ShadySands
It's a turrible mess but I love the smell. Hurlshort
I plan on quitting the tree business as soon as the kids are out of the house. So about 13 years. If they are in the house after that, they can go get the tree themselves.
Guard Dog
If you failed to grasp the gunpowder reference on the previous page I demand you hang you head in shame (Amentep). You fail at Star Trek trivia! I'd assumed it to be a reference to Kirk having to use sulfer and other elements to make blackpowder and with diamonds and a bamboo like plant create a makeshift gun in order to shoot the Gorn in ARENA season one, episode 18 of the original series. Did I assume wrong? Correct Sir! My faith in you is restored! 1 "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

Vaeliorin
Was eating dinner today at work and talking to my workmates, and the topic of good TV shows came up. Everyone was arguing back and forth between varying shows and when they asked me what my favourite show was, I simply replied; "Firefly." I did'nt expect anyone there to have seen it except my RL friends, no "nerds" were present besides me and the two of my friends that I work with. Everyone at the table agreed. Not one word of dissent! Everyone was equally suprised as me. Amongst a group of 18 people between 20-40 years old and many different backgrounds, everyone was just angered that there was'nt any continuation of the series. Good day. I've got to be honest, I'm kind of glad Firefly didn't continue. There was a gathering several years ago of a bunch of the actors and people who worked on the show, and the stuff they talked about that Whedon had planned for the future sounded pretty terrible, and incredibly dark. Of course, I also hate Serenity because I think it really departed from the show, both in tone and the kind of person Mal was. That, and the killing of characters...even if one of them was the actor's idea.
Gromnir
I'm not a huge fan of real x-mas trees. I mean, they're beautiful and they smell good but you have to keep them watered and they drop a bazillion needles. I'm just not down for the maintenance. For my part, the only reason to put up an x-mas tree at all is to have an actual goddamn pine tree in the house for awhile. It's nice to have lights in it (which enhance the experience of lying beneath the branches on one's back and looking upwards), but I could do without all the other decorations. I go buy one every year from the parking lot of the paramedic station around the block. They sell at a ridiculous markup, but I think of it as a donation to a neighborhood nonprofit, and I enjoy the experience of strolling in to buy one and surprising them by carrying it home by hand. haven't had a christmas tree these past few years, which on one level is ironic given that we own a christmas tree farm. the "farm" is on less than five acres, and it is in idaho, so is a bit o' a drive for us to bring home one o' our trees. +80 year old woman works the place for us with minimal help from her kids and grandkids. is one o' the properties we is seriously considering retiring to. mary, our caretaker, is gonna get the house as well as 3 acres whenever she tells us she wants to retire... or when Gromnir retires. haven't told her yet. maybe next christmas? in any event, is a good chance that we will be having a christmas tree farm in our backyard in a couple years. am inexplicably amused by the thought. Good Fun! Yeah I knew the story was something like that, its weird but in South Africa if a white person was involved in that type of agreed work contract and a black women was 80 it would still be seen as " abuse " or " a case of white people being unconcerned " ...even if she wanted to work. So I get my trees from him. Problem is, the farm is in Idaho and shipping costs to Greece for Christmas Trees are through the roof. And don't get me started on import taxes..." And they'll reply "So why don't you just get a tree from someplace else?" And I'll look at them aghast and say "Are you serious? Get a tree from a stranger when I know a guy?" 8 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise). ShadySands
I locked myself out last night. I thought I had my keys in my coat pocket when I took the dogs out for their evening stroll but after a long walk in the snow it turned out I was wrong. My wife was at a work thing and the HOA had changed the code on the callbox about a week earlier so I didn't have a lot of options and so just before I started buzzing random neighbors to let me in late at night I thought to see if I could forward my home number to my cell. After a little fiddling I was able to let myself in but I wasn't happy about the whole situation. Free games updated 3/4/

Gromnir
only time we lock our door is when we go outta town for at least a couple days. am honest not even certain where our keys are. use garage door opener to access our home on extreme rare occasions we lock door during business trips or vacations. when we eventual decide to sell our home, to provide a real estate agent with keys we would likely need have a locksmith come out to our home to re-key the locks. *shrug* "crime" in our neighborhood amounts to kids taking golf carts for a joy ride and leaving 'em stranded out at the back lakes. is frequent suspicion o' drug use by teens, but by the time security arrives, the ne'er do wells is near always gone. heck, even drunk driving is "punished" by no more than an escort home or to the entrance gate, followed by an appropriately (inappropriate) stern warning.
