you and I would agree on something!
  9. It's been two weeks since I replanted the garden and everything has sprouted now. In fact the Lima beans are well on their way. There is just something about producing your own food that instills a real sense of pride. Even if it isn't actually enough to subsist completely on. But I have enough room to do that if it ever became necessary to do so. But just the little bit I have going is a hell of a lot of work!
  10. Great post!
  11. We start on 20 days leave and we get about 15 days sick leave ? But I seldom take sick leave and I take time off when I work overtime so I normally get about 20-30 days leave To give you context. As a new hire with Hertz I started with 5 days of paid vacation and 5 sick days paid (with five floating holidays). It's based on how long you've been with the company (I bump to 10 vacation on my second year). But at McDonalds etc it's just "oh you want a day off? Hope you can keep your rent going!" Dude thats really bad IMO? McDonalds does not consider itself a long term employment option beyond the executive level or franchise owner level. The majority of it's employees are part time and for the most part are young. They are not going to trouble themselves to put up a competitive benefit package for a workforce like that. Nor should they.
  12. I was going to make a joke about a transgender superhero but DC beat me to it: http://archive.boston.com/lifestyle/blogs/bostonspirit/2013/04/dc_comics_introduces_first_eve.html Are there any heroes into polygamy? Bestiality? Well Aquaman can control the minds of fish so maybe....
  13. Isn't spider man a black teenager now?
  14. Why has there never been a movie or book pitting DC heroes vs Marvel heroes? I can't believe THAT has never been though of.
  15. It doesn't ring a bell
  16. I know you guys probably think I'm clueless on the reality of US politics...its true I know nothing about your tax laws or constitutional considerations but I try to keep very informed about the actual politics and foreign policy The GOP I believe needs this Trump incident to restructure...I predict after the Democratic victory you will see this within the GOP and a new GOP will emerge This is a good thing by the way because obviously the USA needs both parties to continue to meaningfully grow and evolve positively in areas like the economy and political arena . So even if you skip this election I'm confidant the next one you will find candidates you can vote for I have a strong feeling what you might consider to be a positive evolution of the GOP will be seen as an intolerable surrender to the people who actually support the GOP. They are already trying very hard to become democrat-lite and every election cycle where their core voters stay home rather than vote for democrat-lite the party leadership draws all the wrong conclusions about what is actually happening. I'll bet right now the party bosses have no idea why Trump has become the candidate he has. To me it's the most predictable thing in the world. Frankly I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.
  17. I'm with you. I don't want any of these clowns.
  18. I have 1 comic book in my house. Web of Spiderman #1 from the early 80's. Last I saw it was worth about $12. Not a bad return on a $0.35 investment I guess. I was into baseball cards as a kid and I still have a few around. The only one that might be of some value though is Kirby Puckett from his rookie season. I've never checked.
  19. Originally? No not really. During WW2 Superman in particular was but I believe most of the characters around today were created in the post war years. Actually WW2 is one of the reasons why old comics and baseball cards, etc. are so valuable. There was a national effort at recycling to support the war that a lot of printed publications simply did not survive the war. It's scarcity rather than artistic value that makes them a big deal.
  20. Is that the exact model & color?
  21. I found these two on the web that sort of backs that up: http://comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/off-topic-5/do-you-think-that-liberal-or-conservative-readers--1512365/ & http://moviepilot.com/posts/2727040
  22. The folks I work with remind me of the cast of the Big Bang theory once you get them talking about something other than work. Today was one of those days. It started as an innocuous comment I made about Donald Trump secretly being a superhero (like Bruce Wayne). Three hours later I'm watching with my mouth open as everyone argues about the political leanings of the big two Comic Book publishers. So I knew I had to toss that bone into the Obsidian dog pit. So the contention is this: people with a more conservative (in the american parlance) prefer DC comics because the heroes are clearly the "good guys" and tend to be larger than life. The DC story lines are much more good vs evil oriented, and the general tone is more one of individualism and heroism to advance a "greater good". Marvel appeals more to the liberals because the heroes are a bit more morally ambiguous and tend to be portrayed as flawed or complex "every-man" types who suddenly found themselves in the possession of powers. Now I really have little to add on this because I was only into Spider-man and Alien Legion and haven't read either in almost 30 years. In fact I'm not sure the latter is even around anymore. But I am curious what everyone thinks. Do Marvel or DC have a political leaning that can be discerned? And what would be the political leanings of the characters themselves?
  23. I read it will go 200 miles on a single charge now. Seems awful short to me actually. And obviously that will be reduced as weight is added to the car or you are driving over non level ground, which both of you will do. But the no gas thing is nice. And they do look cool.
  24. You don't think the US news media would print an untrue story about a US Presidential candidate to try to affect the outcome of an election would you??? Naaaahhhh that would never happen! Hey, is that Dan Rather over there?
