Guard Dog Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Guard Dog, we also endure every rambling of you when it comes to the evil state interference. So do cut us some slack here. Besides, there’s something to learn. You don’t have to understand anything to support capitalism, you just have to appreciate the status quo. You actually have to understand said status quo to support socialism. Of course, everyone can understand the attractiveness of a world where everyone does what is best for him and everyone wins. But as the prisoners dilemma shows, that doesn’t work. And it would be Apple Right so the solution is to take away the things people have worked for all their lives because not everyone enjoyed the same success. That will really incentivize me to work hard. Ah who am I fooling. Whenever communists take over people like me are the first ones to be lined up and shot. But on the extremely remote chance that didn't happen you'd better believe I'll be the one picking apples. Guard Dog Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I have already completely forsworn any association with the Republican Party. Unless Rand Paul gets nominated in 2020, then I'll vote for him. But this whole Roy Moore debacle in Alabama is really distasteful. For those who don't know he's the "Christian" right Senate candidate who it seems has a thing for underage girls. All these girls coming out might be a little suspicious because he's been in public service for 30 years. Why come forward now? But there are so many of them. Even if a few are fake (one definitely is) with that much smoke there is a fire in there somewhere. It's ironic isn't it? The Democrats are the ones who rail against big business, dirty money in politics, and voter rights. But their people are the ones caught taking bribes, influence pedaling, and voter and campaign fraud. The Republicans are supposed to be the 'moral" party of Judaeo-Christian values and Pro-Family stuff, railing against gay & trans folks. But they are ones caught hunting underage girls and boys, or trying to pick up men in airport restrooms. If you really want to know what a politician is up to listen to what they are against. The louder the are opposed to something the more likely they are doing it. I'd love to find out though. The realities of global geopolitics derailed (partially, for now) Trumps America First doctrine, I'd expect a libertarian to have their ideology derailed just as much. And I don't know if he's 'downsizing' government like a libertarian would. Edited November 15, 2017 by smjjames
Chilloutman Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 (edited) But he (Trump) is not Libertarian ... Edited November 15, 2017 by Chilloutman I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

smjjames Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I know, and even Rand Paul would have more discipline than Trump, but my point is that the realities of global geopolitics will try their best to derail whatever a politicians original plans were. Being all isolationist and noninterventionist was a whole lot easier before WWII, now it's much harder due to the nature of globalism.

Yeah, though it's kind of a pseudo coup, closer to a power struggle. https://www.vox.com/world/2017/11/15/16654740/zimbabwe-coup-situation-robert-mugabe-house-arrest Mugabe is under house arrest but he is still president and hasn't been replaced.

Gfted1 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Agreed. Not a single foot of Trumpwall will be built before he's out of office so any publicity is good publicity. It was also brilliant of them to pass the costs on the their customers. A special cherry on top is them thinking "the government" will pay for the lawsuit. Bartimaeus Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 (edited) Now what they should do is split up that territory by doling out each each square inch to like a million people, so that when the government claims eminent domain, they have they have to deal with a million people all at once. That should take long enough to outlast Trump. Edited November 15, 2017 by Bartimaeus Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. Gfted1 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Um, the costs will be borne by the very taxpayers who bought the parcels (and the rest of us). "We just paid for the land for this other company and now we will bring the "government" to its knees in an expensive lawsuit. F-YEAH!" R00fles! Im more surprised that people can buy land right up to another country border. I figured there was some buffer of space between countries that was owned by the respective governments. ShadySands Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Every McDonald's I've been that has the touch screen ordering machines still has people behind the counter taking orders and in the back making the food. I even got table service last time I was in New York. The one closest to my work encourages ordering ahead via their app and they'll bring the food out to your car. I can only speak to what I've personally seen but it hasn't been at all like the doom and gloom "you wanted $15, now meet your replacement" type arguments. Free games updated 3/4/21
