MARiNZ0 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Can anyone tell me what is the point in puting any item in the "Personal Inventory" of the characters instead of in the Stash since it's unlimited and can be organized by category? You can use situaltional items like Hook and Rope straight from your Stash so you don't need to put even them in your designated character inventories. In PoE1 there was an extra option to restrict Stash use to only during resting or in a town, but there's no such option here. Did the developers ever stated why was it removed? 2
E.RedMark Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 OMG! This ! SO MUCH THIS! I'm waiting for modder to help on that front . Everytime I buy something..it goes to the inventory where there is little space and I have to put them in the stash one by one , over and over again . Food goes directly to stash , but armor and weapon and stuff you can use..goes directly to whoever is doing the buying . what for ? The Stash is Bigger and better . 1 I'll bet ye've got all sorts o' barmy questions! (She mimics your heroic stance) Greetin's, I have some questions... can ye tell me about this place? Who's the Lady o' Pain? I'm lookin' fer the magic Girdle of Swank Iron, have ye seen it? Do ye know where a portal ta the 2,817th Plane o' the Abyss might be? Do ye know where the Holy Flamin' Frost-Brand Gronk-Slayin' Vorpal Hammer o' Woundin' an' Returnin' an' Shootin'-Lightnin'-Out-Yer-Bum is? Elderly Hive Dweller
MARiNZ0 Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 I seriously don't understand why we even have Personal Inventories now since everything can be accessed directly from the Stash and there's no option to restrict it's use.
Starwars Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Guessing it's part of the good ol' "streamlining" move to make everything a bit more casual but then... they didn't go all the way or something? I always restricted the stash in PoE1 as I like to do some inventory management (not that it's particularly difficult with no weight mechanics or inventory tetris). But yeah, it doesn't make much sense in the way it's implemented in Deadfire unless they're gonna add the "Restrict stash" button later. Jayngo Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 As much as I like the ability to get to my stash anytime I want, there should be an option for, because it does make personal stash useless. Anyone else miss the days of finding a bag of unlimited holding?? Such a great feeling! 1

I put items into personal inventory, which I use with those character (consumable or weapons) but which currently don't have space for them in active inventory. I change around weapons depending on what I am fighting and don't feel like investing an ability point into an extra weapon slot. Consumables are easier to find when in person's inventory, rather than in busy stash. Other than that - not much.
LordBlade Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Buying stuff bugged the crap out of me in the original as well. I'd buy things, and they'd go into a player's inventory. Why the hell not just put it straight into the stash? That's where I'm going to need to manually move it anyway. It was so horribly implemented.
wanderon Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 In PoE1 you could shift click to send items from personal to stash but that doesn't seem to work in Deadfire and I could not see anything in the assign key section that you could hook up to do so. 2 Nomadic Wayfarer of the Obsidian Order Not all those that wander are lost...
JerekKruger Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Not sure if it's the case, but possibly on Expert mode you can only access your stash in some locations (I think that was the case in PoE). My biggest gripe with it is that it's always the. In PoE I had to click a button to open it, thus I could forget it when it was a horrible mess (which it inevitable becomes). Note I can't. 1
ultornet Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Tbh I have the feeling that they kind of overlooked some things in this game, or frankly forgot them. Not saying I don't enjoy, still got big love for it.

Consumables are easier to find when in person's inventory, rather than in busy stash. Other than that - not much. Same here. Extra stuff I want for quick slots but don't have space for (explosives, scrolls), gear I swap to, extra grimoires, etc. Helps to distinguish what I want to save for easier access for specific characters vs what is all getting sold to vendors. Less of an issue with yellow quality gear and stuff like that but if I have 25 grimoires in my stash and i want to save 5 of them and sell 20 of them, its an annoyance to have them all in the exact same place as opposed to sticking the ones I'm keeping in my Wizard's personal bags. Shift click to send to stash works just fine for me too, so its gotta be a bug for the people it isn't working for. 1
Wintermist Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I don't know why we got personal inventory either, it serves no purpose for the player. Quest items end up in the stash, and there is no multiplayer so no one can sneak up and drop stuff on you either. I guess it's there for tradition
Zagadka Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Well, sometimes you just want something handy on the char instead of in the soup of stash... from scrolls/other use items, tertiary weapons... Also so you don't sell it by accident. It isn't a strong reason for it to exist, but it is a fair enough reason. 3

Especially once I get mid game and have lots of loot, it helps that I don't have to look through the stash to find the consumable or enchanted item that I'm looking for.

