Nope. Can't say the thought ever occured to me. It would be an interesting twist if he were an alien, though. Too many human Sith Lords out there.....

Are the Jedi based upon the Samurai?
Ivan the Terrible replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As has been said, not a big secret. Eastern Samurai and western Knights were pretty obviously the basis for the Jedi. Though, of course, only in their idealized versions. The real Samurai and Knights were more likely to wack off a peasent's head than ride to the rescue of his village or whatever. -
If we're talking about in relation to the movies, books, comics, and other such stuff, the Jedi win. The Jedi always win in the end...for the same reason the black-hatted Cowboy never beats the white-hatted one in 1950's Westerns, and Snidley Whiplash will never beat Dudley Do-right. If we're removing the context of movies and such: the Jedi honor peace, contemplation, and wisdom; the Sith honor violence, power, and destruction. Thus, in a lightsaber battle, the Sith have the edge because their entire code is devoted towards destroying and conquering, whereas the Jedi only fight reluctantly....if they're true Jedi. So my money is on the Sith.

Questions to Dev's - take 3
Ivan the Terrible replied to Hydrogen's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I can't tell you a whole lot about the schedule. There are many aspects of that of which I am completely oblivious to. I know everybody is working hard. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Answer us this one question, if you don't mind: Why the sudden drop in Developer responses in these kinds of threads? Understand I'm not really complaining; I'd rather have the game sooner than questions asked more frequently. However, it does make me a bit curious as to whether the workload has been punched up a notch recently. Thanks in advance, if you're out there. -
Nope. But the point remains; one need not be seen to have a major role. Sauron never once makes an appearance in the Lord of the Rings (ehhh, the books, not the movies.) Yet, who can doubt he dominates the whole series? Revan can have a major role and never once show up. Easily.

Most Wanted Force Power?
Ivan the Terrible replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As much as I love the fancy powers like Force Crush, I have no doubt the power I'll be using most is Heal....with or without Treaty Injury affecting it. -
Canderous' Alien Encounter?
Ivan the Terrible replied to SmkJaguar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Here's the Star Wars.com entry on them. I haven't read the New Jedi Order series....or any Star Wars novel for that matter....but to me, they seem kinda lame. -
Ehhhh.... I think it's mostly coincidence. And since Invisible War was a disappointment, let's hope that isn't the model for KOTOR II.

Sure you can. In fact, you can have a role and never even be seen; think Juhani's Master Quatra, who never shows up in-game but still sets in motion Juhani's temporary fall to the Dark Side.
-
It would have made the line 'can I blast him now, Master?' rather ackward.
-
Your character does talk. He/she says 'That hurt I bet!' or 'That must have hurt!' (depending on your gender) when you land a critical hit. Their reason for thus not recording Revan's lines might just come down to being cheap, since all-told a speaking Revan would have had more voice-acted lines than any other character in the game by a wide margin.

Who was the most fun killing?

Tell that to Freedon Nadd, Exar Kun, Emperor Palpatine, and Ajunta Pall. -

Buy it for a preview? I think I'd just rent it if I didn't want the movies themselves. -
Yeah, equilibrium. And I get them here.

Imagine Jesus....or the popular image of him, anyway. Now change everything. Voila. That's me.

Romance interests
Ivan the Terrible replied to Sol_Invictus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Depends on whether or not we literally translate between D20 Star Wars and KOTOR. In D20 Star Wars, I'm pretty sure Palpatine is a Level 20 Sith Acolyte turned Sith Lord; I don't have Yoda's statistics, but I'd wager it's something similiar. For the sake of my respect for the series, I would say Yoda and Palpatine were beyond Level 20 in KOTOR terms, if only so I don't have to wrap my mind around the idea of four Jedi on the Ebon Hawk going from level 1 to Yoda levels of power within the space of a few months. So yes, there's room for Level 30 and above, if we take that approach. Now, regularly facing enemies who would pose a challenge for a level 30 and above character in the Star Wars universe is an entirely different story.... -
The mods around here are just like I like 'em; not so wimpy that people just walk all over them and ruin the board, but not so restrictive that genuine topics of interest are destroyed for no other reason than obeying the letter of the law rather than it's spirit. Whenever I have a thread erased/closed or a sig that needs to be trimmed/edited, the reasoning behind it is always explained politely without bullying or threats. I dig that, and give an entirely non-brown nosing salute to this board's moderators. On subject, I would enjoy having a helmet, or some other visible symbol of disfiguration/dehumanization resulting from the Dark Side. It wouldn't really fit Light Side characters, IMHO, though....

Stormtroopers vs Sithtroopers
Ivan the Terrible replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As soon as George Lucas stop pissing all over his original creation in order to make it 'consistent' with the prequels while removing all possibility of getting the ORIGINAL films on DVD, I will be quite happy to do so. -
Stormtroopers vs Sithtroopers
Ivan the Terrible replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Actually, because they aren't what I wanted them to be, I consider them bad movies which I don't want associated with the originals. Nothing more, nothing less. -
Probably been done b4 but oh well

Stormtroopers vs Sithtroopers
Ivan the Terrible replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You asked what the problem was. I explained it. My inability to do anything about it except consider George Lucas to be a self-centered douche is irrelevant. -
Stormtroopers vs Sithtroopers
Ivan the Terrible replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The problem is some of us (many of us, actually) don't like the prequels. We DO like the Original Trilogy, unedited, and without really crappy CGI and piss-poor modern day Lucas decisions mucking things up. If Lucas wants to release his own version, that's fine and dandy for those who want it....but why show such contempt for people who want to buy the original version on DVD? Why can't I have the version that was seen in theaters in the 1970's and early 1980's rather than what I consider to be an inferior redesign? It's not as if there will be a lack of demand for it, so the decision seems to be based on pure ego. -
Russia has a great past....but there are a lot of things Russia should be moving away from. Namely, since the days of the Mongols, Russia has been ruled by petty autocrats and tyrants who treated the country as their own personal fiefdom; while the West was moving towards more freedom in the Middle Ages and Renaissance up to the 20th century, Russia was either stagnant or moving towards less, culminating in the single bloodiest dictatorship in world history under Stalin. That part of the Russian historical heritage should stay dead and buried. No more Tsars, no more Premiers, no more self-absorbed tyrants poisoning the land and enslaving the people in the name of nonsense agendas. After all the pain and misery it's been through, Russia deserves to be a prosperous and free.

The big public ceremony is a must if you're Dark Side. If I've just come to rule the Galaxy, I want to see a throng of my minions, extending as far as the eye can see....Like a Nazi party rally, or (as mentioned above) Saruman's army in TTT. Something like this: Or this:
