  2. I want to have this debate around "does voting matter " because it comes up often in many countries that have free and fair elections including South Africa where we have high levels of voting apathy and low levels of voter turnout compared to previous elections And lets use the US as an example because that's most of the focus on this thread But I just want to clarify that our foundational view is the same and the reason you need to vote in any Democracy Do you think there is a difference between the Dems and the GOP around many policies and also a difference in the presidential candidate around geopolitics? This might seem like an obvious answer and you would assume the response is " yes, of course" But many people believe it doesn't matter who wins US elections, the parties will act in the same way end of the day around policy outcomes and geopolitics but its done surreptitiously I obviously believe there are clear differences around the 2 parties Yes they have some common views but several stark ideological differences and what policies they will implement or try to implement This is the same as almost all Democracies where you find leadership change through free and fair elections

  8. Obsidian seriously has got to start putting romance options in their RPGs. And the secret one in Avowed definitely doesn't count.
  9. Easier said than done. Neither of the existing parties wants competition, so they aren't going to change the funding system to allow more parties. The solution has to be mathematical: change the voting system to a non-pluralistic approach. Allowing people to vote for more than one candidate captures more information about the voters intent, and encourages non-extreme candidates. This approach has been tested in two states thus far (Alaska and Maine) and more cities are turning to this method.
  10. First minor thing. Every time I load up and go to start my shared multiplayer world a message comes up saying that it can’t access the world essentially. I go to main menu and force quit, restart it works every time. This is the ONLY issue I’ve had with this game and it’s very minor, but I’m sure it would be great if it was know as I imagine I’m not the only one. Also, I’m sure methods of travel are highly discussed as the world is large but I thought maybe something along the lines of a candy wrapper hang glider or mini plane etc. would be very interesting and cool to incorporate. this is definitely my favorite game right now and it’s very hard to put down. I absolutely love the concept and idea behind this game. Can’t wait to see what is to come!

  13. This was a really helpful post, thanks for the write up. its exactly the information I was looking for, I'm looking forward to trying these builds out The trickster subclass does look great, thanks you replying! Looks like a really strong option, also from a dps contribution side
  14. Bloody hell Obsidian sucks fat donkey D at patching bugs... still a thing in 2026.

  16. I remember that tactical RTwP game, but not in detail. Shadows Something? MIO, a pretty and infuriating precision platformer I parry-climbed that shaft and there was only a penalty modifer. The general experience in the late-game. Tactical Breach Wizards I put on green outfits for a mission in a desert because I did not know that it would be a desert. Laugh Track Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers Banquet for Fools The Knightling It might look like a gate, but it is, in fact, a wall.

  23. Hi all, I am starting mi first playthrough in this game as a bow Ranger on PoTD dificulty and would like to try making my own builds for MC and companions. I would just like some advice on what talents and abilities are good, some that are must take and so on... What companion build should I go for, like should I build Eder as a tank, off tank or maybe DPS (what is the best role to build each companion). Maybe some team comp which is good for a Ranger. And of course any tips and trick on mechanics of the game, synergies are greatly appriciated. I know I am asking a lot but any help would be also greatly appriciated. THANK YOU all in advance. P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

