Yes, Gary Johnson is a towering example of an orator and a genius.

  said no one ever! He was just the least undesirable choice. And an opportunity to help the cause in 2020 if the LP can manage to get it's act together. You an I live in the reddest of red states. The only way our votes were going to count for anything was voting for either Johnson or Stein. I am WAY philosophically disinclined to do the latter.

If only Trump had access to agencies that could verify what things he hears. No such luck I guess.

Not sure where you live, but newsflash!!!!!: Texas is certainly not among the 'reddest of red' states.

That's an old reputation that is nowadays is just good for business, not much to do with reality. Unless one ignores the giant socialist population cells in the major population areas of Dallas, Houston, et al as well as the 'Mexican Invasion', which brings with it one hell of a lot of blue voters (though some certainly question the validity of many of these votes).

That said, if you do ignore those two things, the state is indeed as red as they come. As is much of the rest of the U.S.: ignore the large urban centers and things get much more red.

For 'reddest of red': look to your northern neighbors of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, or a little further afield at Wyoming or Kentucky. Though all of these states suffer a degree of imported socialists/'useful idiots' in their larger cities, they don't suffer as much as most other states do, yet.

Also, I look forward to the day that you realize that the 'libertarian' and 'green' parties are not the answer. They have been both thoroughly bought and paid for by the same folks who own the reds and blues. You're a stubborn dude, like many a libertarian party liker I know, but I do hold out some faith you'll see the light at some point. Granted, it's a light on some dark things, not a pretty conclusion to come to, but it's the reality all the same.

Given the current situation I can hardly blame Trump for not listening to agencies that clearly want him removed and are trying for a soft coup. Hard to trust their information under those circumstances.

Hardly matters anyway, if he went for verification before talking it might stop a 'last night in Sweden' type moment where he's talking off the cuff about something he half heard last night, but there's been plenty of cases of leaders picking information selectively to fit what they want to be true whatever the information they have access to.

Carter was a fool, Reagan was often confused, George H.W. Bush had a tin ear, Clinton was one of the most skilled liars in history, George W. Bush couldn't put two words together, Obama read deliberate lies off a teleprompter, and Trump talks out his ass. Pick your poison.

Yes, this is exactly the kind of false equivalence that has put a guy like Trump the White House.  All Presidents, like all humans, have some negative characteristics.  That doesn't mean that some negative characteristics aren't far far more "poisonous" than others to an individual's prospects for being an effective public servant.

It's ironic, We were down on Obama because he couldn't even talk to his kids over dinner without a teleprompter and lauded Trump because he never used one.

The days of that President are very likely at least two generations off, fortunately.

The jury is still out but it ain't looking good.

But, as I am so fond of repeating, "Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson".

Now this is worth a laugh. Someone created an alternate news website where Hillary Clinton won the election. It is pretty funny. http://www.hillarybeattrump.org/

I'd rather find out what the President really thinks even if it produces some trumpisms than listen to a bunch of lies that a speechwriter thought people would prefer to hear. People just need to stop freaking out.

so when trump says something utter stupid, outrageous or offensive, wod gets to pick whether it is a trumpism OR a window into the President's brain?  when trump claims, "laziness is a trait of blacks," wod will no doubt dismiss as trumpism or fake news as 'posed to what the President "really thinks"? when trump regails with stories 'bout grabbing a woman's p#$$&, is such a trumpism or truth?  have seen wod try and tell us what trump actual means when he says stuff more than once, so we can't go strict by what trump says, eh?

how... quaint.

oh, and am agreeing with observation 'bout trumpisms allow us to see what and how he thinks. is why we already complained how, "much o' trump falsehood is less a result o' machination than it is simple his ignorance coupled with impulse control issues."  we do indeed know what trump thinks.  so do you.  question is 'bout the folks undisturbed 'bout having a misogynist, racist and delusional (crowd size and polls) President who has impulse control issues and an incredible fragile ego.

call something a "trumpism" don't make it any less false, don't make it less racist or misogynistic.  call it a trumpism is in 2017 simple a terrifying recognition o' the commonplace and banal.  is so common, the impact is indeed lessening when what should be happening is a proportional increase in concern. is all backwards and upside down.

HA! Good Fun!

I have no doubt that WoD believes what he/she says, but note the url of the related link.  When one's most trusted news sources are composed primarily of "alternative facts," some, shall we say, eccentricities are to be expected.

That said, "corporate interests" is a lazy generalization that doesn't really say much at all about a politician's positions.  There are lots of corporate entities with lots of varied political stances.  Unless you're talking specifically about the laws regarding formation and operation of a corporation (which, for the most part, are state-level, not federal), there aren't many policy proposals that you couldn't find some corporations for and some against.
