  1. He doesn't give you a crystal; he gives you a vibration cell. The inventory system is so screwed up that it's rather difficult to tell what he gives you, but according to this guide it's a vibration cell.
  2. Good news; they're fixing that for KOTOR II. The player who goes first is determined randomly. I like to play Pazaak, but I would infinitely prefer it if it didn't seem so slanted against you. I've seen the computer get three natural 20s in a row; that just ain't right.
  3. I've seen some people who love it, and others who hate it. Let's do a little survey.... BTW, by 'busting' I mean driving that Pazaak player until they won't play you for money or cards anymore. I don't think it can be done with Gelrood, but any of the others is fair game.
  4. A question with a set-up: In KOTOR, there was a scene many players felt frustrated by on the Leviathan. Namely, in order to proceed, you had to beat Malak until he was on the verge of death before Bastila jumped in and 'saved' you while sacrificing herself. Given that Malak was painfully easy in this fight, leading many people to wonder why they couldn't just finish him off right then and there, if there are any similiar battles in KOTOR II, is it possible to set them up so that they end when you are nearing death? That way, your opponent could (for that battle) incredibly overmatch you and pummel you into the ground, giving you both more respect for them and making the 'NPC coming in and saving you' thing less forced. Or is it a problem with the game engine?
  5. I'm pretty sure Telos is Republic territory. The Sith blew it to bits, and now the Republic is rebuilding. As such; yep, probably Republic soldiers. And yes, like the U.S. military, the Republic offers free breast enhancement.
  6. Yeah, I know, but the Sith 'cult' on Korriban kinda sucks. Just a bunch of wankers in what appear to be Imperial Officer's uniforms; nothing like I would imagine the Sith Cult under Exar Kun was like.
  7. Actually, neither is okay, given that we've established Annah is a transvestite. Let's leave this stuff to the more creepy Hentai shows, folks.
  8. Revan's Robe for male or female Dark Side. Star Forge Robe for female Light Side and Qel-Droma Robe for male Light Side. Not wearing robes as a Jedi always strikes me the wrong way, for some reason.
  9. This has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but the 25K year old Republic thing bugs me, too. I know it's a tad ludicrous to apply Real World political science to the freaking Star Wars Galaxy, but it's a bad habit I can't rid of and which bugs me in the course of the game. Multi-national countries tend to be really, really unstable. Different ethnic groups want more representation for themselves, want independent countries where their own concerns come first, want to dominate other ethnic groups or avoid being dominated by them. Eventually, the pressure of all that causes them to fall apart, whether it's in five years or 100 years. So how the hell would a galaxy-wide government involving the quarreling and bickering of (likely) tens of thousands of often wildly different species survive even a hundred years, much less a period of time which encapsulates the entirety of Real World human civilization as we know it and then some? What freaking moron out there chose for the Republic to be 25,000 years old, and why? Whoever it was should be beaten with a shovel. Yes; I'll stick with the much more manageable (though still far-fetched) 1000 years, thank you very much.
  10. Is the Foot Clan look any better? I kept waiting for Shredder and Krang to show up somewhere.
  11. Same here. I only learned about the KOTOR time frame (Exar Kun, the Sith, etc.) out of curiosity when I first started playing it. I think maybe it goes into the same complaint category as 'Why do they have the exact same level of technology 4000 years in the past as they do in the Empire?' The answer is obvious: they wanted to give it a Star Wars feel, but the result is lots of fodder for nitpicking.
  12. That was one of the things I disliked in KOTOR. Everything about the Sith gave the impression of trying really hard to be just like the Empire; the uniforms, the capital ships, the faceless body armor, the expendable waves of starfighters. Understandable, given the desire to emulate the OT....but a pity nonetheless. I could understand it for the rank-and-file of the Sith Armada; they are in an army/navy, after all. But when Sith-in-training on Korriban were wearing grey Imperial-like uniforms, that kinda sucked. I was hoping for more of a cult-like feel; the behind-the-scenes rulers with their weird traditions and rituals, directing operations with a dark purpose that they alone are privy to while the common soldiers are not so much malicious and evil but misguided and indoctrinated. I didn't want to see 'The Empire Lite'; I wanted to see more of what set the ancient Sith apart from their modern counterparts after Darth Bane. Agree? Disagree?
  13. Without giving away specific details, will the different planets have a main quest which needs to be 'completed' in the same way as in KOTOR in order to proceed (and in order to trigger in-game events, ala Calo Nord and Darth Bandon)?
  14. The IGN video mentions "a deeper Dark and Light Side system." Anything you can say about that we don't already know?
  15. On the plus side, his record includes Star Wars games from the past. On the negative side, they happen to be the half-assed prequel-tied Star Wars games. Never played them.
  16. Well I'll be a greased Jesus. That is pretty good. To be honest, I haven't been expecting much from the score. I've never heard of the guy, and his record seems limited to lots of game I've never played. This, at least, let's me know they didn't just opt for the lowest bidder, as it were.
  17. Malak lost his jaw to scurvy. He never did eat enough fruit. ....What? Does every little thing in the Star Wars Galaxy have to be based on some dramatic lightsaber battle or something? Scurvy is the answer, and the lesson is that even Sith Lords need Vitamin C.
  18. It can be explain with an ease: They used the force dude! the force! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep. 'The Force.' Full title: 'The Force which allows us to explain away plot implausibilities.' A full-scale battle taking place that close to a star would be rather inconclusive since both sides would be vaporized in seconds.
  19. Speaking of which, wouldn't building a factory right over a star just get you lots of melted ships?
  20. In the real world, I'd say you're right. In Star Wars, if you don't have a cool outfit, you suck. So sayeth the king of style himself.
  21. Seriously. They weren't even 'robes'; they were like a suit painted to look like robes.
  22. Being a Jedi in Power Armor feels pretty lame too, though. They just need to make the robes cooler....as they seem to be doing.
  23. I want to see a weapon that isn't a shameless rip-off from another sci-fi universe. And maybe a saberwhip.
  24. Honestly, I hope Obsidian can make a Light Side-specific ultra-powerful Robe that doesn't make me look like such a wimp. 'Light Side' does not automatically equal 'sissy', regardless of Luke Skywalker and his girly-man scream. I have no objection to Revan's Robes, however.
  25. Hopefully none. Czerka was a rather underwhelming opponent.
