Wrath of Dagon Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 (edited) They say you shouldn't kick someone when they're down, but what the hell: http://pagesix.com/2017/04/19/hillary-camp-scrambling-to-find-out-who-leaked-embarrassing-info/The America Conservative has an excerpt from that book on their page. Apparently Clinton was a seriously paranoid individual. She had staffers spy on other staffers. She read other people e-mail. They had a "loyalty" list of congress where they ranked the congress critters from 1-7 on their loyalty to their campaign. She had a strained relationship with the President (that isn't news to anyone) and her whole campaign went out if it's way to ignore the advice coming from Bill Clinton. And it sounds like he was warning them as far back as April 2016 they were in trouble. I might have to give that book a look. it sounds interesting from the little I read. Apparently she was quite sophisticated in using email servers to spy on her employees. Then claimed in sworn testimony she had no idea how email servers work. Up to them, can understand the pay cuts, but at same time it's politics. U either jump in the sludge pit with all the bad along with the good, or just stay away or else will end up muddier and ****tier than before. At the same time, Trump trying to cut dead weight in expenses so it's expected so I can see both sides. Knowing our govt, we problemly throwing to much dosh or people aren't allocating it well enough. Dunno if it's a **** storm because things are being done or if it's because of very bad decisions. Zoraptor Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Le Pen has no chance of becoming French president, none at all. She may well win the first round but she'll lose to any of the other three main candidates in the run off, and lose by a fair margin. Compared to Le Pen Trump and Brexit were the deadest of dead certainties, if Le Pen wins then the universe would need rebooting as a critical reality error would have occurred.

Compared to Le Pen Trump and Brexit were the deadest of dead certainties, if Le Pen wins then the universe would need rebooting as a critical reality error would have occurred. There are actually 2 extreme candidates who may cause France to leave the EU Le Penn is one and the other is Mélenchon who is an outspoken critic of the EU. So there is greater reason for anxiety around this election outcome "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. BruceVC Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 BruceVC, do u view the EU as a socialist, capitalist, or communist organization? Hybrid, primarily Capitalist driven economy but they have certain socialist laws around how the EU functions But its an excellent paradigm of a good economic model and example of how you can unite countries under a common economic vision, sure its not perfect but the good outweighs the bad...its a pity some people dont realize that. Like Le Penn 1 "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Guard Dog Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I know you didn't ask me but it's none of those things. It's a agreement to free trade, travel, and cooperation on matters concerning common interest. It's problem is it's beginning to intrude on the day to day internal governance of the member nations and the Brits have already had enough. Indications are some others may follow. 2 "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

Hopefully more countries join in, I've always thought "when in Rome do as the Romans do" when visiting or moving to new areas. The US was changing its culture to adjust to immigrants? France as well? It has been for some time, slowly at first but now the past maybe 6 years it seems more rapid and in ur face. Sorry tired, tldr version. Before u came here and adapted to the ways of here just like if u moved to another country, u would learn those language and culture to fit in. Now it's more of instead of adapting to the culture and ways of here, it us that has to adapt and change because they are not used to or like or wanna change culture and mindset. Meaning that the traditions, values, mindset of an established area has to adapt to new comers coming in and just because they are from somewhere else, instead of them adapting, the ones here already have to adapt even if the ways, culture, mindset is opposite or conflict. Making citizens do the work of adapting instead of putting it on the new comers to adapt. I'm sorry I'm tired. Problemly sounds very old fashion.
Hurlshort Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I think that it is a common belief that immigrants have always been expected to fit in to the new country, instead of the other way around, but it doesn't hold up to historical scrutiny. In the US we've had a number of massive immigration floods that have fundamentally altered the culture in different areas. Every time there are groups complaining about these foreigners and their new ways. The most ironic is probably the complaints about the Southwest becoming too Hispanic, given the actual history of the areas. The recent immigration trends from predominantly Muslim countries seems like a drop in the bucket compared to the Irish Catholic and German Lutheran waves of immigration that the US has gone through, or the waves from Asia at the turn of the 20th century.

