  1. I wanted to ask if an update for the Nintendo Switch version of Outer Worlds would be available for the new Switch 2?

  2. The lair fights suck, I really hated Duriel and Andariel. Then there's the beast in ice which I just...face tank. Finished the SP in Battlefront 2, uh the first one. Frustrating as the AI team mates are useless, but at least the enemies are dumb too.

  4. Gotta give it to AI, its contribution to uncanny valley style horror is considerable.

  5. I personally don't like situations where dialog choices don't matter and there are a lot. No matter you decide help or not, do or not do something. you are forced to click all options in dialogue, go thro them all.

  6. Becoming curious about The Alters - but my fear is there will be too much sense of time or progression pressure for my liking (vs. feeling more freeform). And that I won't be able to tell within the steam 2hr window etc. I'm not sure, still investigating. But sure sounds like an interesting, maybe "higher concept" survival/base/management/rpg. Only a bit over $30 tho, might give it a shot. 7 Days experimental 2.0 is available, sounds/looks like crud. Imma gonna have to mod the poop out of it to make it palatable. Or just skip it. The Fun Pimps really are the UnfunPimps (as well as the can't stick to anything, I'm not sure they ever really play their own game, Pimps) these days.

  7. Apparently the anti-woke thing to do is boast about going to work today. Again, the Internet is a mistake.

  8. I was trying very hard this evening in a discussion not to get dragged into a political argument. Then the other guy said "I can tell you this with certainty. I saw proof on 4chan." I went home to take painkillers after that.

  9. the cern facility is only a bit more excessive than our current setup... not to mention the vulgar oversized outdoor grill on our back patio, a weber charcoal grill, smoker, multiple air fryers (one toaster-style and two basket,) microwave oven, instapot, rice cooker, this and one of these... none o' which makes us near as good a cook as were our grandmother who cooked 99% on a circa 1957 basic 4-burner kenmore gas range. avocado color. HA! Good Fun! ps we got a bunch o' other additional cooking appliances, but they mostly sit in the pantry unused... as well as prep stuff like blenders, food processors and the stand mixer we almost never use 'cause we hardly ever bake.

  10. I was disappointed with both Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. Both games seem to have been designed as a case study for what one could do with a hybrid portable console. Play somewhat longer sessions at home when docked (i.e. Zelda's "larger" dungeons or Odyssey's "larger", more linear levels) and do busywork while on public transport, like getting a Korok seed or two, doing a small puzzle shrine or getting one of the myriad moons. Ultimately both ended up being weaker entries in their franchises, although Breath of the Wild still has the distinction of having really, really good exploration mechanics. That's just not something I care a whole lot for. Edit: That Donkey Kong game made me realize that I would really love a Blast Corps remake, or at least another game like it.

  11. Sadly there are a number of technical limitations and hurdles that would need to be overcome first to do that. Which aren't really possible with the built in modding support, and I'm honestly not well versed in advanced forms of Unity engine modding to know if it's possible at all. The Adventurer Character Object (know as a "prefab" in Unity I think) that all Adventurers share doesn't support being talked to, as it completely lacks a component called "NPCInteraction" responsible for that interaction. This is what enables interaction with companions through the "Talk To x" button and on clicking on an npc. Which will point to a designated conversation GUID and load it when triggered. There is a very hacky way to add the "NPCInteraction" to an Adventurer, and doing so shows the "Talk To x" button. Though it's completely non-functional sadly. As for getting the character to spawn into a scene. I don't even know where to start. The good news is that if someone were to figure out how to get around these hurdles everything else touched on in this thread is already supported by the game!

  12. Arcanum. Never actually finished it. This time, I might -- with a Necromancer Elf that made a pact with the devil. And is as beloved throughout Arcanum (or most of it) as hemorrhoids. PS: I don't want to crap on The Outer Worlds too much. It's not a "crap game". Still: How do you go from this to The Outer Worlds, where perks as exciting and game changing as "+10% to damage" or "+5lbs to carry weight" rule? I have a few suspicious. But still, it's one thing to try to make something more accessible, widespread industry process and no. 1 priority since ca. 2001. It's another to turn it into something as bland and vanilla as frozen burger patties sold en masse at Walmart.

  14. Interesting article from the BBC on why they only cover Israeli hospitals being bombed extensively and it isn't a double standard. All it actually does is give a very good indication of how bad the media coverage is and why BBC Persian is seen as a bit of a joke. Ah, it's all Iran's fault. There is literally no comment about all the Palestinian medical facilities that have been bombed and Israel has restricted access to because it's a bad look for them. That is particularly ironic because this is the final paragraph: Well yes, but not in the way you think. I'd also note that the BBC did not visit and give extensive coverage to all the medical facilities bombed, by Israel, in Lebanon either. Via WHO, and after one month of Israel's attack. There's a pattern there about who's hospitals have value and who's don't, and it isn't anything to do with Israel not practicing censorship.