  25. The combination Unbroken/Wizard is especially fun imo if you are able to cast Ryngrim's Repulsing Visage and Ryngrim's Evervating Terror*. Illusionist covers that (sine both spells are Illusions), but the Enchanter subclass will make you lose access to all Illusions spells, including both Ryngrim spells. Besides that there are also several Illusion spells which provide nice defense bonuses. So I personally would not pick Enchanter. Illusionist would be cool with me, but honestly I would rather pick the Bloodmage subclass because the combination of Constant Recovery and later Unbeding with Blood Sacrifice (get back spells, pay with health) is pretty neat. You cannot use the Empower mechanic then, but in my experience players new to Deadfire forget about Empower anyway (or don't forget about it but try to save its uses for the perfect time - which seldomly comes because you have no meta knowledge yet). ;) Your attributes could be pretty balanced. I woudn't go below 10 with any and put a focus on INT, PER and RES. PER mostly because if you play with official companions, most of them have not very high PER - and PER is what determines whether you discover traps and secrets in Deadfire (NOT Mechanics like in PoE - in Deadfire Mechanics is only for opening doors and containers and disarming traps). INT for your spells and RES for more dialogue options and higher deflection as well as shorter hostile effects on you. If you pick a Bloodmage there's benefit in picking the human race - because you can regain spells with health (Blood Sacrifice) you might get bloodied in the process. You can use that to unlock the human "Fighting Spirit" passive (higher accuracy, more damage output). If you pick Illusionist it's not that important which race you pick imo. There's a cool and rel. early large shield for a Battlemage spoiler: name of item which scales some of its defensive enchantments with Athletics (active skill) and Metaphysics (passive skill). It's best to skill those two from the beginning if you plan to use that shield. But you could also retrain with some money when you find it and decide to use it. )* the reason is that both spells terrify enemies. And terrified enemies will crouch down and move around randomly, potentially triggering free disengagement attacks (if you had engaged them in the first place). The Unbroken has paritculary strong disengagment attacks to that's a nice synergy.
  26. The mere act of casting votes is certainly not of itself a good thing. If there's no real choice it simply acts to grant legitimacy which hasn't actually been earned, which is of course why a lot of authoritarian countries still hold elections. If you look at the last US Presidential election, which Trump won handily, the proportions were: Harris ~31% Trump ~32% Didn't Vote ~36% ie ~2/3 of people in the US didn't vote for its President, and more than 1/3 either didn't like either candidate enough to vote for them nor dislike a candidate enough to vote against them. Not exactly healthy. (Really, the Roman Republic model was an awful one to choose if you wanted proper (little d) democracy since it started breaking down as soon as Rome stopped being a regional power; and along similar lines as you see in the US. Probably better than Athenian Big D Democracy at least though; nothing quite as unique in history as stampeding voters into voting to execute all your- victorious- admirals, rejecting peace and then losing the war spectacularly a year later)
  27. You say all this but make Outer Worlds first person even though it gives me motion sickness!
  28. So how would you suggest political leadership gets decided in any country? Or are you only talking about the USA?
  29. Wizard subclasses are fine if you look ahead and see what spells you're locked out of. You can always cover locked spells thru a companion/adventurer. But if Illusionist is what you wanted, a trickster Rogue for multiclass gets several Illusion spells for free that cost Guile to cast and you have all the base Rogue abilities that can debuff enemies. It's only a 10% downgrade in sneak atk dmg compared to no subclass. Rogue and Fighter both have options to displace themselves/enemies/allies and between Fighter stances and Rogue passives, you can contribute dps easily. Skills are gonna be whatever you prefer. Athletics is a cheap heal option, Arcana if you want to use scrolls to get more of the battlemage vibe. Explosives can be nice on a Fighter because they get buffed by the hit conversion bonus they get so soon.
  30. The fencing should be improved so that we either have half pieces or you can just do place many and it will fill the space you need it to.
  31. No subclass or blood mage is way to go bro. Trust me you ll be upset when you cannot cast some good spells later in your run if you go with that subclasses.
  32. The absence of regular voting is worse. Having said that, the American political system is a bit of a joke. They should break up the two party system into smaller constituents like they do in anti trust cases, and institute proportional representation just for starters. An anti corruption drive is also sorely needed. by 'drive' I probably mean purge. Lock the worst offenders up and scare the rest straight.
  33. holding vote regularly have no intrinsic positive value roman senate have no moral highground compare to pretty much anyone
  34. I don't like Radahn, not the regular game Radahn or the promised consort. Design wise, he's just weaksauce. I did beat him though, I think I used a shield nerf build so I didn't have to jump and roll constantly.
  35. On the topic of mages, it would also be fun to see one handed mage weapons, a little less damage, but being able to still hold a torch or even a shield would be nice
  36. I don't think it's very note worthy that the Supreme Court blocked the tariffs. One thing they've been consistent about during the Trump regime is not letting Trump and the rest of Jeffery's old friends **** with the money too much. Sadly, and I really hate to say this, Trump is right in a way. The supreme court has already ceded power and immunity to him specifically; the carveouts for ecobomic stuff like tariffs and the Fed are not consistent with the logic of the unitary executive the court has used to authorize his power. Honestly I find it more contemptible than if the reactionary judges were to go in whole hog as it just shows the bankruptcy of their position, ie being ruled by a king is fine until he tries to crash the stonks.
