Sitting here waiting for my video-recording HD to defrag....and was thinking about my favorite npc's in the game. Most of the them don't get a whole lot of "screen time," I know, but anyway....

...despite the decent chrs. that are Odo, Martin & other main quest ppl, my favorite has to be Phineas. I don't know why...but I really liked his involvement in a few quests, the voice-actor, and the animation sequences he had (eg the swamp root bridge casting). In the mines, where you "defend" him while he's doing his casting mojo work...fave assignment bit in the game. Felt like I was actually doing something to help someone beyond fetch & carry. Wasn't a hard situation or anything, I just liked his chr. & his bit quests I guess. Plus for bonus points he made me chuckle, because every time I looked at him I kept wanting to say "Hi Daniel, how's it shakin!" (he reminded me of the actor from SG-1 series...).

...the dapper old gent was pretty cool too. Nice aura of tragedy & all that.

Really liked the Dapper Old Gent and think that dialogue (after the fight) with him was my favorite convo in the game. His voiceacting was also well done.

Sigismund Wulf was also good as the sorta old fashioned constable. Again, good job with the voiceacting there.

That was the first thing I thought too, when I met Jeyne: Jeanne D'Arc.

The Dapper Old Gent would be one of my favorite NPCs. Because despite what he does to Stonebridge, it makes sense within the game world.

I also liked the goblin that was voiced by Gideon Emery.

Bah, I'm all for the super-powered but behind the scenes characters: The Radiant X (At the moment, child). Although I do hope he gets very little screen time in the future, mostly because I want the meetings with the kid to be important and not dime a dozen.

I'm gonna add Rajani. She is probably the most interesting character after Jeyne for me. What I really like about her is when you spare her life and send her back, your actions made an impression on her and she changed her view about the legion. It wasn't the usual "You made a mistake the last time by sparing my life, now you gonna die. Har har har." stuff. :-

If I could count them as one (since it's the same voice) I'd say the automation constables of Stonebridge. Remined me of HK-47 a bit :) .

Some of the dialogue with the automaton constables are pretty funny, especially when they'll criticize things but in the same tone they'd say "hello" to you with. One that sticks out was when you were tasked with deciding the Krug's fate, and the automaton made some kind of almost sarcastic comment about how it makes perfect sense that the council member would put a stranger who doesn't even know the city in charge of the situation instead of automatons who have been running the city for years.

"Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque

"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)

I agree. For me the Automatons (and also the Goblins) added a cheerful comic bit to the game.

Automaton by Stonebridge entrance: " I see you are a...10th Legionnaire! I am instructed to treat you with tepid disdain and mistrust".

Automaton in the city street:" Please do not litter or excrete in alleyways".

Automaton inside the Meisters' building: "Welcome, the session is now open to the rabble. Apologies, the preferred term is "public".

Meister Fiddlewick just before the Dapper Old Gent fight: "I hate to say that I told you so, but...I told you so". And he also says " Oh the irony! Wait...is it irony the right word for this?"

Meister Mudgutter, after you clear the crypts of the thieves in Stonebridge, gives you a reward and says that it is taxable income, and when you question him, he replies that Odo and Marten Guiscard should be included as dependants...LOL!!!

Achambaud du Payen. I love how the Dapper Old Gent's real name rolls off the tongue. Epic name for a mage character. His story was tragic, and the voice actor did a great job. I may never be able to send him off to his execution in future replays. It would just feel too low. After learning he gets a happier ending if you do not surrender Gunderic Manor to Leona, I cannot bring myself to give it to her either.

After that, Jeyne Kassynder I suppose. Although her smack talk grates on my nerves, and her relationship with the old king is mostly glossed over, I liked that she was not an insane and illogically murderous antagonist. Jeyne's justifications for her actions all made a certain kind of sense; even if I would not agree with them all.

I also liked Ibsen's dialogue. He was relentlessly cantankerous in an amusing way.

I enjoyed meeting Reinhart so much, that I forget all other characters.

(not direct quotes) "How did you survive the mansion?"

"You mean the meeting of all legion descendants in one location? That was so obviously a trap, I didn't go."

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
