  1. Except for the usual graphics-, animation- and features-updates, KotOR III needs another mini-game to make it feel more fresh. I suggest (with FFVII as inspiration), "Gizka-racing". Every planet will have its own racetrack and you can breed diffirent kinds of Gizka's for these individual tracks (Like Stamina, Speed and so on). Of course there's a whole lot of betting and gambling with the Exchange involved, there should even be a sidequest where your best Gizka is kidnapped and held for ransom. Due to their small size, you can have 15x15 squarefoot area in your spaceship as a stable for your own little racing-pets.
  2. The development of KotOR III is apparantly on hold since Lucasarts suffered from financial problems, so don't get your hopes up. Hopefully, the sales from Battlefront, Republic Commando, KotOR II and Episode III will make the situation better.
  3. Hmmm...perhpas you're right. I mean they have to be 'charging up someone's loading ramp' in order to get young mandalore's in the first place. I wonder if they're warriors as well, or just regular females.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mandalore's wife: -"Remember to take out the trash this time before going for a journey!" Mandalore: -"This is beneath me, i'm taking part in a battle that can change the fate of the galaxy and you want ME to take out the trash?" Mandalore's wife: -"Yeah, yeah. You said the same thing the last time, and the time before that. NOW TAKE OUT THE TRASH!" Mandalore: -"Yes dear." ^^Naaah, maybe not.
  4. The Mandalorians probably share the same values as the ancient Spartans, leaving the women home as breeding cattle, while the men are out fighting and sharing some manly love.
  5. Why then, because of the ending...? *shock* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are sad moments in KotOR II when playing light side, but tear-dropping? DS maybe...
  6. Chris actually hinted in an interview that he wants to make a third KotOR, with a whole new engine, which would support alot of new options.
  7. Man, are you being particularly stupid today or what? THE PURPOSE OF X-BOX LIVE IS TO ALLOW ONLINE GAMING. KOTOR2 IS A SINGLE PLAYER GAME IN CASE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE! TEHREFORE NO REASON TO GIVE IT LIVE ACCESS! X-Box live doesn't exist to allow publishers and developers to patch X-Box games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed, eventhough it's possible for the xbox to download patches to its games, i do not support the idea of patching games on consoles. A bug-ridden console game should never see the light of the day.
  8. In retrospect, since the thread-starter has already decided to purchase the PC-version, i would like to add that it's 50/50 choice. On the PC-version, i had better framerates, higher textures and faster loading times. On the other had i had widescreen, way better audio-experience(Dolby Digital 5.1 never goes wrong) and the oppurtunity to sit in a nice couch with the xbox-version. My xbox-experience was more cinematic IMO.
  9. I think that quote is from Kreia, explaining the Sith Lords of Korriban, but i don't exactly recall which of them. And making KotOR III, combining a good story and connecting all loose ties to each other and other variables AND leaving everyone satisfied will be a near impossible task for any developer IMO.
  10. One thing that was clawed from the depths of the ignorance in the story of this game was this: That could easily balance it out with two lvl 20+ characters. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't imagine ,as a whole, being uber-powerful. More like really cunning and manipulative, being able to challange the Republic without spilling a drop of blood. But this is highly speculative anyways...
  11. Wouldn't some sacrifice be the same as writing them off? Atleast if they made it much later they could still have performed important acts that have direct influence on the current world, but not be "mysteriously missing" If the ending was so important then why not make it better? " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was implying that they would have to die in the end-battle in one way or the other, or that you have to fight them. Having two characters in your party that are one of the most powerful Jedis/Sith in the Star Wars universe is overkill, even for KotOR.
  12. Oh, come on now. It's a Empire Strikes Back homage, as well as character exploration. I dig that stuff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most definately. I especially love it when you give answers that imply "I take no responsibility", and the response is:
  13. The ending of KotOR II makes it paramount for KotOR III to a direct continuation if its predecessor, not setting 100 years in the future. Also, the only way to go around the problems in KotOR III with the high-level of Revan and the Exile would be that they sacrifice themselves in a great battle, or that you have to fight them in the end. Just writing them off is plain silly.
  14. Yeah, but ESB was easily comprehensible, with a clear plot... and regardless of its darker nature, the good guys were still undeniably good, and the bad guys bad. KotOR II is far too muddy and unclear--not just the morality of its characters, but the entire story. My complaints were not about the "feel" of the game, anyway. They were about the substance of the game, which is something different entirely. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fair enough. Each one has his/hers perception of what is substantially good for a Star Wars game, i like it, and you like it less. Why can't most of people who disagrees with KotOR II's story be able to express their critizism in a constructively manner like you, instead of ranting and raving like kids who didn't all the christmas presents they wanted?
  15. Lets see... I spent my money on this game. This game does not deliver what was promised. This game does not convey the story in a sensible fashion. Horrible endings. Broken influence system. Disgusting item randomization. Enemies with absolutely no decent AI. Impressively small maps with quests that require you to run from map to map to map to map, spending more time loading then actually playing. -- This game does not deliver a remotely bug/glitch free experience. This game no longer has Live support, therefor destroying the chances of getting some kind of fix for that. So, I feel XBOX users were screwed as used as the test monkeies for this game. I'm going to voice my opinion on this until *I* get bored with it. You have four options, in a sense. Grow up and deal with it. Leave the forum. Stop reading my posts. Continue your crusade of defending a game you don't even own. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Man, I used to be that way. Hmm... Well, my suggestion to you is to act responsibliy. No one forced you to buy the game. No one forced you to play the game. No one forced you to be a test subject. Don't like the game, return it and get something you will like. I am not defending the game, just using some common sense. If you feel like you were screwed, well welcome to the 20th century America where getting screwed over is a common place if you are dumb. Next time, be smarter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
  16. I feel sorry for anyone who has to write the story for KotOR III. First are the variables from the previous games: - Was Revan male or female? - Was The Exile male or female? - Was Revan LS or DS at the end of KotOR? - Was The Exile LS or DS at the end of KotOR? - Which npc's survived the events from the previous games? - That's the most difficult part to write IMO. And to wrap it all up, the game will probably be ROTJ of the KotOR-series, good luck to anyone who can write a good story with all those variables included.
