Leferd
Was forwarded this link, because...sports! http://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/37225767 Alex Hales struck a record 171 and Jos Buttler made England's fastest ever 50 from 22 balls as England hit 444-3....Despite Jason Roy's early dismissal to a short Hasan Ali delivery, Hales' aggressive nature saw him register a 55-ball half-century, before earning a reprieve on 73 when he was caught off a no-ball. Buttler had a late reprieve as he was bowled off a Wahab no-ball, before Morgan made his 31st one-day half-century by clubbing another six into the stand....Buttler then struck the final ball of the innings over extra cover for four to finish on 90 not out and register a remarkable, unbeaten 161-run partnership with Morgan. I have no idea what happened. Halp. Guard Dog
Rest in peace, Eddy. Three months is far too short a time to have had the long, loved life that you were supposed to have. Azdeus
I'm very sorry TrueNeutral =( So, today, I went to work, found out that I was supposed to be an area supervisor for the day, something I've clearly told my bosses I'm unsuited for. Stressed as **** over it, but it went fine anyway thankfully. It's probably going to happen again tomorrow despite my wishes not to. Sigh. Anyway, went home, watched a documentary about the music industry and wanted to listen to Eric Clapton unplugged. Ended up finding a band I've heard before, but not known the name of, Blues Saraceno. Love 'em. 1 Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Guard Dog
Meeting the building inspector at the townhouse today. I didn't realize I had to pay for him to come out. That is quite a racket they have. Afterwards I'm meeting the association manager. She mentioned she might know a renter who would be interested. That would be a lot quicker and easier than I could have hoped. Guard Dog
You busted that remodel out fast! I didn't do near as much as I was planning. And I didn't do as much of what got done as I was planning on doing. I hired out the floors, kitchen cabinets and counter tops to the places I bought the material from. I did do all the drywall work and painting and replaced the front door (can you believe you need a permit to that?!?). i installed a new security system and replaced the light fixtures and ceiling fans. I put a new tub, toilets, and vanities in the bathrooms and replaced the hot water heater (what also needed a damn permit). The cabinets and floors were the two biggest jobs though and the time vs cost vs aggravation led me to think it might be better is someone sled did those. 1 "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell
Labadal
Finally got my PC. Being without one for a few weeks was not something I'm used to. Not the end of the world or anything like that, but I am really happy to have one in the house.
Woldan
I'm sorry for your loss TN, looks like he was an adorable little furry guy. ManifestedISO
Dropped a full basket of wet coffee grounds from counter-height, reaching for the trash with both hands, where it rim-shot the garbage can, flipped and exploded. Tens of millions of moist black granules all over the wall, baseboard, floor, cabinet, recycling bin, and my imaginary chihuahua. Nonek
I had an awkward rejection. Is there any other kind? Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin. Tea for the teapot! Deadly_Nightshade
I had an awkward rejection. Is there any other kind? I once asked out someone and while she didn't say yes it wasn't awkward at all and we still met up for dinner and drinks later that night but just as friends and not as a date. "Geez. Azdeus
Been at my workplace for 11 months, spent 99% of that time doing alot of lifting, carrying, pushing and whatever else you can think of that puts strain on my back. I worked a retail job through college behind a cash register, then one day they had me fill in for someone on the replenishment team who called in. After that day I couldn't imagine myself surviving a job like that doing that for ~40 hours a week. Now here I am working a cushy studio job and now I'm starting to feel the chair aches. Thankfully the new department head on his own initiative decided to get all of us standing desks. We'll see how that works out for my sciatica. Quote “Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.” -Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>> Quote "The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete." -Rod Serling

I "only" work an average of 32 hours a week, though they've decided to move about the hours a bit, so one week you have 8 hour workdays and the other you have 6 hour days, I've got an 8 hour week now. Wich is really bad timing. You do get used to it though, and I love feeling knackered after a good days work. I think I'd go insane having a studio job to be honest, I'd feel restless after a while. I would'nt mind getting a decent wage though wich is severely lacking at my workplace. Though it is 'a' wage. j Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L.
