Should've Bioware Taken The Job For KOTOR II?
Meshugger replied to KotorianRuler's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There is a glarring difference between the story progression of a first person shooter and the story progression of a roleplaying game. He's trying to compare a genre, that is by DEFAULT, simple and straight forward, with a genre that is largely populated with more complex game elements, from character creation, to interaction, to story progression. Any idiot can make a "point" by grabbing one extreme and comparing it to another. If you're going to handicap your arguement with some asinine comparison, at least keep it remotely similar in game genre. Diablo would have been a better choice than HALO, since at least Diablo, by a small minority, is considered a "RPG". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Character interaction and creation affects very little very coming to how a story is told in either two ways: Subtle, or in your face. -
http://www.superplay.se/ gave it a 9. The review is not posted on the net yet.

Should've Bioware Taken The Job For KOTOR II?
Meshugger replied to KotorianRuler's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Don't start until your informed enough to do so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He has a valid point though. He's comparing the approach the games have when telling the storyline, not the genres. -
What a great year of gaming ahead of us

ANOUNCEMENT!! KOTOR III Is On The Way!!!!!
Meshugger replied to KotorianRuler's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Why, because your beloved video game character, Revan got smashed in the opening cinematic? It wouldn't be the first time heros have died in movies or games, and when it does happen, it's rarely ever chalked up to bad writing. It's the easiest way to shut people up about "MY REVAN WAS THIS AND THAT!". They can just say, no, your Revan is dead, get over it and play the new character. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, that would still be the easy way out when you lack the talent to write a proper sequel (I never said anything about playing Revan/the Exile as a lead character) -

That would just be a poor excuse of bad writing. -

man...un-thought out enthusiasm is so nice sometimes. What level did you end KOTOR at? Then in KOTOR 2 they say that Revan took off past the outer rims to battle a threat there. Drawing from EU, there is a nearly uncrossable barrier at the edge of the galaxy, so Revan had to be pretty damn powerful to get past it. Where do you go from here game mechanics wise? Does he start off with just the jedi powers that the average character ended with? Does he have a different generic set of jedi powers? How about the skill points that most players built up? Even if Revan totally took teh exile path and cut himself off from the force they would still have the skills they had worked so hard to learn. Face it, there is no plausible gameplay way Revan could be the main character in KOTOR 3 without either A) being mindwiped....again. B) Suffering Amnesia C) being a character who...IS A CLONE OF REVAN!! All of those suck. The idea of being Revan in KOTOR 3 sucks. I know change is rough, but buck up and start thinking of new types of main characters. cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. If you're to meet Revan and the Exile in KotOR III, the options should be: 1) You have to fight them during the game. 2) Cameo appearances only. 3) Joinable as a party member for only a short period of time (lets say, for one area, letting them to show off how uber-powerful they are). In order to make everyone unhappy, they should have a level that's not at a numerical level. It should only say, i.e. "Jedi Master/Sith Lord: lvl N/A". -
EGM Afterthoughts: KOTOR2 Interview

Heh, i can now understand how Mike Gallo has that position that he has. Avoiding the subject with sequels but still keeping the reader interested. -
How did Mandalore end up in Telos military base?

Those might be the last engines that Bioware do in-house. They recently licensed the Unreal Engine 3.0 for future projects. And about KotOR III, surely there will be one, but who knows by whom or when. -

Sounds like there's more KotOR in the horizon -
Then I think I will enjoy driving my force pike through their heads. Lets see.... whats the best way to humiliate the big baddie? Force crush... How about Force Stun and then insanity... hmm.... How did you guys enjoy killing them? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Force Confusion + Master Speed + Master Flurry was damn funny

Republic Commando on the other hand is really cool. The visor, the squad based combat (much like Rainbow 6 - minus the super micro-managing), and the sound are all incredibly implemented. If you have a big TV and 5.1, crank up the sound, and go at it. It's a blast. Will the final game get stale? Who knows, but the demo is fun as hell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Republic Commando demo has its share of nice gimmicks like the visor, but the level design is like the Library level in Halo and the A.I. is lacking. No point of using squad-based tactics when the enemy is dull.

Most new titles are released on a DVD in europe anyways. Deus Ex: IW, Far Cry to name a few. I see no reason for KotOR II not to follow this trend.

Well Jeff, maybe the 25 that voted "YES" didnt experience any problems. I know I didnt other then occational slowdown, but thats not a game breaker by a HUGE margin. I completed all the quests, didnt have any graphic bugs (other then slow downs), played through it 8 times now. To me "other then ending which wasnt great but wasnt terrible either" the game was as close to perfect as Ive seen in a really long time. Had far less bugs then KotOR1 or Halo. Biggest bug to me in KotOR2 was that POS demo they included with it (gawd that was terrible, even for a no mind FPS game). I hope Obsidian does do part 3 and keeps everything status quo. *missing content (HK factory, 2nd level of telos military outpost) was annoying yes but game was still same size as knights 1 so even tho i wanted the additional content I cant "REASONABLY" complain about it as I would be contradicting myself for enjoying Knights 1 as much as I did. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed, Republic Commando just feels, well "dull". Stupid A.I., so-so graphics and so on. It makes Halo seem like a masterpiece.

I like the ideas about having it as a separate feature. How do the Star Wars d20 handle it? -

Their contributions of **** have been far too numerous to hold them in any catagory of "best thing that happened to gaming". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...and EA isn't guilty of this? Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Golden Eye:Roque Agent, The Urbz, The Sims, Need for speed: Underground, Medal of Honor and countless sporttitles. These games aren't either the best or groundbreaking, more. They actually made one game that i really liked: Clive Barker's Undying.

Should've Bioware Taken The Job For KOTOR II?
Meshugger replied to KotorianRuler's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
IIRC, Bioware had the intention of making one single KotOR and then focus on other projects like Jade Empire, Dragon Age and some next generation console project (I heard something of an sci-fi space opera). It can also be speculated on why your character was lvl 20 at the end of the game, thus leaving no room for expansion-packs or direct sequels. So no more KotOR from Bioware atleast. I'm actually playing KotOR 1 again for some old time sake, and everything feels a bit "meh". Too simple, shallow dialogue and characters (especially Bastila). Thus, i actually hope for Obsidian making KotOR III. Given proper time i think that they have the capability to end the series in a way that would satisfy most fans. -
No matter what ideological ideas, a news channel should not spin facts (blending facts with opinion) for their own gain. What's the point of a news channel telling you only the news you want to hear? Beside from spreading ignorance, i dunno...

Not hard, but timeconsuming. Please check the file-names for each tune on the xbox-image and you'll understand. Not to mention to rip the music from the in-game movies.

Pro evolution Soccer is definately better than any Fifa product. Also, not to mention Metal Gear Solid, Suikoden, Silent Hill and Castlevania.