  17. thats simply not true. you were told about what happened on each of those worlds as well as your party members. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly, you need to play the end-level again and don't be so eager to kill the last boss that quickly.
  18. On the contrary, i think that Obsidian delivered the Star Wars feel perfectly. ESB was all about self-discovery and that's what this game is all about too. The cliffhanger didn't bother me at all, since it was expected from the very beginning.
  19. Other than facing the end alone, the game-difficulty can be improved. I'm suprised to agree with you for once.
  20. Well I wouldn't say its the BEST sequel out there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't played all the sequels to all games. But no other sequel has made skip sleep, food and social life like this one.
  21. ****Warning! fanboyism will appear in this review**** Today, i finally completed the game, clocking approximately at 50 hours of gameplay. My gaming-experience was filled lack food, sleep and peace of mind until it was finished. Good thing that it's not an 120 hour experience, then it would've been a serious threat to health. Story The story in TSL is, in my opinion, at par, if not greater than KotOR. This has to do with the whole presentation and dark setting of the game, which suits my taste perfectly. While KotOR had that "save the princess and become a hero"-feel to it, TSL was more deep, experimenting even more with morality, and "cause & effect" and "What's the nature of man?". It was not perfectly implemented, but it gave KotOR II a fresh presentation, seperating it from KotOR. Everything had a very sad tone to it, but in good way. Well written Chris Characters KotOR had us all spoiled when it came to characters, so the expectations was high here aswell. Giving T3 some character was another thumbs up, and being able to have HK-47 back is a plus aswell(eventhough i failed to repair him this playthrough, have to do it the next time). In TSL it appears to be less stereotypes than in KotOR, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but Obsidian did a great job here to. The only character that felt useless to me was . My first impression was Kreia was bad, but it all made sense in the end. My favourite was still Visas Marr. Dialogue and voiceacting This is were TSL is superior to KotOR by a long shot IMO. There are more dialogue-options and they can be witty, dark and deep aswell. I've never played Planescape: Torment, but now i fully understand on why it gets praised by its dialogue. Discussions with Kreia, Handmaiden, Visas and even Atton was a bliss to the ear and most importantly, the voiceacting was believable. Even Sion had great dialogue when you fought him in the end (LS options, that is). Villains Thank god! No more three stooges with the "Malak was most displeased when you escaped Taris alive, blablabla", and no more a bully end-boss with a fetish for spandex. These villains had both the appearance and the behaviour of being evil, Sion is simply badass with a real vendetta, filled with anger. Nihilus being merciless and cruel, with next to none humanity. And the third one gifted with the same cunning and manipulation as Palpatine. Writing this down gives me the urge to play it again. Love-interests There's no secret that you could have two love interests this time(Handmaiden and Visas Marr), of which i chose Visas. Her back-story and reason for fighting with you was very touching, and both before if you take her with you at the she will have some interesting things to say to you. The dialogue and voiceacting was simply superb, whoever did that voiceacting for her deserves a praise. The only complain would be that it wasn't as well integrated in the story as Bastila was in KotOR, but the dialogue compensates that IMO. Music This soundtrack is dark, almost pitch black. I expected some more cheeriful and atmospheric title when visiting Dantooine, but even there it was very bleak. A majority of the songs are forgettable but a couple of times they stand out. For those who played it, it was when-you-done-everything-and-has-to-go-back-for-a-certain-meeting. That song in the courtyard suited the situation perfectly, atleast as good as the tune played at the temple summit in KotOR. Another one would be the first time Sion is presented, it felt like you were watching "The Shining", very scary tune indeed. Gameplay Influence, more forcepowers, hoods, weapoons, armor, items, improved workbench, weapon-configurations all work well in KotOR II, there were some glitches here and there, like a broken sub-quest in Nar Shaddaa but nothing major really. But the game difficulty is a mixed bag though. The whole idea of making each individual more easy, and compensating it by adding 250000 more of the same foe isn't my idea greater difficulty-level. Hopefully this can be adressed to the PC-version of TSL, but on the other hand, it never gets boring with slaughtering hordes of enemies with your lightsaber and forcepowers. Graphics Character-animation has improved, when speaking of non-dialogue situations and the levels are in general bigger with alot of detail. In some places you can notice the improved lighting and weather effects. Sometimes it does get a bit choppy though, but i'm used to it from the original KotOR. Loading times wasn't that long either, but maybe i'm lucky to have better dvd-rom to my xbox than most people. Overall, pretty good, but not excellent. Overall In summary, this game is greater than KotOR when it comes to dialogue, voiceacting and sometimes story and gameplay. The new features as influence and improved workbench are not perfectly implemented, but still good. The only problem for me, was that you have to play the ending alone. I wanted to hear some last words by my allies, eventhough i got to know what will happen to them in the future, even to the planets i visited. But i guess you can't have it all, can you? This game is clearly a worthy sequel to KotOR and without doubt the best sequel of the year and my personal GOTY. Well done Obsidian, you've fulfilled and sometimes even exceeded my expections when it came to KotOR II. I'm expecting a sequel soon, the story demands it. -Meshugger
  22. I'm done with all planets, ready to depart back to Dantooine for a meeting.
  23. I'm glad that Obsidian chose not to use the TOTJ-version of the Basilisk, it looks plain silly.
