I just want to know what exactly happened to cause C&C4. It's one of those things that everyone had to know better than to release, but there it was.

Comes out in 2 days.  I guess this was a Kickstarter game, I hadn't heard of it until just now.  Anyway, it's a sRPG with town management and diplomacy.  It's from a Polish studio and has a nice hand-drawn aesthetic.  Seems like something right up my alley, hopefully it doesn't suck.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Lel, what a surprise. Not that I complain, I really don't, but it was kinda expectable.

Team: Aren't people expecting Red Dead Redemption 2?!!! It's a spaghetti western-themed 3rd...

Ubi: It's settled then!

Actually seems like a pretty good setting for them to tackle, given the diverse topographies they've already covered. I'll buy it.

Man, I am pretty triggered right now, :p. The so-called "Byzantine" Empire was a direct continuation of the Roman Empire - the term "Byzantine" is in fact a modern made-up word to describe the different (Latin vs. the later Greek) periods of the Roman Empire. In other words, people of the time considered themselves Roman, not Byzantines. The United States has about as good of a claim to the title of "Third Rome" as Russia does...although on different grounds, just as the Holy Roman Empire and, later, Nazis did.

The claims to be the 3rd Rome were based on the Tsar's claims of inheritance based on his marriage to the niece of the last Emperor and Muscovy's status as the most powerful Orthodox state.

Tzar is a distortion of Caesar, true fact. Byzantium was called Tzar City in old Russian.

Well, I am probably going to have time for 1 open-world western game and if that's the case then I'll definitely go with RDR 2.

Yeah, I know. Still doesn't make it Rome. :|

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

I'm going to have to save up...

I love Far Cry games in general - well except fo Primal. And I love RDR lol :(

The problem is, while I totally would want to play a wild west FarCry game, it probably will have all these super annoying gameplay elements that all FarCry games after the first one had. It's still going to be your typical Ubisoft game and based on experience I just don't like this type of game.

That's my concern too.  Are they going to shake up the formula at all, or will this be another reskin of Far Cry 3?  Then again, the same (somewhat tired) open world formula can still work if it's executed really well and they make traversing the map really fun, as Mad Max proved.  Now, they probably can't do the same level of upgrading and customizing your horse as Mad Max did with its car porn, but if Ubi manages to make horseback riding and combat from horseback really fun and integral to the game then it can work.

Well, considering RDR didn't shake up the Rockstar formula, both games fall into the been-there-done-that, in a western skin, category to the extreme. Can't be bothered to play any reincarnation after reincarnation of the same style games anymore.

I love Ubi games though, well most of their franchises anyways. Far Cry is a great one, Rayman is another. I can't really complain about any of the mechanics as they did a great job of incorporating rpg elements within an fps game which nobody else has done before them. For ex. Leveling up with tattoos to give you new abilities and such, collecting plants and herbs to craft. I really hope stuff like that doesn't change. The one Far Cry that I had a problem with was Primal... it just felt wrong and I probably will never own it because I am disappointed that much in the direction that they went in.

I think RDR2 will be good, I'm sure it will sell like crazy but I'm not sure it will be as good as the first one though. Even if it's not, I'm sure Rockstar fanboys will exaggerate praise for it. Far Cry: West on the other hand will get lots of hate Im sure, just because its Far Cry and even though they're generally great games, they will get thrown to the wolves but at least it will be something new though... even if it's the "same old" formula, let's face it, there hasn't exactly been a game like Far Cry set in the west and tbh I'm pretty excited about how that could turn out. Aside from that, Far Cry games are among the best "story -written" ahooters out there.

So, I'm hoping to be able to assemble and customize revolvers in Far Cry: West (yes, that's what I'm calling it for now). There's alot of potential and Ubisoft usually does pretty well with Far Cry games and the dlc for them as well.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

Rockstar Games aren't perfect but they always manage to do a solid job when it comes to storytelling. As for Ubisoft, the only games that have had a good story in recent years were Driver: San Fransisco and Far Cry 3. Can't really trust them for delivering a good story after having played and finished Far Cry 4. Never bothered trying Far Cry: Primal.

I'll give Far Cry 4 credit for one thing.  The game had multiple endings and you could get by far the best ending in less than a half hour.  I thought that was pretty brilliant.

Interesting that you have to get it via the battle.net client. Apparently you can buy it with WoW gold too through the WoW token
