  1. I really like the point he makes on the dumbing down of the game with the example of selling items. Even in old school BG, compared to later classical rpg's, it seems that rare items are becoming less valuable. In BG That ring you find for your wizard in the bush outside the friendly arms inn, and the first +1 item you get is fantastic, you can nearly keep that the entire game. Some of the items you'd get you wouldn't sell, even if you were not going to use them, just feels like a reward having them. In rpg's today, you sell sell sell.... ****, in divinity:original sin, I sell soo much junk, its not even funny. I do not like level requirements, that makes no sense to me, I also wish in rpg's today, you had a great crafting system. I would like to be able to craft a scarf, a necklace, rings, boots, belts, pants, and choose the colors, tints, general look and style, and be able to select small changes to its stats. nothing game changing, but being able to slightly modify stuff would be nice too. I also think you should be able to wear more accessories. I LOVED torment for the fact you could ACTUALLY wear an earring. like **** yea, finally..and then..never again WTF!@# I also love Skyrim and have played like 2000 hours of it, and haven't yet gotten too far in the main storyline... havent beaten it yet. I like adventuring in it. Course im lvl 50 now... but I do love just wandering around and exploring. Its a simple game though, not much of an RPG unless you think of it as a weak RPG. Tactics in POE are ...IMO pretty decent, Im only starting to learn. At first, I couldnt even win a fight easily using the AI, until now, I challenge myself to master encounters by targetting the enemies weakness's, like when you play dnd. But, doing that on easy, is too easy. playing the game - on a setting that describes you, really is what you want. Casual is casual. But if your going to concentrate, think about the game while your trying to sleep and can't wait for the next patch past 392... like me, then you want to keep trying new things and playing on harder settings. even though the xp doesn't increase, or the rewards are minimally increased, its feels good to survive. Its feels like an RPG. I want so badly for POE to become this next big franchise that never steers away form the true heart and intent of RPG(classicwise), I really do. I also want it to become modern in many things too. Im really excited about PoE, but won't discuss much of it here in this thread, as its in the wrong section.
  2. This would be new and original and be very fun. Like maybe they hold the spell until released, and do nothing else until told to.
  3. The background, sometimes looks like something from 3-4 generations of games ago. And the game is not large at all right now, being only 1.8Gb is nothing to download. Give me this 25GB download so I can see if it has something that is even considered high resolution.
  4. You can enable per character stealth by only having that selected character highlighted, no? And you find the stealth mechanics working to some degree ? I find them horrible. Without any real way to determine how good of a stealth character you are.
  5. But the thing is, the background only really needs a higher resolution. Surely they can do that, no ? I wish to know if what we got , as beta testers was simply the lowresolution version. I played the game at 1080, and its the same effect, only the characters now as less detailed compared to the background, thats the only difference.
  6. click on these photo's to see how this games look scales with higher resolutions and graphic settings.. It is my opinion that something needs to be done to help this, because it takes away from the game. It looks okay on a 1080p laptop screen, but going higher it starts to get ugly. especially if you use something 50-60 inches thats 4k. Then its retarded stupid how ugly the game looks. I dont know other new titles that do this. Wasteland 2 doesn't do this, it actually scales pretty well graphic wise along with all character actors and walkable mesh. the grass looks like 8-bit theatre meets 4k resolution the models semi disapear behind very bad grass graphics here the grass overlapping the feet the table and lamp look like 16bit graphics from super nintendo rpg's its immersion killing, to constantly see a HUGE difference between the characters and the environment , not to mention everything in the background looks greyish and fake and ghostly and unbelievable. compared to how sharp the character is, even the fireplace looks dull and less bright then a character. characters seem to float with no transition on steps or any shadows included this should be noticeable to many, how the character seems to scale with graphics well, and then the background just looks horrible in comparison. This is RIGHT at the corner of the bridge infront of the windmill. These graphics on highest possible settings make the game look WORSE not better. There needs to be a higher resolution background, or people playing at anything 4K or higher are going to be affected by bleak greyish shadowy backgrounds. It reminds me of playing FF games on nintendo consoles, where the characters were drawn neatly and were placed on very generic backgrounds.
  7. ..by the looks of it, we will not even get it this winter. Its less then 24 hours from newyears, and the last beta that came out was still a ways off from being close to release. At the point of its functionality for say, wasteland two, its like comparing a beta from march to what was needed to release in september. I think Pillars of Eternity should work on Polish and bugs and release sometime in the late summer or fall by the looks of the bugs stacking up. In the beta, the game is still relatively broken, from my experience. But on a side note, the game does appear to be very large, and I expect it to take 60+ hours to finish for those who are non-completists, and for those who are, well... probably like 100 hours. If you know what you are doing and go straight for the ending, apparently the game is like 40 hours long. So theres tons to work on. In the beta we have like what.... 5% of the games quests maybe, and like 25% of the content available, minus any story driven elements, which it spoils none AFAIK.
  8. I second this, in fact many of the descriptions for things are unclear. It would be nice to see a Meta Game information on them, i.e what the tangible benefit is, and as well as what it is required for, or leads to. Also, an option to see what is NOT available too would be nice, and their prerequisites.
  9. I have crashed many times on levelling up. Its seems I never crash when I know what I am going to select, but if I wait too long on the levelling up screen, it crashes.
