  1. Guess who attended a meeting with some Swedes after this game? But no matter, they were good sports without any glee or schaudenfreude. I wished them a nice weekend.
  2. Okay, so that would seem to be almost equivalent to Exxon closing down one of its hundreds of subsidiaries and moving some of the employees to another subsidiary. Not exactly unusual behavior. Usual behaviour is Take Two shutting it down. Since you guys got hung up on the "nu-uh, that's not like that all!"-analogy, let me rephrase it: Exxon has a big subsidiary that does the plant design. Due to failing to live up to the expected ROI, usually some restructuring is done. But instead the head of the whole thing shuts it all down and goes to his garage with his best friends and start designing pressure pumps. Personally, i think that Ken is both a bit of a sociopath and someone with a huge ego that got hurt by those pesky economics guys. I can't tell which part is bigger though. But if it is the results of a backroom wheeler-dealings of an unknown PR guy, i have to applaud that guy's machiavellian move. Check ****** Mate.
  3. What a weird industry. Just to point out how absurd Levine's actions were, imagine the head of Exxon shutting down the whole company, firing almost everyone and then going back to designing pressure pumps in a small garage.
  4. Lies. ...... ..... .... ... .. . It's Nobou Uematsu or Joe Hisaishi that are the Japanese Beethovens.
  5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Finally a love-movie done right.
  6. I missed the game. Why oh why do they have to play these games in the middle of the afternoon while you are at work? //EDIT: Oh well, atleast the USA-CZE and CAN-LET are about to start now.
  7. Well, compared to my grandfather, i am certainly a wuss. The norm back then was to build your own house and start a farm, which he did. Being in WWII probably also made him able not to worry much about the mundane things in life. I think we forgot one thing though: If you were as rude as people are now on the internet, you would get your ass kicked. I am not saying that people are more rude now in general, but back then, they could not hide behind a computer screen. But also, fights were much more common. Heck, they would even be part of the local festivities during the weekends.
  8. That's just...sad.
  9. 1. Kids are way too pampered. Meaning that they are not allowed to fail and learn from their shortcomings, neither are they allowed to experience any danger while playing. Falling from a tree and hurting yourself? Not in this kindergarden. This is direct consequence of people having less kids, which in turn is a symptom of any rich society. 2. There's no real counter-culture. Music is not rebellious, there are no dangerous books and no artists that genuinely inspire fear in parents and idolization in youth. The result is a passive youth that never needed to defend their ideas, physically or mentally. *This is of course in the western world.
  10. The guy is wonderful in QI. Especially when Alan's wisecracking drives him nuts Speaking of being a wiseguy, the only way to troll Oby is to convince him that Stephen is more russian than the other guy.
  11. Canada won fair and square, but boy that guy Crosby never ceases to annoy me. There was point in the game where there was a questionable penalty happening and Selänne and him got into an argument. You didn't hear it, but anyone can lipread 'mother******' when it is screamed into another guy's face, and coupled with that facial expression he had, uuuurgh. It was like watching a three year old not getting his favourite toy. Oh, i do hope for a Finland-Sweden game in the finals. It gets both teams to play to the fullest. I do not mind the Swedes, i do however mind their media. For example, a swede winning something barely and even in a questionable way: "Ååh, va fräckt alltså. Sverige KROSSADE [x], faeeen va sköönt de känns". ( = "That's so bold, Sweden CRUSHED [x], damn it feels so goooood!") Same with finish media, but they wallow in dread and sadness instead, especially when the hockey-team loses to Sweden: "Murskavoitto Ruotselle! Leijonat kyyneleissä! Voiko suomen kanssa koskaan pärjätä tästä?" (="Crushing win by Sweden! The Lions in tears!* How can the people of Finland ever cope with this?") *the team is usually called 'the lions' in finish
  12. Maybe the study itself is a result of elaborate trolling.
  13. Snow Leopards!
  14. A funny troll is one who for example goes to home appliances and electronics-board and suggests that the 4:3-ratio is inheritly better than 16:9, all with made up graphs and whatnot. Or someone going to muslim Jihad board telling that Muhammad really was all about turning the other sheek, again with made up 'evidence'. The best trolls are the ones that indirectly help people to actually think for themselves since they are so accustomed to their ideas that they treat it as dogma.
  15. People will get around that by filing that they didn't achieve orgasm in their partner and therefore they are eligible to a tax-deductible. This ofcourse have to go to the review-board of the local health department, peer-reviewed by an independent doctor and approved by consentual relations administrator with a grade on what rate of satisfaction achieved. This will then be forwarded to the local internal revenue board, which will rate the deductible based on metrics that has been researched in the gender studies department at the local university. The metrics researched at the university is an ongoing project, that is funded by taxpayers money, which is up for review biannually by the faculty board in order to mirror the changes in social and healthy behaviour of society as a whole. Since these instruments exist on a local, state and federal level, we should not easily question the necessity of them since a lot of jobs depend on them. You do not support unemployment on a massive scale, now do you?
  16. Well duh. But they have their place in society, just as in real life. Because once in a blue moon, they can post something really insightful that require people to truly analyze their own position.
  17. As far as i understand it, no one understands the language of Glasgow.
  18. Dawwwww
  19. Well, since i am 1) single, 2) hardly know any women and 3) work in a workplace with almost no women, i wouldn't notice valentine's day if it there wasn't for this thread.
  20. You guys might realize that Sawyer mentioned only romances and absolutely nothing about depraved, loveless sexual encounters
  21. Just look at the profile pictures of Josh, Chris and George. Do they look life hopeless romantics to you? Be happy that they aren't forcing themselves to something like that
  22. It's a way of life.
  23. Oh, it's just that topics like these are boring and i find great enjoyment in undermining them by the best of my ability.
  24. You know "the point"? It's on the opposite side of the Earth from you. In regards to the post I made and the reply. Ignoring that, more than half the people in the US are "health crazy people on the fringe" by your definition. The proportion of Americans who smoke tobacco is about 17% these days. Laws and ordinances going up to prevent secondhand smoke (i.e. you smokers bothering other people by giving them cancer, or with your noxious hobo-like stench,) are constantly popping up in cities and states without fail. Yes, you are being persecuted. It's a tragedy. My point was that as long as people smoke on their own time( no extra smoking breaks ) and their own dime( paying the extra indirect taxes to support their habit ) and without effecting anyone( not in public places) then the vast majority don't give a ****.( You can choke on your smokes in your own apartment and most of us won't care). While the fringe being those who try to convert you from smoking or those who see this as huge scheme by the big corporations. Also this is not persecution, this basic common sense e.g. if farts were toxic, I wouldn't fart in your face and regulation against people who do isn't persecution, but basic boundaries. Why do you even care about such minor stuff when you can just spend time admiring, well for instance, http://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/where/ Or learning to play the guitar, or join the peace corps. The possibilities are endless!
  25. Did you guys know that non-smokers die everyday?