Witness41920 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I use the personal inventory to stash items I dont' want to accidentally sell when I'm purging my stash.
Isometric Chicken Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 To be honest, I've never understood the mentality of threads like this. No offense to anyone, of course. It's just that if you really want the stash to be restricted to camps, taverns etc, why not... restrict it to those areas? Just because the game allow you to access the stash from anywhere, it doesn't mean you have to access it anywhere. All you have to do is tell yourself you can only access it in camps, then ignore it when you're adventuring outside the camp. Simple as that. Take weapons, for instance. In most games like this, if you don't specialize in a weapon, you get a big penalty for using it. But in this game, all you lose is the special "skill" that comes with it. So if you find a great pistol you aren't trained in using, go ahead and use it anyway. I know this could be a problem for some. "My priest would do a lot more damage with this, but priests don't use pistols. Angst!" Well, if your priest don't use pistols, then just... don't use the pistol? Likewise, if you only want to specialize in two weapons, yet the game "forces" you to specialize in a third, it doesn't mean you have to use that third weapon at all. Point is, I think a lot of people would enjoy games a lot more if they learned to open up and be more responsible for their own fun. Think the stash should be restricted? Restrict it yourself. Is fast travel cheating? Then don't fast travel. Is PotD too easy? Don't buy or craft any healing potions, and don't get the best gear possible at all times. Make a flawed character or two. Pick the worst classes you can imagine. Play a fighter or paladin in robes with no shield. There are tons of ways to tailor the game to suit your own need and playstyle. 2

I agree with your post for the most part, I usually just ignore features I don't use or don't like because I'm certain other people do use and/or like them and it's not like it hinders my ability to play and enjoy the game. However, I wanted to quote this part because it's funny you should use that example. My Priest uses pistols because they're honestly the best weapons for him to use. He's got flail proficiency to for when he uses his holy weapon spell but otherwise he's a Priest that's packing.

Because it's always natural that you wont mentally gimp yourself. Thats why you have Trial of Iron. Say they removed this feature and some people started complaining. Would you just say "tell yourself" no to load a save if you die? That does not work. Say the majority of people found Dark Souls easy, your anwser would be "tell yourselft not to lvl up "? And what about the majority of people complaining about POTD difficulty? Will you just tell them to not lvl up and use armor"? Whenever someone tells you to "gimp yourself" to make the game more enjoyable/playable, thats more a fault of the game than the person complaining. Truth is, I don't know why they've casualised this as well the unlimeted rest. Edited May 17, 2018 by Taurus 2
Tomice Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 (edited) I find it nice for items I want to reserve for a special character (the bomb throwing specialist as example, or skill check potions/gear for my main char) Edited May 17, 2018 by Tomice 2
PneumaticFire Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Its like saying why should I have a separate draw for my socks and underwear when I can sort all my clothes in a wardrobe. Sometimes you want items that are specifically for one character quickly accessible (more than is allowed in quick-slots) instead of searching through a big pool of categories items. I don't see what the fuss is about. "If you would, you could become all flame" - Abba Joseph of the Desert Fathers.
Teacher Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 I find it nice for items I want to reserve for a special character (the bomb throwing specialist as example, or skill check potions/gear for my main char) That's what I do too. Got a bunch of pets and items with attribute boosts in the main's inventory so I can boost whatever is needed for dialogue.