  10. On my screen whats worse is they THEN start forming up besides eacother and go OFF SCREEN where I can't access them, and only hitting escape will bring them down. The issue then is, the next time I open something its off screen.
  11. Well, I recruited to the 6th character slot, instead of killing one of the five off. The sixth does however overlap with the HUD in the UI and cause other concerns and issues.
  12. I found out how to type some stuff into the game console, and then I found out how to transport myself to anywehre i want. to get inside the inn, I type this : AreaTransition 2 1 This pretty much helps me get away from any bugs I have been getting on area transitions. I also think having 6 party members bugs the game some how.
  13. sooo that crazy purple green dragon the final boss ?? Looks insane considering we'll be level 8 or something at most. Or level 13 with an expansion.... The low levels is whats going to take away from the longivity of this game IMO.. anyways, how do you get the x,y,x tag of something like, if I wanted to move myself to map x at position x,y,z or do we always have to use waypoint_A_1 as you state is off the map.
  14. Was wondering about this, its weird but sometimes it shows 2-3 then shows 4 then shows 2..so confusing
  15. I have the egg quest, AND actually already got the egg. You can see it in my save game if you like. I also noticed that depending on the transitioning points I take from Dryford wilderness to the town, I will end up unmovable in a different location. But it follows a direction. If I move and transition one spot more south on the map, I will end up one more spot east on the town's map, its goes clockwise, and proportional.
  16. Thank you very much for the assitance. in worst case, someone here can just load my saved game and see if it works for them. I even tried changing my resolution. All my drivers are up to date too. I lowered the game to 2560x1600 cause 4k was retarded to play at. but anyways... Yeah, except the game is sooooo awesome you can't help playing it anyways. So, what I was able to do, while playing it and various builds, was see many locations on the world map, but I think this was when I updates an older saved game and ran it in the newer patch. I then noticed Dryford crossing is no longer there, nor are any of the other cities and keeps. I think something was bugged but I can't seem to reproduce it now. I deleted those saved games, and now wish I didn't.
  17. Thank you so much for assisting me on reporting this guys, but would you please tell me where I can find this save game folder, I've looked and I do not see anything to do with PoE in my documents, nor do I find a savegame folder in the game directory where it is installed. I have also at this point uninstalled and re-installed. I also always assumed it was 100% cloud based save, cause every time I uninstall/reinstall all my saves are still there. okay - with some searching I found it. Folder was in "saved games" in my documents. Then it had a folder called Pillars of eternity, with the xxx.savegame files. savedgame before transitioning. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f3ij05l3qsx3h6t/2d63c760f9ed4047beb222731ed696cd%207963857%20StormwallGorge.savegame?dl=0 log file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gmvwxsouivfunm4/output_log.txt?dl=0 Dxdiag: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2foqj5n45y8mtds/DxDiag.txt?dl=0
  18. in this latest build, I'm also do not understand why they removed Dryford crossing from the world map. I can still go there, by going underneath the broken tower/secret temple, but its not on the map. I also can not transition from any map anywhere. Is there a way to see why mine is different then other people ? maybe its an isolated bug ? Me and my friends all have it. I can't guess what we have in common either.
  19. Without being able to easily travel from one area to the next, or even at times inside a building from the area, the beta is more unplayable then any build before it. Not everyone is having the same issues, some people seem to go into building and out fine, or can load a save, sometimes it even works on dryford x but mostly, it just crashes, stalls, or becomes unplayable. This should be fixed quickly, since its the holidays, and many people will be playing the beta. Otherwise you go two weeks, making the game look bad. (Which is a shame, cause its really awesome.) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=363626865 If you look, I'm off the screen. I could upload dozens of places I load off screen, but I have yet to load ONTO the screen where I can interact. BROKEN BETA FOR XMAS OH JOY.
  20. I've never had to disengage from combat yet, and I am playing on normal. My characters are all level 9 now. I started off asap hiring another character though, to wield another bow. My main is a wizard. I pause every 3-4 seconds max. I can for the most part play on path of the damned, but I had afew times where my characters endurance would get low, so I thought to play on normal mode, where I can steam roll everything. Ive killed mostly everything before they get to even attack me. This may be concerning, but I am also very experienced at playing this sort of game and maxing out my potential, even min/maxing. BUT it does mean, normal difficulty can be a flawless breeze. If you find yourself disengaging alot, try sneaking into combat, try being tactical, give room and sigh for the ranged characters, sneak up behind with the back stabbers, and focus fire and use AoE properly, and pause every action until you get it perfect.
  21. I get the same issues from anywhere to back to dryford village, even attempting to return from the hidden underground temple. Or it teleports me into some random mesh and I can't move but I see the characters still running.
  22. Same, and I have 11 mechanical on my rogue. Can't interact in anyway I know how.
  23. I agree this is semi immersion breaking, not being able to have portraits that match the character, when your making the character look like the portrait. The other way around is forgiveable, haha Along this note and speaking of Models.. one chain mail from another some times differs. theres on dress r such that has REALLY cheap LARGE chain links that look really stupid and cartoonish whereas many look fine like in this photo. Its like somone cutomised the 3d map themselves or did it on a much lower resolution, or intended the chain links to be as if they were 4inches in diameter and made of silver colored toy plastic
  24. My paladin, after a load, will continuously keep casting his Aura as if it needs to be cast over and over...he won't move or accept any other issue. This effectively breaks anym game with a paladin if you are ever going to load a game, from autosave or normal save.
