I'm using this portrait myself, so I thank you for the watercolour! But it also makes me curious: off in what way?

Well, this one is not so bad, but two others didn't much look like game's orlans at all.

Aramintai, could you make any of this, please?

Hopefully Aramintai doesn't mind me stepping in and hopefully you like these Salinger.

Not at all, I'm actually trying to encourage people to make these portraits themselves, even posted an instruction around here somewhere. But so far only few people got interested.

(No disrespect intended towards Aramintai but I prefer the 4chan watercoloureds, they have slightly more definition)

The reason why my watercolored versions have small definition is because the game doesn't scale well watercolored portraits of bigger than standard size. Your hi-res watercolored portraits may look worse, blurrier there and you'll have to resize them anyway. Also, my portraits are checked against other portraits in the game - those made by other user may have more color/contrast or whatever but they look like they will stand out too much from the rest of the NPCs portraits in the game. But suit yourself.

I didn't really understand what you were trying to say there, sorry.

I just compared these two:

and decided I liked the 4chan version better, that's all. It wasn't meant to be personal.  Please don't take offence!  Thanks for doing the Aloth one, also!

Lol, I'm not taking offense, I'm just trying to explain why my portraits are of specific size and palette, so to speak. Anyway, you gotta put those in the game and then see which one will look better. That's why I also always post two screenshots from the game along the portraits - one in a conversation with an NPC and the other from scripted interaction.

@Aramintai thanks! I really appreciate it.

Btw, how many portraits do I actually need for each character? I was watching a beta let's play and these new portraits seem to appear only in conversations. Do I need two of them, for the two different sizes of the normal portraits?

You need two watercolor portraits, one is 90x141 the other 76x96. The first one for conversations with other NPCs, the second one for scripted interactions.

Thanks for clarifying. I was wondering if I was asking to convert more portraits than actually needed.

two years ago or so I made a fire godlike for an evil playthrough from some demon that I found on deviantart (background needs work):

Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods

I had a quick google and these are the kinds of pictures I'm after, unfortunately all the great artists seem to fascinated with the female form (I empathise) and thus I couldn't find a single male portrait that interested me.

I've provided the originals where applicable, in case you guys want to make your own crops.  The first one needs an artist's loving touch, because I can't edit it to 210x330 without removing aspects of the character's head, which I don't want to do.

Can someone give me a quick run down on these two?

On Chrome at least you can right click the image and choose search on Google images and, for most images of people, this will tell you their identity. From there you can find the run down yourself.

Well, I wasn't able to find as many as I thought I would.  Disappointing.

The problem is a lot of the originals are really low rez so I can't pick out the faces without dramatic loss in quality.

Oh well.

Maybe someone will get some use out of these.
