may of discovered a part of a plot
Ivan the Terrible replied to eras jast's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No. 1) Early in-game screenshots tend to use old default models. For example, just because the Shardaan facial model is seen on a dead guy in one screenshot doesn't mean he's going to rise from the dead and track you down. 2) From what I understand, they're moving on to a more Empire Strikes Back feel. That means no super-duper-galaxy-dominating-Death-Star-wannabe weapons....I really, really hope, anyway. -
You know what? I really wouldn't mind Obsidian doing KOTOR III, if they do a good job on II. MCA specifically said KOTOR II will leave us in anticipation for a sequel; if the thing gets shunted back to Bioware, they may not do as good a job following it up. However, I would like to see it happen AFTER a third, original Obsidian title is released. Enough begging for Bio table scraps already; after their first two games, Obsidian is almost certain to be in a position to indulge in a bit of risk and make their own game, so let 'em do it, please!

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
Ivan the Terrible replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Getting Bastila into a romance playing as Dark Side is tough, since so far as I know it cuts off if you're too nasty. But then, the entire game runs as a crude parody of itself if you play as Dark Side from the beginning. My solution is to play as Light Side until after the revelation of your identity, and then use that as an excuse to play Korriban (the planet where being nasty makes sense and people react appropriately to it) all the way through as Dark Side. That way, you get the Bastila "lover and apprentice" line AND the story makes something resembling sense. Otherwise, you feel like an actor who's trying to ad lib his lines and gets ignored by the rest of the cast, who stick to the script. "Oh, I'm sorry Master Jedi, I shouldn't have been so rude." "Listen, you twit. I'm chalk-white, have more veins showing than a 93 year old heroin addict, and am dressed in solid black. I AM NOT A JEDI!!!" "Of course, Master Jedi. Visit the Republic embassy since you're on our side." -
Your destruction as a DS character
Ivan the Terrible replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If Obsidian lets me blow up a planet, I shall name my first child in their honor. Then he/she will track them down years later and kill them all for the suffering and abuse he/she faced as a child. (BTW, that's another example of an insidious Dark Side plot rather than a thuggish one.) -
Yes. -Akari <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I happily stand corrected.

How did you always imagine KOTOR 2 to be?
Ivan the Terrible replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Depends on what you're looking for. If you're a visceral gamer who wants awesome graphics and gripping gameplay above all else, it's probably not for you. The game is horribly outdated graphics-wise, never had particularly good combat or game balance or gameplay in general. There are huge amounts of text in the game, so that you'll spend quite a lot of time reading; if you get annoyed by lots of text, again, probably not your cup of tea. But if you like a great story with an almost awe-inspiring amount of thought put into it, you won't find a better game out there. It's my personal #1 favorite of all time. I wouldn't be posting on these forums right now if I had never played it. -

There is but one thing that makes me look forward to KOTOR II far above KOTOR, and it has nothing to do with Force powers, Feats, animations, graphics, or any of that: It's being made by many of the same people who made Planescape: Torment, IMHO the best written game of all time. Everything beyond that is gravy. -
Attack or defence
Ivan the Terrible replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well....as a Consular it usually doesn't matter much, since I have my Strength and Dexterity both at 8 so I can concentrate on Wisdom and Charisma. As such, when it does come to a saber fight, the only real option is defense. -
Attack or defence
Ivan the Terrible replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Offense. I prefer choking the life out of my enemies at a distance with my Dark Side Consular. I personally can't wait to snap an enemy's spine like a twig, ala the Force Crush animation in the trailer. -
I'll answer this and let Akari get back to new questions <_< I already asked this question and the answer was a 'no'- too bad. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A pity. Ah well, I have to admit Dark Side Bastila would have been much less appealing if she were a haggard lump of pale, veiny rotting flesh, so I can't complain too much.
-
Placing bets this won't get answered, since it sounds like press release material....
-
Ok, ok, here's a question: When party members other than you are Force Sensitive and start falling to the Dark Side due to your influence, do they get all pale and veiny along with you?

For the record, we've officially decided to replace all music in the game with the theme song from Shaft. http://jabol.neostrada.pl/mp3/Barry_White_-_Shaft_Theme.mp3 -

I'll leave it at this: Nipple Clamps are an inventory item. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> are they upgradeable? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Amen they are. If your repair skill is high enough, you can make Wookie-size nipple clamps, or even break down your existing nipple clamps for your Yoda-thing fetish. Master Vandar has been a very bad boy. -

Yep. Unlike some people, I'm not afraid to completely destroy people's enjoyment of the game by revealing every nook and cranny of the plotline. -

Everything except the l33t handle. I'm afraid lightsabers in KOTOR II no longer come with handles; it's the mark of a true Jedi to be tough enough to hold onto a lightsaber blade with your bare hands and not cry. The Masked Sith is that guy you saved on Taris, Hendar. The lesson we're trying to teach is that helping people is bad because they might go on to do something evil, therefore you should always leave them to get eaten by the Rakghouls. I think that's the message Lucas wanted to spread with the OT. -

Another interesting fact: Lucasarts recently received a massive grant from a certain religious institution, so KOTOR II has been designed from the get-go as a recruitment tool for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Book of Mormon comes free with every copy. -

Nah, you dropkick the box into a pool of lava within the first five minutes of the game. We considered giving you a choice as to whether you wanted to keep him around, but frankly we can't waste precious time designing a choice no one will ever use. -

It's been changed to the stalking feat. You'll be able to creep out your Sith enemies by calling them on the phone and breathing heavily. It's Carth's severed head in a box, magically animated to give you advice. -

Oh, yeah, that reminds me: Bastila will be revealed to be Tim Roth in drag. He was sucked into a dimensional portal that dropped him in the Star Wars Galaxy, and in his resulting insanity he became gender confused. -

Note: In order to simplify Revan's appearance in the game, we've decided to stick with a default facial model. -

We're starting with Force Yodel, which will give your character a deep, masculine voice to ring through the mountains of Switzerland. That's the secondary effect, btw: it instantly teleports you to the Swiss Alps, and gives you full Bavarian costume. Other then that, we've pretty much cut all the Feats. Sorry. -

are you the 3rd sith lord? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, missed your question. In answer: there aren't three Sith Lords. Rather, the secret plot twist is that EVERYONE IS A SITH LORD EXCEPT YOU. Yep. -

Well, technically, we aren't releasing it in the continental United States. Rather, we're releasing it to a test audience in Zimbabwe.
