  1. While not ideal, in a single player game you can still have fun with a gimpy class. Are they fun or a challenge? Or are they bad plus boring? Obviously not an objective rating here.
  2. Hey they passed Skyrim! Man so many games from 2012 and 2013 still on the top 10. 2014 was such a bad year for gaming.
  3. Just to clarify should I expect to get the documentary with the game on release day or at some later date?
  4. I am happy to say this is the last Friday of my entire life I will get home from work and Pillars of Eternity will not be out yet.
  5. Being slaughtered by beetles. Ok roleplaying a character again in a game I have not yet played. Almost thinking of writing a journal just so I can remember my impressions at different parts of the plot.
  6. So Palatinate it is, or maybe duchy palatinate :| I suppose the confusion\problem lays with me, since I have never heard of this term before (all the other ones in this thread are easy, they are the same-ish in my language) so i'd probably just stick with plain 'independent country'. I have no idea what the term means historically, when somebody says 'Palatinate' to me I think of the German Rhineland. I am just saying what it means in this world, to the best of my understanding.
  7. Yeah if this game turns out to be great, Sensuki should get some credit for that. On the other hand if it turns out to be horrible it is all Josh Sawyer's fault.
  8. For good reason. You killed the Beholder, a text message popped up saying 'Beholder dead!', and then you got dropped to DOS. Mass Effect 3 makes fun of that ending.
  9. A Palatinate is a semi-autonomous colony of the Aedyr Empire ruled by a Grafen Palatinate. When Dyrwood became independent it began calling itself a 'Free Palatinate'. The elected ruler of Dyrwood (probably elected by the nobles) is no longer called the Grafen Palatinate but adopted the Valian title of 'Duc' instead, which indicates sovereignty.
  10. Well we haven't played it yet so we have not gotten any evidence to decide the issue.
  11. Well in 1987 I got The Bard's Tale 2 for my 10th birthday. It looked so epic on my monochrome Apple II. I wish I was kidding but my standards were lower back then. I eventually ended up playing a bunch of PnP games as well but since I went off to college it has been only CRPGs. I just remember in 1997 thinking 'damn why don't they make cool RPGs like that anymore?' Then Fallout came out and I haven't thought of those old 80s games since. But man there were two instances, the mid 90s and most of last decade, when I feared the genre had been left for dead.
  12. Ok the hate romance thing was tongue-in-cheek and not to be taken seriously. Chris Avellone just jokes around like that. Don't freak that they are revolted or not showing respect for your game. It was a joke. Secondly wait a bit, hear what people say about it, and don't jump to conclusions. It may indeed have romantic content. But it will not have Bioware-style romantic content.
  13. Man almost a week away. I cannot believe it, I have been looking back at the stuff from the kickstarter and all the excitement of those days is coming back. Can't wait to play this thing.
  14. Amazon lists ship date as 24th for me right now but it is moving up from before.
  15. We will probably see all the first impressions going up on Monday.
  16. Alright then. We will start looking for reviews then. Maybe we can post twitter links about the game until then.
  17. Sounds good. Quick survey on Google looks like there is not anything up yet. Not even a 'hey I got my review copy today, I will let you know what I think soon'
  18. Bump. Please tell us about your character. Or at least don't make new threads about that post them here!
  19. So you only like NWN2 and not KOTOR2 or The Stick of Truth or FO:NV? Or do you mean the opposite, that it has a ruleset too close to D&D?
  20. Maybe I do not get the distinction. I very rarely ever pickpocketed for this reason. It was not needed except in very rare occasions but it was incredibly overpowered and broke the game. I very rarely see an implementation of this ability that is not like this. It should just be for pilfering a ring or some coins or something, so a rogue class has some nice extra money. I just do not understand the point of having a feature that ruins the game when used without even exploiting. Man it gets really stupid in the Elder Scrolls series. You can "pickpocket" people's clothes off their back. Bethesda is in Maryland and I presume they speak English there and know that 'pickpocket' does not mean literally stealing everything with pockets. Now this does not hurt me at all, these are all single player games so I am not forced to use stupid broken mechanics. But in my mind it was bad in the IE games.
  21. Odd. What is the huge difference between PoE and the other Obsidian games?
