Logan was an excellent conclusion to the Hugh Jackman era. Go see it. It is also the first time they've really embraced the brutality of Wolverine as a character. They earned that R-rating.

Logan is the most wantonly violent movie I've seen this side of Tarantino or DePalma, since The Raid.

The Red Pill. I think the bit that had the biggest impact on me was the bit on Boko Haram and how they had been specifically avoiding harming women in their attacks and had murdered over 2000 boys, but didn't get any media attention in the west until they kidnapped some girls.

Isn't it always like that? Some dude getting a beating is forgotten soon, while an assault on a pretty lady makes the crap hit the fan for days or weeks.

Also helps that it was in Africa, when it comes to the West caring. Hm, might just be a case of no one pointing it out as much as well.

Jupiter Ascending on in the background. It might have a lot of silly, but the visual design is pretty damn glorious.

Logan  - 8/10 Entertaining movie with a lot of good stuff, but seriously, thanks to Identity Politics SJW Nazis brainwashing me, this movie got hurt by it. But, still a fun watch.

King: Skull Island - 8/10  A great action thriller and that's what count. Some of the deaths were wasted and Samuel Jackson's character is *this* close to be a real classic but  a ccertain piece of the puzzle ruins it. Still, the movie is what it is. A top notch action flick.

Uhh... How so? I don't think any such politics came into play here.

Evil White Amerika swoops into Mexico, rapes the women with mutant seed to grow 'controllable halfbreed mutants'.. and, when it is clear they can't control them they attempt to exterminate them.   The heroic nurse with X spells this out for you..  And, the whites at either old white men (the two original mutants) heroes willing to sacrifice their   lives for the younger new improved generation so their evil white ways die.  Professor X so old and so white that he mass m urders people with his brain cause he can't help it.  Logan is so old, so grumpy, so uncaring... then he cares but dies.

The other whities in the picture is the funny white store clerk who gets manhandled by a little girl (that was funny! lol) and the Big Bad Evil White Dudes.

The survivors are led by non whities and the few whities at baasiclly mute patsy who have learned to shut up and know their place in This New Brave World Without racism Because Whitey Is Dead. See. Identity Politics backfire.

I still enjoyed the movie. :)

You're obsessing way too much on the characters' skin colour, I'd say. Laura is also white and she is undoubtedly a heroine for the mutant escapees at the end of the film, whether a leader or not. And USA swooping down on any foreign country and raping it is just business as usual, really. It's not like the X-Men saga, of all superhero sagas, hasn't handled the concept of racial discrimination and diversity, corporation-controlled genetic warfare, government-led witch hunts, ghettoizing et al. time and time again right from its inception.

 "Laura is also white"

Half white. Did you not listen to the heroic nurse (who is the true hero of the film).

Like I said, this is the fault of SJW Nazis and the Identity Politics. I can't just enjoy movie I have to SJW the crap out if it. L0L

Still, fun film, great acting, good action. That's all that matters in the end. :)

p.s. Also, Wolverine happens to be  Kanadian.. which to many are the 'nice white people'. L0L... Despite us just recently having a  mass murderer of Muslim awhile back... guess the filmmaker should have taken that into account when making Kanada the 'Safe HAVEN'. :p

Considering the nurse is herself white, I'd say Laura's white. :)

But otherwise, yeah, wouldn't be surprised if this gets its few nominations at the Oscars at the end of the year. Great screenplay, superb performances all around, just a really solid film.

On my way in to work I was randomly thinking about that movie My Cousin Vinny. At that moment I decided to switch on the radio, which was tuned in to a talk news radio station and I kid you not they were talking about that movie at that exact moment. And the Twilight Zone theme suddenly played in my head o.O

When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

I don't know. While I agree that entertainment doesn't need to be award-worthy (far from it, actually) I'm rapidly approaching a point where gorgeous visuals can no longer polish a turd, for both movies and games. Even low budget schlock like Iron Sky looks visually impressive these days (not that I don't like low budged schlock, I loved every moment of Iron Sky).

Point in case, well, Avatar. When it came out I went to an IMAX cinema and the movie gave me vertigo in certain scenes (I hate heights, really, standing on a chair is enough to make me queasy) and I thorogouly enjoyed the three hours of special effects porn. I caught a rerun on TV recently and... boy is that one dumb film that has loads of distracting obvious CGI stuff, most prominent obviously being Saldana's blue space elf brigade.

On the flipside Volo's much disliked Avengers (the first one, that is) is almost as dumb in its story premise but at least it has a roster of decent actors and some really funny dialogue.

Jupiter Ascending has Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum and a Sean Bean character that actually survives. That's just wrong. ;)

To be fair, one half of the visual design of Avatar looks interesting, the other half does seem very..animated Ferngully approach. It's got some "nice" cgi, but I wouldn't really say the visual design was glorious (at least in my mind of thinking). The way they approached it and all the lifeforms (apart from the space smurfs) came from a six-limbed biological background was interesting (if not great science), and those sorts of touches from a purely aesthetic viewpoint were nice to see, but once you step past the "gee whiz next level CGI!" of it all, it falls somewhat flat.

Jupiter Ascending is in some ways similar to 5th Element, although 5th Element has a better story, in that all the design choices work, and don't come across as glaringly CGI porn only. The costume designs, the background sets, the starship aesthetics... The whole look and feel connects together and has a certain impact to the eye and brain.

Office Christmas Party.

Nothing stunningly out of this world, but pleasantly funny with a few good chuckles.

Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T J Miller, Jennifer Aniston, Kate McKinnon along with a whole lot of faces you'd recognise but not be able to name, playing the parts of an office branch threatened with closure and mass firing just before Christmas and the office party they throw in an attempt to land a big client. Things, as might be expected, escalate wildly out of control.

Saw Zulu Dawn (Hooray for Youtube) I can say I liked Zulu better. But at the very least it is an interesting gateway into learning the history behind the events.

Edit : Dawn not Wars. Zulu Wars would be a crappy RTS.

Saw Jackie yesterday. You can see how the premise may have intrigued Darren Aronofsky as, on the surface, the film may appear to be a psychological drama about dealing with grief and shock - and it can work that way too if one chooses to view it as such. But to my mind, the manner in which the LIFE interview frames the events makes it a lot less about that and more about the construction and forgery of history, the narrative to an "offical story" and the way the fragility of memory plays into it as well. It's really interesting stuff, masterfully put together by Pablo Larraín who only continues to grow as one of the 21st century's greatest filmmakers. Mica Levi's score is also immense, and Portman's never been better.

Just finished Death Bed The Bed That Eats, a horror flick from '77. It's... about a bed eating people.

If you're wondering if the film is as awesome as the premise sounds then here's a spoiler:

Of course it is. It's a bed eating people and it has gratuitous boobs to boot and the full film is on Youtube for free, what's not to love?
