To be honest, both are pretty bad. No real need to speak of the latter here, but the former looks terribly tacky, non-descript and inexpeessive. Obviously the post is calling to mind the difference in detail and craft, but the only thing the above seems to show to me is how utterly meaningless the same is, the result is still hopelessly bland.

The only episode that had decent ratings was the pilot, and even that underperformed in its timeslot, then it took a sharp turn even before it was moved to a death slot, going from 2.4 million US viewers for the pilot to 1.4 for the next and never recovering. It consistently got its butt kicked by shows like Phineas and Ferb despite being much more costly to produce. People not watching it is partly to blame for networks moving further to stylized stuff, now coming full circle.

 

Its timeslot contributing to its death can be debated, but it's pretty clear that not enough people watched it (similarly, DVD and merchandising sales were nonexistent compared to other shows of this target). As much as I'd love to attribute this to channels screwing over another good show, that person is wrong. Also lol, their source link is TV Tropes.

 

Edit: Ironically, CN's viewership tanked since then and now even their flagship shows that used to average 3 million get less than that. Shows like Star vs. The Forces of Evil average 0.3 and are considered acceptable. How the mighty have fallen.

stylized is not the problem, the art style and content is. you don't need a very detailed design to make a good animated series (there are tons of stylized anime that got huge popularity) but you need to have a design that fits the tone of the series. also, taking something that has a badass name and history like Thundercats and turning it into something so ugly that i'm at a loss for words to describe is an insult to those who made the original and the fans who liked it... and this is what most people have an issue with "why must you destroy the legacy of a famous old work of art by making a crappy remake of it and don't just call your creation something else?"

Eh, these new designs fit the tone of the old series. That show was the dumbest and looked cooler than it was. Snarf!

 

Anyway, if you don't like it, don't watch it. Most of the people complaining didn't care about Thundercats enough to watch the actually good reboot, so why care now? Either way, if you're insulted by a children's cartoon, you probably uave bigger problems you should be focusing on.