ktchong Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) My sisters are Chinese Americans. One of them married a French man and has lived in France for about fifteen years. A couple days ago, after the Paris shooting, I called her on the phone. During our phone conversation, she mentioned that she would be voting for Le Pen "if she made it to the second round" - because of the "Muslim problem". In the past she had told me that Muslims had harassed her on the streets a few times, and she had complained that (and I am paraphrasing her) "those Muslims come here and act like they own the country." Here is the shocker: she told me not to tell my other sisters that she would be voting for Le Pen. My other sisters would not be please and would try to dissuade her. All of my sisters - actually, my entire family - are fairly "liberal" or "progressive" people. This particular sister in France actually has been a harsh critic of Donald Trump, yet she said she planned to vote for Le Pen ("if she made it to the second round;" so that was her qualifier for Le Pen.) That was when I also went, "oh ****, Le Pen is going to win," because here in the US, we also had a lot of voters who were too embarrassed to admit to other people (and to pollsters) that they would vote for Donald Trump. Then they actually voted for Donald Trump, like how my sister in France who would vote for Le Pen but was too embarassed to admit it. Edited April 23, 2017 by ktchong 1
ktchong Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Here is an irony: Another sister lives in Sweden. That sister had also complained the Muslims in her country. Before Donald Trump won the election last year, my sister in Sweden had told me, "I wish we have someone here like Donald Trump to deal with all the Muslims running amok here." Then, a few minutes after saying that, she added, "but don't tell [my other sister in France] I said that. I don't want her to think I'm pro-fascist or something." So, when my sister in France told me not to tell my other sisters that she would vote for Le Pen, I broke out in laughter. She asked, "what?!?" And I said, "nothing". I laughed because of the irony: the sister in France told me not to tell the other sister in Sweden that she would vote for Le Pen, but the other sister in Sweden had earlier told me not to tell the sister in France that she would also vote for someone like Donald Trump in Sweden. I thought it was funny. Seems to me that Muslims, immigrants, migrants and refugees have been driving a lot of voting decisions in America and Europe. I dislike Muslims and illegal immigrants, but I would not let them determine how I vote. P.S. Yes, all three of my sisters are married to white guys. You know what they say about Asian women and white men. Many Asian women even prefer very specific types of white men. Those two sisters went to Europe with the very specific intention of finding white European husbands, and they got what they wanted. Edited April 23, 2017 by ktchong 2
Hynkel Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Thanks for your testimony ktchong. I have a taiwanese sister-in-law who has the same kind of mindset, so I can relate. France is facing the same kind of issues USA had at some point of its history with catholic migrants : sons and grandsons of worker migrants, who grew up in ghettos, surrounded by unemployed people with zero job connection, yearn for big things and look up to thugs and drug dealers because there's no other role model available (yeah I watched the Goodfellas last night, the movie is incredibly spot-on.). The thing is, most of these people are born in France and have no other nationality than French. Plus, there are 2 million muslim people in France, in a country of 60 million people. If most of these muslim people were mobsters the country would look like a Mad Max remake, except with more cows. What even the conservative right knows (and that's why Fillon called to vote for Macron) is that if you enforce a policy pointing 2 million people as a threat, you're not going to accomplish anything but making the country explode. "Look, the group of people we have treated like sh!t for decades (and still do... the pope himself says we put them in concentration camps) is slowly starting to get pissed at us. BURN THEM ALIVE BEOFRE THEY CAN REPRODUCE" The sick thing is, I hear people actually saying that they are worried about the preservation of their respective culture because immigrants apparently have more children. If your sister was harassed by a banker, would she vote far left? If your sister was harassed by a lesbian, would she vote conservative? Then why the hell does she vote far right when she is harassed by an immigrant? C'mon kid, your smarter than that. When Muslims gangs were raping women, was it far right thinking or far left thinking that prevented police to look into it because it would make them look like racists in the UK? Was it far right or far left thinking that tried to deny any connections to Muslims here in America when a man shots up a gay club in Florida or to erase from documents the word Muslim of 911 or to go in a change personal information so that a shooter at college who was Muslim instead is shown different religion? If u was assaulted with no one around except you and an immigrant, who would be on your side and have your back and who would tried to cover it up, downplay it so that they don't look like racists or harm the image of the immigrants?
BruceVC Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Whats wrong with wanting to marry a white person? Its a personal choice and we shouldn't need to scrutinize the decision so much.....surly ?
